Wish more curly girls talked about Sebhorric Dermatitis. Every dermatologist I’ve been too is a straight haired white lady who tells me to wash daily with medicated shampoo and use less conditioner. 🙅🏽♀️ oh no no. Not an option honey. Following their advice my hair got so brittle around the hairline it STARTED FALLING OUT! I’m only 17!!! I was so devastated. Currently recovering thanks to videos like this. I definitely recommend looking into the Cantu Shea butter apple cider vinegar+tea tree oil root rinse for something cheap that’s available at Walmart or target. After YEARS of battling Sebhorric Dermatitis it’s probably the best thing I’ve come by.
Not gonna happen doc! 🙅🏽♀️🙅🏽♀️ I recommend once a week tops when it comes to shampoo! Really liking this so far and just got braids so really going to be counting on the oil to help out! Stay tuned!
I absolutely agree with you. My doctor wanted me to do the same thing, but I noticed I lost moisture too my hair. On top of it all, I also suffer from heat damage #lifesucks
Ugh I relate. If anything, I shampoo using the prescription shampoo twice a week and use a good amount of conditioner. I also use argan oil and a hair milk mist to keep my actual hair healthy.
Well my black dermatologist gave me a medicated shampoo because she states if the ingredients aren’t Ketoconazole with zinc you’re treating nothing and she’s absolutely right. And surprise I was told to wash my hair once a week.
Oh my Gawd! About 2 years ago, I put coconut oil on my scalp before bed. I woke up already bleeding from digging in my scalp. It felt like my scalp was crawling. I thought I was allergic.
I have seborrheic dermatitis and this video was so informative. I'm glad that you didn't just talk about the hair products but also lifestyle changes. This was a wonderful video.
❤️ Thank you!! I’m so happy this helped! I totally understand the struggle and after learning what triggered it and how to turn it around I really wanted to share that this condition can be managed starting from the inside out. Good luck and let me know if there’s anything else I can share to help!
A lot of people I know have started to suffer from this condition, you are right it could be the food. We have hard water where I live in the U.K, which is a contributing factor to this scalp condition. I shaved my hair and used bottled water, which improved the itchiness straight away. I can now treat it and watch it re-grow. I was wearing wigs a lot and it could be the conditions in which the wigs are made/prepared in, add our head sweat to that. So ladies think of wigs and start wearing our natural hair. Be proud of it before it's gone!
I know it’s the worst 😣 I’ve kept it away for the last couple months which is really good for me! Honestly the better sleep and then getting better at oiling my scalp regularly with this and a pimento Oil has seemed to help a lot. Hang in there it gets better!
I created a product that I know will help others as much as it has helped me and yes, it is ANTI-FUNGAL! New to Etsy but please check it out. Wow so you really have no flakes after? I’m so glad you elaborated on the lifestyle part!! That’s part of my treatment that I haven’t focused on. I also have days that my scalp is fine and other times it’s terrible. I will certainly try this. Yay for your partnership!!
Yes unfortunately dairy can definitely add to the irritation, which is a shame bc I love my cheese! I have noticed switching to almond milk has helped my skin a lot more!
I have been relaxed for over 30 years my dermatologist diagnosed me when I was 16 I am 44 now and I even get it in my face I have found hydrocortisone works for my face but for my scalp I am still looking. TFS
Very informative. I've been struggling with seborrheic dermatitis for many years and it's only gotten worse. I have 3 different hair types, 3c-4b, and very thick hair. I'm beyond desperate. Will try As I Am. I actually used to use them but never knew they came out with something like this.

