      Really, why don’t you clarify it, explains bit more? Just don’t say we pay for it. We can make anything China makes here in the USA. Our government has sold out our industries to China. Let’s bring those manufactures back to the states and see how the tariffs work

      Some items get more expensive, some get cheaper! And price difference will be offset by the creation of new, very high paying jobs! USA has an ocean of natural gas, crude oil, and minerals! This industry alone would offset any higher prices! Agriculture? USA also owns the most, and best farmland on the planet! Farmers are not stupid people! They grow whatever is most profitable! Chinas main import into USA is machinery and appliances! Which USA has the capability to produce here! Unnecessary regulations, and American citizens being spoiled to some of our trading parters using slave paying labor, and no desire at all to follow our laws regarding environmental concerns has made us dangerously dependent upon these countries! They need us, more than we need them!

      Antonio, one of Trump’s first acts as 45, he slapped tariffs on Carrier AC’s that were destined to be built in Mexico and were to be imported back into the US. Carrier stopped building their factory in Mexico and brought their manufacturing back to America. American workers were then making American ACs, American workers were again making money for their labor. Tariffs work.

    American companies pay tariffs, not the countries goods are bought from. So, prices for Americans will soar on everything from produce from Mexico to clothing to appliances to electronics, and the list goes on. China, Mexico, Canada, etc. will never pay a penny. That is how tariffs work.

    • @jamesaritchie1
      @jamesaritchie1 21 час назад +9

      Typical liberal nonsense. The reason we have an IMMENSE trade deficit is because every country out there, including China, has high tariffs on imported goods, and it works very well for them.
      Tariffs do NOT make imported goods so expensive that our prices will soar, it simply brings us back into line with other countries and greatly increase manufacturing inside of America.

    Current trade war started in 2018, and up to now 92.7% of the increased tariffs has been paid by US consumers. And China's export revenue actually went up since then.
    This is because the US has dropped from the no.1 trade partner of China to third, behind ASEAN and EU. Yet today some Americans still think they can isolate or hurt China by adding tariffs.

    It's not good to be overly emotional; let's talk about some objective data. Foreign trade accounts for 19% of China's GDP, and of that, approximately 14% comes from trade with the U.S,of the 14%, 70% comes from products produced by U.S. companies in China and exported to the U.S. So, as for tariffs, the most affected are these American companies, as they will face a dilemma. Leaving China means losing the huge Chinese market (which is much larger than the U.S. market), but staying in China means they will have to raise prices in the U.S. So, Americans can cheer for their president's tariffs-it's your freedom to do so.

    I'm confused... China has tariffs against the United States. Why would they say tariffs hurt everyone, when they have tariffs themselves? Do they want to hurt everyone with those?

      In China only rich can afford American products, and they are not price sensitive. For ordinary people, they have many alternatives.
      Agricultural products are an exception. In China, most of agricultural product importers are state-owned companies that formulate import plans and apply for quotas from the gov. The tariff for quotas ranges from 1% to 9%, while the tariff for imports not included in the plan is 65% or 180%

    Consumers here in the US need to not purchase any of the items affected by the tariffs. Companies also need to lower there profit margin and expectations in light of tariffs. They need to cut there profits some and stop guaranteeing there profits and hurting us the consumers.

      Sir, if companies were going to cut into their profit margins, there wouldn't have been any inflation the last four years. You have no idea how capitalism works.

      These are the words of someone who has 0 clue as to how much of the items in America, let alone the world, that are made in China.
