Dancing lights is awesome for Drow because its range matches their darkvision. So, when the enemy is 100 ft out, and only you can see them, and they can't see your party, you cast the 4 globes directly over 4 enemies, or more if they're grouped tightly. Suddenly they are bathed in dim light. They still can't see you, but now your entire party can see them. Congratulations, you just gave your entire party advantage at the cost of a cantrip, and only a bonus action to keep moving it afterwards to keep them marked if they move out of the light.

I had Drow character named Vivian. She was an insanely crazy Alchemist. She discovered the formula to TNT. On the day she discovered AT&T was the day that her lab exploded, and the shockwave ruined a brand new statue of loss. She was sent on a redemption quest. She pulled off the mission, but ended up having an alignment change where she became chaotic good. She became an outcast, the shenanigans that happened during her redemption Mission was funny as hell.

We’re you able to make tnt in game ?
What kind of shenanigans occurred? I’d love to know.
I tend to play Drow quite alot especially as of late. I think they have such great backgrounds, and such a complex relationship, with lolth, with each other, and the rest of the world.

I play a drow. It’s my first ever character and I went with an experience and knowledge I faced in my own life. One, no matter how open your parent is you will never truly know fully the life they have lived as you are limited by the scope of what they wish to share, what they or your relatives remember to share, and just having grown up in a different generation with a different story and life led. So this is one story I folded into my drow’s upbringing. This leads into the next part I made a core part of my drow. His mother was a runaway drow woman from the underdark who carries with her a deep suspicion of other drow. She was pregnant as she escaped and that is my drow. As he was born on the surface, and his other avoided teaching him a great deal of what was common in drow culture, he grew up with only what she herself had a difficult time unlearning (and having no context for it, and still facing the surface world prejudice against drow. So he his story is one of being dissociated from the culture he is perceived to have but getting all the negative experiences of others assuming he is a drow raised as a drow where he grew up. Not all is bad. He did have a good family. His mother was amazing and someone he deeply admires and she married his step father, a half moon elf man and the pair gave my drow three younger half sisters. My drow deeply enjoyed his role as an eldest brother despite his introverted personality. His story starts in the campaign he is in with him having finally reached an age of adulthood for elves and deciding to make a journey for himself, especially given how his own family is getting a tad too large for his introverted nature to feel comfortable in. He is a community motivated individual despite his social anxiety and shyness though and that has slowly won him friends and a community to protect as much as he can with his abilities. He does know some things about underdark life and flora and fauna through some stories his mother told him growing up, and he knows undercommon too. He learned all his ranger skills from his step father however. In the campaign he is in he hasn’t met drow but has met duergar and he is learning to face the draw he has to the underdark and it’s cultural connection to himself and also facing down some of his own learned prejudice and suspicion of underdark denizens and learning to make judgements himself. It’s doing quite well and I’m so glad my party and dm love the story I’m telling with this character. And yeah, I’m drawing this from some of my own experiences, either personal or from what I know of my own family’s experiences too. So I guess this is kinda a subtext story. Like for instance, the early contrast of him going from covering his face when town guards pass by to being own and recognized, even waved at in a friendly manner with them. The first being a reaction he learned from early life experiences and the last being what he has built of his reputation now. It’s fun! I love playing a drow!

I can really tell that you put so much work into this character. Grabbing things as a reflection of your life is a great way to tie your self into your character. A lot of professionals say that it’s a great way to help work through personal issues in a safe way, and I really encourage that. I really like the part where he has social anxiety and yet still is driven to help those around him. It has this great subtlety of true Drow to it. What I mean is that Drow would never let that kind of mentality stop them, they would painfully purge that from themselves, but since he wasn’t raised like a Drow he found a way to still combat that. As he still could not let that get in the way of his goals. Very cool way to show Drow strength but that compassion he has gained from his upbringing.

