@@ericthecarguy I have a 08 that I drove every day I need replace the rear motor mount the long bolt broke but my issue is that I can't access one of the front bolt easily and I realized that all the muffler flange nut almost fully rusted out can't afford to remove muffler know in the winter. Wonder if I can supercharged mine also in the future. Many thanks to you for your videos it has helped me done a valve adjustment.

We have been doing the out the bottom subframe swap on our race cars for years...lots of fun at the track with an engine hoist, jack stands and plinth blocks. Our record (4 folks working and one play tool fetcher) was 70 minutes. Each teammate had a laminated sheet of instructions, half of which were verifying things the guy next to him was doing from their sheet, and two battery impact guns. True, things like AC system and factory labyrinth airbox intake were gone but still pretty proud of that. My favorite instruction was for the tool fetcher "put all the spare wheels and tires in the trunk". The look of confusion on his face was epic...until he saw where the final location of the jack stands on plinth boxes was!
I'm going to be purchasing a Pilot of the same vintage and doing exactly what you did to this one on that! I'll keep you posted on all of the progress (and regressions....for we all know that THOSE WILL HAPPEN), and maybe show some of the progress on YT for you to see! Thank you again for this series, Eric; I miss you and hope to see more regular videos in a new shop soon!!!!
As if the rear subframe repair and refinishing wasn't enough, watching this video makes me want to go get an older Pilot and do a full rebuild like this. Of course, there would be a lot of money invested in it and a lot of time needed... So maybe not the best idea for me. I'll just live vicariously through you on this project.

I don't know how'd I react to finding bolts left over, but I bet yours is the same joy I feel when finding... 🤔 the holes, the empty spaces "left over" where bolts once were.
Nice work - fun to watch! I hate changing oil and filter after it's been previously done in a shop. They're either afraid of a leak or want it brought back for the next change because you can't get the filter off.

Hi Eric! Greetings from Poland. I realy like to watch your videos at the end of the day, you are doing great job. I am servicing my cars since I finished technical shool (in Poland we have technical degree after finishing four classes and completing them with special exam) I have technical degree of cars servicing, maintenance and exploitation. All of things you are doing are super important like safety, special lubricants, tools etc. I learned a lot about Japan cars from you (US cars are not encountered in PL unfortunatelly, Hondas and Acuras are, but with different names). I see you have continous problems with mess on floor during dissasembly. I am using absorbing mats, these are working great, try some of them, for sure you have good quality ones in US. I am using double-sided tape to hold them in place. One more time thank you and be safe in these crazy times!
Erick in 1996ish I was cleaning the inside of a motor/oil pan with break clean to get most of the oil out of the way and went to lunch. When I came back Ben was still standing there looking at the car like it was a demonic Spawn of Satan. He decided to help me and weld the leak in the oil pan and blew both rocker covers off the engine and dented the hood with them lol.
I had a similar thing happen to me. I was doing head gaskets on an old Acura Legend. I had the drivers side head off and was cleaning the gasket off of the block. I also used brake cleaner to clean some of the oil that was on the surface. I wanted to remove the alignment dowel from the block do remove more of the gasket but it was stuck. I decided to add some heat to loosen it up. The brake cleaner ignited and blew the valve cover off of the other head. A huge fireball shot out of the side I was working on and singed my eyebrows. The shop got real quiet after that big bang. I'm still here though.
The used car market is so screwed up, I've gone and done a "frame off restoration" of my daughters Pilot. It spun a bearing. There's so much "may as well replace while I'm here" stuff, it's a new car now. FML Anyway, great video, thank you.
Great video as usual. Don't specifically mess with Honda but allways been a DIY kinda person and find helpful things in all your videos. Old and the newer ones. Do some video stuff myself and don't worry much about the construction background noise. Some things can't be avoided. They aren't really distracting.
I always stretch the seat belt and Wrap it on the bottom of steering wheel loop it and Attach it to the Seat belt clamp to hold steering wheels straight just a tip on what I do the steering wheel Clamp works good also @EricTheCarGuy

I had trouble with stabilizer links on accord v6 07. You have to do the whole vice grip "thang". It was a biatch. Then I used heat, propane torch, and it was butter.
Surprised you didn't loosen the jam nuts on the outer tie rods while still attached. I also never disconnect the top mounts until all the lower cradle bolts are off. Seems a bit safer to me. Still everything was well done. Personally would have replaced shift cable for peace of mind, but I am sure the weld will be fine. Great video!

If you’re going to hook the transmission back to the radiator I would strongly advise you to replace it, we’ve had a number of Honda vehicles leak coolant into the trans and have had to flush them extensively
If I was going to do it that way I would have tested and flushed it first. However, the reman transmission states that I use their new cooler only, and bypass the one in the vehicle. Thanks for the suggestion.

I had a pilot that had a rattle after we had done some job that required dropping the subframe. The front right bolt was just spinning. Turns out someone had broken the thread sleeve off. I decided to give it back to the guy who had done the job
Watching you spray that brake cleaner without glasses on. Gives me the biggest anxiety. When I was getting my block ready for paint I did the same. And then hit a bolt hole and the spray went back into my face. I was blind for 5 minutes. Had to rinse my eyes for 15 minutes under running water. It burned! Thank god nothing major happened. But yea. Wear safety glasses when spraying that stuff. It may not be bad on the skin but holy crap! The eyes!
Oh on a last note, look into “link ecu” as an ecm replacement so you have the ability to tune the engine to utilize that forced induction. I use one in my odb1 swapped EF hatch.

Hello Eric love your channel!!! can you make a video on the difference between on working on new cars at the dealer back in your days vs used high mileage cars at your shop. I myself own my shop n would like to compare my feeling vs others. Lol just an Idea out there if you haven’t done one ☝️ lol. I sometimes get frustrated when working on beat down cars but in the end I feel great when the customer is happy with final results.
i've seen a lot of youtubers take a lot of bolts off with a milwaukee impact but i've never seen the milwaukee struggle like it did at 44:18. was that the 2767 m18 high torque?
Easy answer to a transmission cooler inside a radiator leaking or not is absence of coolant pouring out of it while hose is unhooked. Leaks work both ways for those that didn't think that far.
I have a better answer, the transmission remanufacture would void the warranty if you used the OE cooler and not the one they provided. I'll cover this in a future episode. Thanks for the comment.
Eric. Do you know if its okay to measure fuel pressure on the pulsator, by removing it and making adaptor to fit the gauge , on cars that don't have test port ?
That's the way the manual tells you to do it. In fact we had a special adapter at the dealer for it. However, I very, very, rarely see Hondas with fuel pressure issues.

And it was just some guy giving a sermon about characters from the bible and talking about scriptures. And I'm just sitting back thinking : "WTF ?" LoL
i am surprised you havent got a HF gantry yet. Waiting for the move? i got sick of the cherry pickers leg issue when lowering the cradle (but your custom engine holder helps much there). Gantry is a game changer for when you can take out the top to save time from dropping the cradle... Cheers!
That battery plate annoyed me when I had to take it out to do a starter on a pilot too I saw too it didn’t have to come out all the way too and I was like thank GOD I can’t even really get a combo wrench in there to loosen it easy
do you prefer not to pull motor transmission out the top? without a lift its much easier less work to pull the drivetrain from the top IMO. to each their own tho.

Your pointed air chisel bit on the center drill of the axle works better than a hammer any day to loosen a drive axle.
Not everyone has air tools.

I did that on the bench with my vice. I knew I'd be reconditioning the subframe and would remove the rack in the process. Thanks for the comments.

Yep. Linked in the description. It's a long bolt that was cross threaded. I think any impact would have struggled.