I don’t have that issue, but I use to get dandruff when I was relaxed a lot. I use to put grease on my scalp and massage it in thinking I was moisturizing my hair. Boy was I Wrong! You live and you learn. I think those ingredients can benefit those who deal with dry hair. I love using olive oil in homemade deep conditioners.
*** long comment alert *** I’ve been struggling with this condition for about 3 or 4 years now. It’s so crazy because when i was relaxed I didn’t have these problems. Anywho, it’s so hard because I work out frequently and I sweat ALOT so the sweat and the excess oil and buildup really cause me a lot of irritation. (I’ve woken up from my sleep because of the itching so bad) it’s so annoying. I HAVE to wash my hair weekly to give me some type of relief but by day 4, I be struggling. I used to get medicated shampoo from my dermatologist and of course he advised that I wash my hair more than once a week but as a natural, that’s not a thing. At least not for me. long story short I am glad I came across this video so I can purchase these products!!
Please let me know how your results are!! I feel your pain and hope they help! Also I think the small lifestyle changes are worth checking into as well. Even incorporating a probiotic into your daily vitamins can make a big difference over time!
I believe actually it’s not so much about stress and sleep but more of your diet like you said because foods can inflame and add yeast to the body which helps create this skin irritations
I've had SD since when I was at high school... and I've literally tried everything dermatologists prescribed. Dozens of shampoos, creams, lotions. Most of them are too aggressive, many of them have bad ingredients in their recipe, so I tried to work more on the brands of what I buy, and my lifestyle. I can confirm dairies and alcohol worsen my condition, as well as yeasts (pizza, bread, cake, etc.). I learnt online that putting oil on my scalp isn't good at all, while apple cider vinegar rinse goes a long way. :) So: no SLS shampoos, no foamy stuff and no alcohol on our delicate scalp! Thanks everyone for your suggestions!
I have dermatitis too and it’s been so depressing to be honest. I feel like it’s never gonna go away. I went to the doctor they gave me a shampoo and did nothing. So I went back they upped the medication and gave me a scalp oil to use after. I had to do it to twice a week. And it honestly helped. But as long as I finished the products and I try to go to a regular routine. It started to react terribly. Any recommendations for hair growth or preventing hair thinning. Cause dermatitis has made so much of my hair fall out 😭
I totally understand and that’s why I moved away from the medicated shampoos because it makes our skin so dependent on the medication that it’s a viscous cycle should we ever go off of it. I recommend using all natural products every chance you can and really take a look at your diet and body stressors. Usually you can tie something going on in your life to the times where it flares up badly so take note of those and I bet you’ll see a noticeable difference! I’ve had luck with these products and for edge growth (I feel you girl! 😩) Tropic Isle Living’s Jamaican Black Castor Oil and Pimento Strong Roots Hair Growth Oil has helped me a lot!! Massaging these in every other day or gently before bed has really helped me thicken my edges. Also less tight buns! Hope that helps! If there’s any more on this topic you’d like me to cover please let me know! I’ve been dealing with it over the last 5ish years so I’ve learned a few things! We can manage it!

Thanks so much! I just got diagnosed with that this week and I have 4c hair. Super freaked out about having to wash my hair 3x a week with medicated shampoo I look forward to trying out this line
I wished the medicated shampoo worked for me but it honestly dried my hair so much I didn’t notice a major difference. If you have to medicate-wash more than once I week I recommend to try using this shampoo/conditioner once a week and then either using the conditioner or cowash to cleanse midweek. This is definitely an affordable line considering the ingredients and value, but for your midweek refresh you might also consider the Trader Joe’s Tea Tree Tingle Conditioner as a cowash that retails for $3.99 (save some coins on the refresh and save the stronger products for wash day) Sometimes doctors will prescribe 3x a week not taking into account that natural hair doesn’t produce as much oil as straight hair and therefore can’t be safely processed as often. I’m not a professional but wouldn’t recommend washing that often for the sake of your hair (and sanity!) 😅 Hope that helps!

Yep I was told sebhorreic dermatitis is actually from an over production of and build up of oil (sebum) and is not the same as dry scalp. Cleansing my scalp every 5 days with the Shea moisture charcoal shampoo is the only thing that's working for me. So frustrating to have to wash my hair that often
Yep! Just went to a dermatologist two days ago and she said that I has this and it was dry scalp. It came from the over production of oils. She told me to cut back from using too much oil, not to wear headbands to cover up flakes bc that traps moisture, eliminate stress, less heat,, and to get my anemia in check. She proscribed me so shampoo and this foam (lol that foam is like magic! Lol).

