G'day Everyone, we were pumping the sea sickness tablets into us on that trip, I can tell ya! Anyway, fishing and gardening are my two biggest passions (besides family and friends), and I'm excited to bring you fishing content once again. There is a surprising amount of crossover between fishing and food gardening, so working the two into each other should be a ton of fun! Thanks for your patience and support... Get out there! Cheers :)

It's so refreshing to see a fishing channel, taking this down to earth approach. It's going to be fun watching, as you become more and more experienced along the way. Sooner or later, those bigger fish will come and I hope we might even see some of them cooked up, with your home grown vegetables and salads. Enjoy and safe boating.

G'day Mark, Long time fan from your gardening channel, love the fact you're doing a fishing channel too. At the end of the say there really is nothing quite like a fully self sourced meal, both the protein and the salads/veg. I'm a keen fisherman too and like you suffer sea-sickness...big time. I'm not sure how it works for you but I find Kwells dries out the mouth and makes me tired, so I looked into alternatives and Paul Worsteling from I-Fish put up a FB post about him using scopolamine hydrobromide gel. I can't wait to get out on the water again. Winters here in New England (Massachusetts) is to darn long. My brother in law just picked up a new 30' boat and I imagine we'll be out on it 4-5 times a week. Putting up a couple new 4x8 foot raised beds, relocating 8 blueberry bushes I planted last summer to close to a fence (still less than 2' tall) Lots to do in a short time. Got a bunch of seedlings started covering my kitchen table right now on a 4' heat mat, ugh time is moving much to quickly. Still need to restring a few reels and get my tackle set up. Yet I can't stop watching your channel. Hope you land a lot of nice fish this season and looking forward to more videos. Till then may you always have tight lines and good times!

Just a pointer I learned from experience:
If your live bait is dying off prematurely, it´s likely because the well is too high. That and too little water in the well creates a slosh that really damages the baities. Cheers!

Just a tip for you- if you’re at the beacons and your bait jigs are getting bitten off like that, it’s school mackerel! They’re most likely eating your livies on the way up and snipping you off! If you cast some chrome slugs, let them sink, and then wind them back in fast, you’ll hook up! Or even float a pilchard down on gang hooks. They’re a tasty feed and fun fight!
Tight lines guys, keep up the videos 👍

Hahaha the shot of you with your cheeks puffed out looks like you are ready to start chumming the water, lol. I grew up on the ocean since I was 4. The waves I seen looks like our calmest waters here in New England. So glad you purchased the best pleasure boat ever constructed. I'm very jealous of you. I got to drool on a bright orange one here. I hope we get to see a lot more of it and am looking forward to watching your fishing trips. Can you please show us all the fish you catch up close and tell us more about them. We don't have any of the species like you have. We are mostly striped bass, haddock, flounder and cod and a few other species. Were you trolling really fast or was that the way the camera made it look? When we troll for striped bass it's usually at around 5-10 mph. All depends on the species. Anyways it's nice to see you on the water and bonding with your boys. They must absolutely love it. Be safe out there!

Mark, just a comment from someone who has been hunting, fishing and growing food for > 60 years. If you want to keep the "self sufficiency" theme pure than calculate how many kilos of (usable) fish you have caught per litres of fuel used. If you do, where and the way you fish will change. Just as you have measured and changed your gardening systems. All the best with your venture.

Also, if you're getting bit off behind the hook, research "stinger hook" basically you attach a small treble hook to the J hook on your rig with a short piece of wire so that it dangles around the tail of the bait, you can even put on of the hooks on the treble into the fish near the tail

Drift fishing is a really good way , find the current turn the engine off and drift with small live bait, fish is able to do it thing and your able to relax and you can have more lines spread over the boat. You need larger fish to troll at the speeds your going looking at the wash the motor is creating.