Playing a Drow Cleric of Vhaeraun at the moment, and I purposefully made his life normal and not edgy, he just tells people that so they don't assume anything. He also has a bunch of kids and loves them all dearly.
And since Vhaeraun is a very active member in his followers' lives, he gets to deal with my PC's awful puns.

I love the Drow! I played a Ranger (Gloomstalker) & Fighter-Monk (Kensei) multi class. Unfortunately I went up to 6th level before our campaign had to end. Our DM had to move from Japan due to sudden end of work contract. Both characters were chaotic good in honor of Drizzt Do' Urden. These two characters were a dynamic duo. A combination of ranged and CQB skimirsher was a good dynamic. I wanted to finished the adventure with these two guys.

I love this video, I really have a special place in my heart for Drow and I'm glad they're getting more love. I've made evil Drow in the past (I just love a powerful female villian/antihero) and am trying a good route soon. I'm currently crafting a Drow Life Cleric/College of Swords Bard of Elistraee who was born on the surface. While he was brought up with the teachings of Elistraee and understands why Drow are hated on the surface he hasn't really experienced any of it. He wants to adventure so that he can improve his sword skills but also spread awareness that not all Drow are bad (Elistraee's teachings). I am leaning him towards being cocky and eccentric though since most Drow genetically have a need to be the best/superior.
His parents escaped the Underdark because his mother was tasked to sacrifice her consort (my Drow's father) to Lolth. This led his mother to reject Lolth, embrace Elistraee and try to escape the Underdark with his father. With the help of Elistraee's knights they were able to escape and eventually became knights who aid other Drow in escaping the Underdark. My Drow looks up to his parents and hopes to follow in their footsteps one day.
There are so many ways to approach Drow and now with them getting new lore and subraces the possibilities keep growing. I also like the replayability potential since Drow can live long lives but do not necessarily go through transience like other elves. This means that lore-wise they can begin living as adults at younger ages unlike other elves who don't reach maturity until 100-ish.

I am very pleased with the resurgence of Drow interest and the new direction they are going with.
I originally didn’t like them but once I played one and got real deep into the lore that’s when I started to really like them a lot. There now one of my favorite characters to play.

I play a drow fighter who just became an eldritch knight. He's chaotic neutral, flamboyant, paranoid, and he absolutely hates anyone who isn't a part of his party. He also "affectionately" claims the party as his pets, and views our entire campaign as an exercise in futility.
He also has no qualms about the other party members seeing him naked. 😂

Drow "Species" is a misnomer considering all elves including them are basically the same. This change of WoTC made not only no sense but by all definitions of species Half Elves, Half Orcs (Well in lore all Orcs, as there is no such thing as a pure Orc), the Warforged, and most Outsiders don't even fit. They really need to use another term lol.

I really enjoy collage of the sword did you take dueling or two weapon as your fighting style? I know a lot of people are having issue with race and species. I get the scientific portion as it is inherently not an offensive term. I just don’t want to deter anyone who might feel differently, since that is the term wotc is using I am adopting it.
Personal opinions aside I am really not trying to cause people to feel negatively.
In all actuality I get a message pretty similar to yours alot. Sincerely what would you do in my situation?

@@TheSinisterheroes Totally understand, I've been playing since Chain Mail stopped just after 2.5 and back into it again. Dueling, thought about 2 weapon but can do more and its more inline with my char. Son of 2 Old 2.5 Chars. so what i would do, its kind of a cop out but it works ie i hate the species no matter how wotc uses it for Chars. for creatures yes fine. so cop out way Race/species, you use what we all know and have used for decades, and a slight nod and middle finger to the WOTC cash mongers that have no clue what a table top is (no offense to XBOX) but they were Xbox X-employees and cant get their head outta teh its a video game. I could rant about them for a long time. back in the day i was a tester for TSR. Later jumped on with a company to do a sci-fi RPG WOTC bought them and shut them down. I have no love for the WOTC staff other than the original old timers, and a hand full of new ones i'm learning about.