I use Nioxin Scalp Recovery kit (you can get it at Ulta) which is specifically for seborrheic dermatitis. I especially love the ointment which stops itching on contact. The shampoo and conditioner don't help my hair so I use Nexxus products too.
Ooh I’ve never heard of that! Is the ointment an oil consistency? I avoid putting anything with mineral oils or petroleum on my scalp just to prevent build up/promote growth but “Scalp Recovery” sounds like something to check out
@@AminaMarie No, it's not oily at all. It has the consistency of a thin lotion. It soaks right into my scalp, making me less flakey and soothing the itchiness. Out of the 3 products in the kit, I use it the most.😍 It smells really pretty too!
Thank you so much for such an informative video. You provided really great tips and as someone whose been suffering with this condition for years now let me just say that this has helped me to have hope. I once had very thick and full hair ( I've even committed to wearing it only in it's natural state) and since this condition has taken hold I've lost at least 50 percent of my hair. It has left me feeling helpless and depressed at times but it's good to know that I'm not alone in this experience. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge as well as your personal experience and I hope to comment again soon with news of positive results!
I've had SD forever, since when I was 14 and got to see dozens of dermatologists. All of them gave me the same diagnosis and kept saying that this is a chronic condition, caused by a number of reasons (stress is one of them if it's in the family...bingo). I can say I've used more than a hundred different shampoos and treatments to calm my itchy and inflamed scalp down but I'm still trying to work out something that lasts. Antifungal shampoos dry out the scalp and the hair, in the long run, don't work. Aveda Scalp remedy calms down the itchiness (bless it) and kind of clears out the scalp as well. What I can say is that any product (even the most famous ones) that produces lather ISN'T good for SD. I found out in the last 6 months this gorgeous and effective product line called Boucléme (Curl cleanser is fantastic!). Did anyone try these products?
@@piaa4480 I find it less inflamed when I avoid dairy products and alcohol. Also, forget any alcohol styling products like mousse/gel or spray. Why don't you give a try to Boucleme shampoo and conditioner? the whole line does really well on me :)

Girl! I just love you so much! I’ve been trying different shampoos just to figure out why my scalp is so dry and itchy! I think I figured it out but I’m buying this! I’ve always used their jelly! You already know this hair needs real thick jelly! And I’ve tried their cowash but I don’t think cowashing is for me yet lol This sounds exactly what I need right now since this will be my first natural winter! Thank you, as always! 🤗😘
I love you!!! I love the lather on this and think it’s a great way to cleanse in the cold! Love seeing you back to natural life 😜 I know it’s not easy!!
In a lot of cases dermatitis is also caused by irritants like essential oils. People often think it’s only the chemicals but in a lot of cases it’s nature causing problems. I saw someone in a curly girl fb group recommending mixing essential oils in your shampoo to fix the problem 😩 Luckely the woman with the dermatitis allready knew that was a horrible idea😅 Oils can trigger fungus also.
The problem is all health issues are caused from within. No matter what we apply topically, its always going to be temporary unless we detox, fast and cleanse our bodies from the inside out and correct our diet so issues won't keep coming back. Sure you could apply topical treatment all your life, but your body will always be suffering and you won't function at your best.
I agree, yes this is a genetic issue most of the time but it can be greatly managed by our lifestyle choices beginning by what we put in our body and how much rest we get!
Omg, thank you for this video. I have been struggling with super dry scalp lately, like I've never seen before. I recently bought argan oil to apply to my scalp but have been putting it on my scalp 15 mins before the shower. Haven't seen good results. I'll try putting it on after I wash my hair to see what happens instead. If that doesn't work i am definitely buying the shampoo and conditioner from this line.
@@jovannemarquis6623 The argan oil is not doing much for me. I still get a lot of flakes on my scalp. I'm going to be purchasing the shampoo and conditioner she recommends soon.
I have this my hair has fallen out on the side so I’ll try what you recommend hopefully it works I’m only 18 and going bald😭it has lowered myself esteem I feel so ugly
norielondon I’m 13 and balding from the crown (I’m a guy) it’s horrible and makes me really sad, I’m currently looking for ways to solve it, I’m starting to try apple cider vinegar, hopefully it improves
I’m 26 and I cry every day I still haven’t been treated i go see a dermatologist Tuesday I don’t know for a fact I have SD but I definitely have the scalp symptoms it burn I get white scaly patches my hair keep falling out it’s soooo fucking irritating
Thanks for the video, I've tried alot of shampoos and none of them worked for my Seborrheic dermatitis. Hopefully I find this product in my country and I also hope it works. Have you ever tried edenbodyworks peppermint and tea tree shampoo? I heard it helps with seborrheic dermatitis...
I needed this video. Since starting treatment, my hair has gotten so brittle....I was about to lose my mind. I have relaxed hair though, will this line be useful for relaxed hair?
This line is so much better than medicated shampoo (in my opinion) for any hair texture! It uses much gentler ingredients and won’t damage your hair! When you compare ingredients and feel the difference in your hair during your washes you’ll be able to tell right away by how much easier it is to detangle. I remember my medicated shampoo made my hair feel so dry, sticky and brittle 😖
Hi Amina! Your videos were very helpful while I was transitioning and now that I big chopped, I noticed that we have very similar curl patterns! 💕 Also, I would love to know what lipstick are you wearing in the video 😍 Greetings from Puerto Rico!
Isn't seb dermatitis caused by an over production of sebum or oily scalp? As a result I wouls think using products marked for dry scalp would make it worse because it's not the same as having dry scalp. This always confuses me 🤔
Anything that focuses on your scalp health (when you also have healthy ends) will help aid in your hair growth process. It’s not necessarily formulated to speed anything up, but tea tree and olive oil will help stimulate your hair’s follicle and keep your scalp in good shape to promote healthy hair growth

