- The one time Daniel Ricciardo has a good race... trust Lance Stroll to do what Lance Stroll does best... Anyway a lot went on in the CHinese Grand Prix weekend. From spontaneously combusting grass, to wild Sprint Qualifying results! Here are my thoughts and reactions for the entire weekend...

Came here to say exactly this. DRic was having a decent weekend and looking pretty good on track until Stroll indecently assaulted his diffuser. And then he calls a 10 second penalty a “joke”. Nah Lance, you’re looking more and more like a joke mate.
Stroll complaining about the 10s penalty in the pits: "Unbelievable. What a joke!"
Brazilian race commentator: "Perhaps the joke is you driving in F1."
Then explain how even Nico rosberg and crofty said it was an unfortunate situation for lance?

The fact the Aston Martin is building the F1 project all around Lance Stroll has to be the joke of the decade.
its probably just the pre-collision warning system for him, specifically. Without it, he is a bit...disabled.

there is Alonso, a 42 y.o dude with an incredible reaction speed to avoid his car finding the wall, and there is Stroll, who wasn't even paying attention of what was right in front of him in a very slow speed, and they're in the same car.
Alonso should've demanded Lance be fired first before he signed that contract extension. It'd make Lawrence Stroll look like a deaf and blind jackass if he chose his own son over FERNANDO FUCKING ALONSO.
To be honest.. the whole breaking train was caused by Alonso, who did the same as Stroll, but had the luck of having more space

I was watching the race and Im not experienced in managing a race at all. But even I realised that they needed a fucking safety car at that moment.
And then they did a Virtual and then about 1-2 laps later we had a full Safety Car.
somebody need to inform the groundkeeper at the track that gasoline is for the cars not hydrating the grass
Or the groundskeeper needs to be more consistent with watering the grass because dry grass is gonna burn easy like what we saw.

Actually, China is known for painting grass. It's either that or dead grass clippings that caught.
Well they had to find another solution since Mao suggested that people should water their plants 24/7 which failed hysterically.

Ricciardo was actually having a VERY good race, the people that matter will have paid attention to that even if the fans won’t
Maybe. He has won there before and Yuki's not driven there (at least in F1), so tricky to tell how much was simply down the circuit, new chassis and Danny remembering how to drive.

And Ricciardo has received a 3-place grid drop for Miami because he passed Hulk under the Tsunoda SC to get the spot back Hulk took from him thanks to Stroll, and apparently the Stewards said it was fine for Hulk to do that - Article 55.8 for those who want to go read the exceptions that article lists

Honestly, as frustrating as it sounds, this one is on Ricciardo and the team, and first and foremost on Stroll.
Hulk obviously did nothing wrong, he is absolutely covered by 55.8(h).
Ricciardo is not. He simply re-overtook Hulk under the safety car without clearing it with race-control or being told to do so. Obviously that seems fair enough to you and me, but it is a violation of the regulations. Losing the position to Hulk is simply another consequence of Stroll being in F1.
Now I imagine Vcarb will protest, so it remains to be seen wether there are any exceptions to be made. Lets hope so.
I just think we should protest, when the stewards don't enforce the rules, not when they do, because any genuinly fair system can only exist when it means enforcing the rules for everybody.
Oh wish we could see protest changing the 3-place drop... to mandatory pit lane start (race ban would be too harsh).
@@parrotantics2046 I think you're confusing the penalties for Ricciardo and Stroll? Stroll got a 10 second penalty during the race and 3 points on his superlicence, Ricciardo got a 3-place-grid penalty for Miami, since he retired the car and couldn't be penalised during the race.

My main question from the weekend is. Why TF is a driver outside the car in a run-off area, not an immediate SC?

OOOOOK, it was a race, not the I-95. Most people who tackle other people for holding a ball should go to jail, but in American football it’s fine to do that even if you accidentally break the other guy’s leg. Sometimes legs get broken, and sometimes cars get damaged.

It's going to take a lot more race circuits like Shanghai, before F1 racing is raised higher than the 'street circuit' status that the sport currently occupies.
There's there's a whole bunch of them coming up. Y'know - in the published calender of races? Quite a lot. Imola, Canada (I count Montreal as a proper circuit), Barcelona, Red Bull Ring, Silverstone, Hungaoring, Spa, Zandvoort, Monza, COTA, Interlagos. Even Abu Dhabi with the reprofiled corners is OK. What point are you trying to make here exactly? Are you not aware of where this sport races at?
I was hoping for a Joke about Norris driving to the wrong point at the end of the race and then trying to Reverse out of said pitlane

This is awesome, u went in depth into how the drivers were, and dissected how every driver was. It showed a lot more insight than before, for someone who doesn't watch F1 live, it def helped me stay relevant!!!

Couldn’t watch this weekend’s F1 race bc I was at the Long Beach Grand Prix. Sadly I was able to pray enough for Sting Ray bob to finish in the points. (At least I did miss anything though)
So I think I’ve cracked a way sprint races could spice up the format:
Award points for the top 10
Use each drivers fastest lap to set the grid for the actual race (drivers must finish the sprint to have the lap count)
This gives teams lower down the grid a way to give themselves a shot for the main event and forces the top teams to make a strategy call to maximise points from the sprint but also set themselves up well for the main race

This is the first race in a few years where i have had no idea whats going on and fully need this video, the races started at 3am so i watched nothing and instagram has buried f1 coverage on my home page for some reason
This17 minute video took me 32 to watch. Could not stop hitting the back button to hear all the one liner zingers over and over. Will, you were on fire and hotter than the grass fires. Well done mate! Now I look for meditation for my sore chest from laughter.

Sadly it has come to the point where, if Max does leave, F1 would be better... Just this weekend I was watching the race with my wife and we were saying "if you discount Max, the rest of the race and the races so far have been super exciting with actual fights and change in positions"

...it technically _is_ compulsory. Teams are required to at least attempt *all* races run through a season according to the Concorde Agreement, as any missed races are met with _very_ steep fines.
So that's how Alonso has maintained such stellar ability at his age.....

The days when I used to watch a full F1 race ended about a quarter of the way into the 2023 season. The official F1 RUclips recap vids are more than enough to see Max dominate race after race 😮💨

Stunning to see the gaps Max was able to pull. Over 20 seconds when the VSC came... on both restarts he just drove away and had like 13 seconds on the last run. And Stroll.... well he is at the other end with useless driving and no skills.

At the point of the SC ALO did 12 laps on hard, but Aston (and few others) didnt have a 2nd set of Hards to put on, so after SC restart they knew they needed to pit at some point anyway, going for the softs for the restart and mediums after is the best they could do, if there wasnt 2nd SC, the hards would have degraded more and probably gave him a shot at RUS/SAI

Think this race showed a glimpse of how good F1 could be with regulations that brought the cars closer together. That fight for 3rd was great while it lasted, and there were other good battles going on. The aero needs sorting so there isn’t as much dirty air, there needs to be things like weight added to winning cars and get rid of DRS completely so cars have to actually battle for position. The best drivers and teams will always win championships but there should be some excitement on the way.
Stroll was upshifting to 4th gear in the 100m mark😂😂😂😂
