    Honestly this is my favorite cleric one strategy that you didn't bring up with the invoke duplicity is have the real you hide, take something like meld into stone or passwall and have your clones be the casters while you stay safe. Another good spell for this sub class is mirror image especially if you cast it first and then do the invoke duplicity, at max level that is 12 of you at any given time that the enemy will see making it be even more confusing for them.

    • @TheSinisterheroes
      @TheSinisterheroes  2 года назад

      That’s definitely something I never thought about. How did it work out in the game with the mirror image and invoke duplicity? Did the enemies just go nope !!! And attack someone else??

    • @TheClarkCooper
      @TheClarkCooper 2 года назад +5

      Im not sure meld into stone would work, since you need to use your own senses to be able to cast spells from invoke duplicity, right?

    • @TheSinisterheroes
      @TheSinisterheroes  2 года назад +1

      @@TheClarkCooper actually actually with meld into stone you lose the duplicate because you cant see it. but the spirit of what he is saying rings true

    • @arcanerecovery2567
      @arcanerecovery2567 11 месяцев назад +2

      You don't lose the Illusory Duplicate when you can't see it. The feature says, 'The illusion appears in an unoccupied space that you can see within 30 feet of you.' So you have to see the area you summon it into when you first create it. And it also says, 'you can move the illusion up to 30 feet to a space you can see' which means you have to see where to move it to.
      But nowhere does it say the feature ends if you can no longer see it. That is not how the feature works at all. It remains for the duration or until you lose concentration. You can lose sight of it and then regain sight on a future turn or round and use it again to do the things it can do.
      It does not wink out when you lose sight of it.@@TheSinisterheroes

    This is by far the best flavor review of this subclass, which is also my favorite. In keeping with the tone of the class, here's a grabbag of homebrew ideas: Minor Illusion as an initial cantrip; Blessing of the Trickster can affect Stealth, Deception, or Slight of Hand; Invoke Duplicity can use an effect similar to Mage Hand in that the duplicate can carry small items or pull levers, etc.; Invoke Duplicity scales to include a Misty Step switch with the duplicate; Invoke Duplicity can coincide with Cloak of Shadows to become invisible in the instant that the duplicate is invoked to create an effect similar to the Mislead spell. Another thought is to use the new Changeling option so that you become the ultimate infiltrator, including being able to Invoke Duplicity as any of your shifted forms. Another great option is the Eladrin with its Misty Step variations, or the Firbolg with Disguise Self and Hidden Step. Enjoy!

    • @TheSinisterheroes

      Omg!!!! That is alot of really flavorful and mechanically awesome ideas you just dropped.
      You must have a lot of experience with this subclass or at least with trickster builds or characters or illusions.
      The most important thing about illusion magics is creativity. Followed closely by a dm who is comfortable with illusions as a whole.
      Those are serious some cool ideas!!!

      Thank you! And thanks again for your in-depth and thoughtful discussion of the tone, motivation, and ethos of the class. As for my homebrew ideas, I admit that I got obsessed at a certain point, but it was a labor of love. I've played a couple of trickery domain characters, and I've DMed for another one more recently. I have to say my favorite was a Halfling named Calvin. He used the Bountiful Luck feat and the Silvery Barbs spell to great effect, consistently flipping the tables. And yes, his buddy was a Tabaxi Swashbuckler Rogue named Hobbes... Shenanigans in Wild Beyond the Witchlight! 👱‍♂️🐯

    There was a miniseries from about 2000 called 'The 10th Kingdom', 3 fairies in a swamp are arguing about who gets to "be naughty". At least in my mind, that scene sums up the overall mind set of fey.

      Lol they can get nasty the fey. To them everything is to be toyed with. Like lives don’t matter to them but other fey. They trap you in the fey, you don’t age till you leave and time moves sooooo fast there you think your there for 20 minutes and then like 40 years pass. You go back to your world and you age all at once the time you lost. They drug you and charm you into doing what ever they feel like. Even degrading things. There horrible things those fey…. I had a bit of a difficult time deciding what class best suits Velvet the final member of hazbin hotels Vees and I personally think that the trickery domain works best this character's name is Vivian Stellaris a trickery domain fairy fashion designer who wants to manipulate and control a village or city settlement on the material plane though the fashion, illusions and enchantment magic that she is proficient in and her personality is much more secretive and manipulative than the other two characters from this hazbin hotel character concept thing I have been doing and is a lot more bold and self centered than the other two characters I honestly hope you all have had fun learning about Vivian Stellaris, Valentine Grimmsly and V mindscrew and I do want to warn sin that if he wants to watch hazbin hotel be careful of episode 4 because it talks about sexual abuse in great detail and it is not meant for kids

    • @TheSinisterheroes
      @TheSinisterheroes  3 месяца назад +1

      I think trickery domain has a lot to overcome. Mainly because it’s a cleric. To break away from that mentality is hard, especially considering how you get pigeon held into healing, which is very counter productive to the trickery domain.
      That being said they need extra attack or something to give them a purpose in melee because they miss out a lot without it.

    according to chapter 1 of the DMG a cleric does not need to be associated with any deity.

    • @TheSinisterheroes
      @TheSinisterheroes  10 месяцев назад +1

      I find it easier to play a cleric associated with a deity. You do have to chose a domain, I find it easier when you can tie that to the characteristics of a deity, you can use that to create a sense of how you fit into that domain. As in understanding what brings joy to that deity, would help to sculpt your actions or how you strive to act.
      You don’t need a deity, but I find it is more flavorful.

    First of all, you might need Subtle Spell from Meta Magic Adept because Charm Person needs Verbal component which means target will find out if you are trying to cast spell during social situation.
    As strange as it sounds Charmed Creature cannot harm Charmer, but can do so at other creatures including Charmer's buddies
    It is rather sad that other cool spells like Pass w/o Trace are overlooked .
    For Illusion, it not only bars Cleric to use many useful Concentration spells like Bain, it also hinders usage of Spiritual Weapon.
    In case of 1turn Invisibility, you cannot Dash because Invisibility and Dash both need Action .
    I think either 3 lv Echo Knight Fighter (for better Duplicate) or 2 lv of Rogue (for Sneak Attack to supplement weapon dmg and Cunning Action) would help this class immensely.

    • @TheSinisterheroes
      @TheSinisterheroes  2 года назад

      Very valid points. As always you have a very good take on it. Pass with out a trace is an awesome spell. I think charm gets a bad wrap cus when you get it your spell save is so low it’s hard to use and it draws people away. Oh the sweet love that is the echo knight! I’ll get to it soon

      @@TheSinisterheroes For social situation, Sorcerers who has access to Subtle Spell with good amount of Sorcerer pt and much better Cha stat would use Charm Person much better than Trickery Clerics, and even then, usefulness of Charm Person is questionable due to "When the spell ends, the creature knows it was charmed by you."
      At least for this spell, I think god of mischief pulled a joke on Trickery Clerics.

    • @TheSinisterheroes
      @TheSinisterheroes  2 года назад

      🤣😂🤣 I see what you did there!!! I think that part of the spell scares more people than it should. The target knows it was charmed by you. Should mean more than it goes after you. It should be a thing where the target should have to decide what if they get charmed again? Or fear that maybe the caster could do much worse if they went after them. A lot of DM’s run it as it’s over now there going to stop you or chase you down, but if you know someone used magic to manipulate you would you go after them? I think getting caught is the best part. Mischief makers need people to know it was them you know?