Thank you for sharing.. My 11 yr old son was dx at age 1 with sebhorric dermatitis.. The medicated shampoo worked woners.. They told me not to use oils on his scalp while in treatment, ,that was fine while he was a baby, now 11 yrs later and frequent flair ups and changes to his system, the medicated shampoo is very trying and harsh on his scalp and not oiling after shampoos is a hard thing not to do.. I usually use olive oil because other so called solutions cause him to have ugly flair ups. I will try the olive oil and tea tree treatment. Agree.. I am working slowly on what to eliminate out of his diet that he will accept is best for him..

I’m just now seeing this. I literally just did a big chop three weeks ago. And I’ve suffered from this condition all my life. I have a question how often do you moisturize your hair with the product. You did mention that you used it when your hair was damp do you wet your hair everytime you get ready to oil it?
I was wondering - Since I also have SD but I’ve been wanting to get my hair started on a curly method to bring out my natural curls (I have frizzy wavy hair atm) would this product still work out for me? Thank you so much for this video queen you’re a lifesaver!!! Instantly subscribed 🥰
I have thick 3a hair and treatment dried the hell out of my skin and dried my hair so I’m ready for natural products. Treatment helped a little but overall damaged over the coarse of a couple months 😓 Does aloe Vera help as well as coconut or tea tree? I’m the only one in my family with curly hair and I have no clue how to properly take care of it 😅

hi now do you still use this product? ,, i have sb i think 1 year from now, i'm guy, sometimes if i cut my hair have white patches in my scalp because of dandruff ,if i eat burgers, French fries and fried food, sb is breakout on my side of the ear, eyebrows, scalp and chest, sorry i am not good in English, hopefully you can answer, thank you because of your video I have idea!!!!
I do, I actually just used it this week! Your diet is definitely playing a role in your flare ups unfortunately, so cutting out a heavy bread diet (especially white bread) and reducing your salt intake will help! Processed sugars (found in white breads) can have a really negative impact on the skin and will feed the yeast growing naturally on our skin 🥴 Hope that helps!
I can definitely do an update!! It’s been so much better this last year and I find it mostly gets irritated when I get braids (tension + contact dermatitis from the chemicals that coat braiding hair 😕) and when I’m not maintaining stress triggers. The product plus occasional Aztec Clay mask treatments have really helped!
Just wanted to ask a question is fragrance in hair products bad for eczema? Because I have both eczema and dandruff and it’s driving me nuts trying to find hair products. I also have curly hair so it can be hard
Do you think I could just add a few drops of tea tree and peppermint oil to my leave in? I would try this leave in, but glycerin is the 2nd ingredient, and I try to avoid glycerin in my leave ins.
You can definitely give it a try! I think it’s not as necessary in the leave-in as much as it is for the oil mixture because that’s more focused on the scalp where leave-in focus on the strands. I just really love how the leave-in performs as a detangler and moisturizer but the shampoo, conditioner and oil are gems for the scalp
Hi I suffer from this too it’s really bad like it’s yellow flakes and when I used to scratch it it well peel my hair out with it so I lost my edges I’m just asking does this product really truly work in getting rid the flakes??
I’m so sorry to hear that and I feel your pain 😞😞 This product, especially the oil has truly really helped me so much. The shampoo and conditioner have also given me a lot of relief. Have you identified your stress triggers? That is a great place to start and when they’re thick and yellow flakes like that I think it might benefit to limit your dairy intake and reduce sugars you’re eating for a couple weeks to see what happens. Almond milk is a great alternative and make sure to take a look at the sugar levels in the foods you’re eating. Yeast is what’s living on our scalp and it feeds off of sugars which can sometimes be another trigger of big flare ups. I hope that helps but if you have any more questions lmk on here or feel free to DM me on IG! ❤️
2nd video I've seen on this product. I've just bought all 4 products as well. Now I definitely feel more at peace to try them cos a flaky scalp is doing my head in! Dunno if it's SD (I don't want my gp giving me dry medicated shampoos) but dry and very flaky. Thanks for the tip on lifestyle as well as I'm deffo someone who doesn't sleep early or get enough of it. Well it is winter atm lol
I hope it works well for you! A lot of people who deal with the same thing have followed up with great results too and I’m still using this collection 2+ years later! 🙌🏽 Also check out Caprylic Acid supplements as they pertain to SD, there’s a lot of helpful videos on the effects!
@@AminaMarie well I'll give you a little update. The products felt great lol (I love it when there's peppermint in stuff). Scalp was clear for a few days then the flakyness starts again but I suppose it's a matter of using the products more (think I might have done too many washes lol)

Hi! I would like to try out this shampoo and conditioner to try and get rid of SD. I have 2C hair. For my hair type do you have to use the tea tree oil treatment? Or is it ok to only use the shampoo and conditioner? (Is the tea tree oil treatment for the SD or for helping curlier hair types not frizz?) and is it okay to use a styling gel of any brand? Also sorry if I missed this in the video but how many times a week do we have to wash our hair? Is every 4 days okay? Thanks in advance! x
I discovered I had SD a few weeks ago and its impossible to find the right shampoo/conditioner thats also affordable. My scalp is actually quite oily whereas my ends are very dry. I want to find sulfate free shampoos because those damage my hair like crazy.
Definitely check this line out!! It’s sulfate free and does a great job at keeping the hair moisturized - 2 years later and it’s still one of my go to shampoos
Omg, thank you for replying!! I definitely would like to check this out but you said its for 3 and 4 type hair right? Do you think this would be too heavy for 2a/2b hair types (I'm Mexican with hair somewhere in between wavy and curly)?

I have seborrhoea in my scalp becoz of showering with hot bad water my scalp is very very dry and my hair is so mch thin and falls out alot...Im worry alot its been 4 yrs
Yes the sebaceous glands are the oil producers and when they’re overactive the natural yeast that lives on the skin will sometimes overgrow which creates the dry patches and irritation/redness. Not fun :( Do you have anything you use to fight against it that has worked for you?

Hi! I believe this is available on Amazon, and also SallyBeauty.com! ❤️ If you can’t find it let me know and I can see if I can find other alternatives!
Seborrheic dermatitis is literally an issue that comes with oily skin (thus the "seborrheic" in the " seborrheic dermatitis", it means it is cause by sebum, the "natural oil" of the skin)... It's not "dry skin". The pores don't "open" in the sens that things can more easily go in like little doors. And I don't think dairy has anything to do with seborrheic dermatitis.
Seborrheic dermatitis is connected to our sebaceous glands oil production, yes, but dealing with it also means dealing with the painfully dry patches of skin that come from the rapid skin cell turnover to keep up with the oil production. In addition to red, rash like patches, many deal with dry flaky patches of skin after the fact. Dairy has been linked as an irritant, but not a cause of course.
It is sulfate-free as well as silicone- and paraben-free. Definitely recommend but unfortunately relaxer is one of the harshest chemicals for the scalp and doesn’t help the problem :( I used to get relaxers for over 10 years and stopping definitely improved my scalp. If you’re ever curious about transitioning or going natural I have lots of vids that could help ❤️

I have timestamps in the description box so you can skip to what you’re interested in finding. Promise I’m not rambling 😉 just got a few solutions for our scalp issues
Bummer, what are the popular beauty supply stores in Canada? I’d love to get the names so I can do a little homework. I did find the products on Amazon but the shipping at the moment makes them a little steep. My top 3 for the treatment of the scalp in order would be the shampoo, oil, and conditioner (if you need to narrow down ordering online).
Thanks so much for this video! Like you...I am a naturalista and was recently diagnosed with SD and Was using TGel Neutrogena shampoo but it was so drying for my curls. I watched this video and was so excited that there was a product out there for SD curly hair. It's day 2 of using this product and no flakes 🙏 Can you recommend hair dyes that's gentle on the scalp and curls?
Yay, I love hearing that! Keep us posted!! I personally don’t use hair color that goes up to my root (I choose balyaged pintura highlights because they’re easier to maintain!) However, hair color without ammonia or peroxide is definitely going to help reduce irritation for the scalp if you decide to do color rinses. Clairol Textures & Tones Line has some really good options too if you’re doing it yourself!

I just realized I had eczema at the back of my head where my hair grows . I also have it on my neck so I guess it went up to my scalp 😫 anyways I use head and shoulders 2 in 1 and a conditioner to make my curls hydrated but I feel like regular curly hair products even from the drugstore just don’t do it for me. At like day 2 it just itches and then by day 3 all I’m feeling is just the need to itch all the time. On top of that , I’m a wash and go girl so I use a cream as a leave in . Maybe since I’m using regular products with regular ingredients to style and hydrate it isn’t helping . I’m thinking about getting this whole line since I’ll get the shampoo , conditioner and leave in 😫 I hope this will be the end of my itch suffrage
Jamell Carter so I ordered the shampoo , conditioner , leave in . It’s taking a while for it to come because of the pandemic happening. I got so impatient that I started looking into other kinds of treatments so I used apple cider vinegar and diluted it with some water & it helped so much ! I even had flakes and a lot of my redness went away. So I highly recommend the Apple cider vinegar. It’s very strong so I would put more water than the apple cider vinegar because I felt a little burning. Half and half wasn’t enough . You know stuff like this doesn’t just go away so I also did aloe Vera gel . I sectioned my hair from the back since that’s where I face a lot of my eczema & I put a generous amount. It’s usually really patchy and flaky but after the apple cider vinegar it calmed down A LOT after one use . With me using the aloe Vera after 2 days I feel like it also helped a lot . I’m using it right now as I go to sleep and I feel so at ease after a long time . If you can’t afford these products , these two stuff are really good at home ! I heard castor and peppermint oil is good too
Jamell Carter aloe Vera gel is also GREAT as a styled and I feel like ppl are really sleeping on this. If you like polished looks and slicked back edges or ponytails , you can use this as a substitute for gel since gel can be problematic for sensitive scalp .
Is this for black women? I am white and have the scalp problem and cannot find any shampoo that helps. I use doTerra essential oils to keep it under control but it will not clear up. No doctor specialist has helped me at all.

You can but I don’t recommend getting them when you’re having a flare up. I would try doing a clarifying wash day and oiling your scalp with a protein-free, wheat-germ free (no wheat proteins) oil and waiting 2-3 days to see how your scalp responds before getting braids. As long as there’s no irritation it can still be an option. I try to avoid braided styles where there’s a LOT of scalp showing just to be safe

I’m so sorry, what kind of things have you tried so far for treatment / management? It’s been almost year for me of making some lifestyle changes and using better products for my scalp and I have noticed a big reduction. Another thing I think that may have helped is a DIY bentonite clay mask with Apple Cider Vinegar, Olive Oil & a tiny bit of tea tree oil. I started doing these every other months and I truly think it’s helped my hair and scalp! Good luck & lmk if you need any other tips!

When I was diagnosed I cut all my hair off and now I am considering doing it again because my flare ups have gotten really intense
If you have sebhorric dermatitis *do not use coconut oil* cuz the fatty acids feeds the yeast

Olive oil, tea tree oil, apple cider vinegar
Oh my Gawd! About 2 years ago, I put coconut oil on my scalp before bed. I woke up already bleeding from digging in my scalp. It felt like my scalp was crawling. I thought I was allergic.
Thanks for the tip!
wow now I know why I had a bad experience with coconut oil!
Just learned my lesson. I thought the oil would make it more moisturized. But it made it worse.
Hi, I also have seborrheic dermatitis and I wanted to know if you tried this products and if it worked on you
A lot of people I know have started to suffer from this condition, you are right it could be the food.
I mixed a lil apple cider vinegar in my shampoo too. Stops irritation.
I use ACV too!
I was recently diagnosed with SD...
I hate it
I know it’s the worst 😣 I’ve kept it away for the last couple months which is really good for me! Honestly the better sleep and then getting better at oiling my scalp regularly with this and a pimento Oil has seemed to help a lot. Hang in there it gets better!

Omg dairy causes a flare ups for me too. I looked it up dairy cause inflammation & SD is inflammation of the scalp.
TFS
Same for me too on my forehead and behind my ears mostly

I don’t have that issue, but I use to get dandruff when I was relaxed a lot. I use to put grease on my scalp and massage it in thinking I was moisturizing my hair. Boy was I Wrong! You live and you learn. I think those ingredients can benefit those who deal with dry hair. I love using olive oil in homemade deep conditioners.
Olive oil is a gem for the scalp and hair! Putting a couple of drops of tea tree in your mix definitely makes a difference too
*** long comment alert *** I’ve been struggling with this condition for about 3 or 4 years now.
So: no SLS shampoos, no foamy stuff and no alcohol on our delicate scalp!
Thanks everyone for your suggestions!
Thank you, awesome comment. I will definitely implement many things.🌟♥️

How you doing rn? If your doing better please tell me what your routine consists of and what your doing
This is definitely an affordable line considering the ingredients and value, but for your midweek refresh you might also consider the Trader Joe’s Tea Tree Tingle Conditioner as a cowash that retails for $3.99 (save some coins on the refresh and save the stronger products for wash day)
Sometimes doctors will prescribe 3x a week not taking into account that natural hair doesn’t produce as much oil as straight hair and therefore can’t be safely processed as often. I’m not a professional but wouldn’t recommend washing that often for the sake of your hair (and sanity!) 😅 Hope that helps!

Another RUclipsr suggested this product As I Am and it really helped me!
Flaky doesnt always equal dry! That can mean overly oily. Find out which is you and act accordingly or the struggle will stay real
Lol).
Im going to have to try this as I didnt like their long and lux line.
Thank you for sharing! It never occurred to me to put a hydrating oil on after a shower when the pores are open. I’ll try this protect soon!

I haven't try them, but did it help with SD ? I am desperately trying to find curl friendly products for treating SD ...
@@piaa4480 I find it less inflamed when I avoid dairy products and alcohol. Also, forget any alcohol styling products like mousse/gel or spray. Why don't you give a try to Boucleme shampoo and conditioner? the whole line does really well on me :)

I saw someone in a curly girl fb group recommending mixing essential oils in your shampoo to fix the problem 😩 Luckely the woman with the dermatitis allready knew that was a horrible idea😅
Oils can trigger fungus also.
I just wanna say May dermatitis in my scalp was 2 years it cannot rid fast😥

I needed this video. Since starting treatment, my hair has gotten so brittle....I was about to lose my mind. I have relaxed hair though, will this line be useful for relaxed hair?
This line is so much better than medicated shampoo (in my opinion) for any hair texture! It uses much gentler ingredients and won’t damage your hair! When you compare ingredients and feel the difference in your hair during your washes you’ll be able to tell right away by how much easier it is to detangle. I remember my medicated shampoo made my hair feel so dry, sticky and brittle 😖

Anything that focuses on your scalp health (when you also have healthy ends) will help aid in your hair growth process. It’s not necessarily formulated to speed anything up, but tea tree and olive oil will help stimulate your hair’s follicle and keep your scalp in good shape to promote healthy hair growth

Ca you keep us updated on your SD? How is your scalp now with the product you’re using currently

Do you lose hair as well? When your scratching your scalp does a lot of hair come out
I'm in finals week rn and these last two weeks have been crazy stressful. My sleeping schedule is also pretty non-existent so my scalp is sufFeRinG
Amina Marie I see, thank you!

Amina Marie thank you 🙏!!
@@AminaMarie thanks for that, I will check out salicylic acid also
@@AminaMarie well I'll give you a little update. The products felt great lol (I love it when there's peppermint in stuff). Scalp was clear for a few days then the flakyness starts again but I suppose it's a matter of using the products more (think I might have done too many washes lol)
Hi how long can you go without seeing flakes after using this product?
I created a product that I know will help others as much as it has helped me and yes, it is ANTI-FUNGAL! New to Etsy but please check it out. The drops work and are lighter than anything I've tried so you can use them every day if you so need and a little goes a long way. I use the Nizoral Shampoo for the ketoconazole and this! www.etsy.com/listing/859685499/seborrheic-dermatitis-natural-scalp
Omg your TOO beautiful😘
Thank you!! ❤️❤️😘
@@AminaMarie the leave in left flakes in my hair, did it do the same for you?
@@stacyr4768 oh no, I'm sorry to hear that! I never experienced flaking with these products and still use them fairly regularly!
For real. And that hair? 😍 She's like a light skin Brandy.
@@stacyr4768 usually when I use leave in conditioner I have to dry with a blow dryer or I will have flakes
i was literally too busy staring at her lipstick to know what to use on my hair
This was great. Gonna try this soon. Thank you for posting! 💕
So glad you liked it! Let me know what you think!
I definitely will!
Thanks in advance! x
I have 2b hair, and I just used this. Worked decently but will check in the AM to see I my scalp is OK

Can it also be used for wavy to slightly curly hair?
Ur hair is so beautiful✨
I have seborrheic dermatitis what do you use please give me the list
I have seborrhoea in my scalp becoz of showering with hot bad water my scalp is very very dry and my hair is so mch thin and falls out alot...Im worry alot its been 4 yrs
sebbhorric dermatis is actually caused by oily skin and it looks like cradle cap. I would know bc I have it.
Yes the sebaceous glands are the oil producers and when they’re overactive the natural yeast that lives on the skin will sometimes overgrow which creates the dry patches and irritation/redness. Not fun :(
Do you have anything you use to fight against it that has worked for you?
@@AminaMarie yep, that's a better way of describing it! I use a drugstore medicated shampoo weekly but lately it hasn't been working :(
This is devastating since I'm in South Africa 😭😭
We share the same sentiments😣

Hi. Thank you for the info. Im from philippines and im suffering seborrheic dermatitis. Where i can buy that kind of product/shampoo?
Hi! I believe this is available on Amazon, and also SallyBeauty.com! ❤️ If you can’t find it let me know and I can see if I can find other alternatives!
@@AminaMarie thank you very much. Theres no store like that here in philippines. I dont know where to buy it.
Does that shampoo help with the itchy scalp ? It’s so annoying
Thank you.
Can I use this for straight hair as well
Definitely! The shampoo and conditioner are scalp focused but gentle enough for curlier / coily hair textures. Win win
I wonder if the shampoo would be good for locs/dreads?
Lovely hair ❤️
Would this product work on transitioning hair?
Absolutely!! It felt very gentle, though it’s marketed for curly hair I would say this would work nicely on any hair type based on the consistency
This was great information
Hi Amina my hair is relax and sebboric flaky dermatitis and I wanted to know if this product is sulfate free and if it will help.

Once a week!

I love your videos!❤️
Thank you Brittani!! 💕☺️
Does anyone know any cheaper alternatives to this shampoo and conditioner? The only websites I can find that ship to my country are a bit too expensive
Hey there, what country are you in? Do you have Aztec Bentonite Clay (powder) where you are?
Can someone summarize this video so I can just read the essence of what I need to take away from here.
I have timestamps in the description box so you can skip to what you’re interested in finding. Promise I’m not rambling 😉 just got a few solutions for our scalp issues
Its so hard to find As I am products in Canada :(
Bummer, what are the popular beauty supply stores in Canada?
I personally don’t use hair color that goes up to my root (I choose balyaged pintura highlights because they’re easier to maintain!)
However, hair color without ammonia or peroxide is definitely going to help reduce irritation for the scalp if you decide to do color rinses. Clairol Textures & Tones Line has some really good options too if you’re doing it yourself!

Happy this could help!! And yes kinky hair! I’m sure you understand about the medicated shampoo 😩
@@AminaMarie I sure do. I used to use tgel because my dermatologist recommended it and I hated it. And back then I wore relaxers so my hair felt worse from already being damaged. I use eden, shea moisture or this coal tar shampoo I found on Amazon then I use my regular shampoo behind it for the rest of my hair.

Love it❤❤
I just realized I had eczema at the back of my head where my hair grows .
Need updates
I hope that it'll work for you 😃
Jamell Carter so I ordered the shampoo , conditioner , leave in .
Kathy De La Rosa have u figure out how lo these methods lasted you til u needed to wash
Thank you!!
Of course!
Is this for black women? I am white and have the scalp problem and cannot find any shampoo that helps. I use doTerra essential oils to keep it under control but it will not clear up. No doctor specialist has helped me at all.

Can you still get braids and sew ins w/ SD
