7-WOOD vs 4-HYBRID vs 3-IRON | SHOULD YOU PLAY A HYBRID, HIGH LOFTED FAIRWAY WOOD, OR IRON?

Should you have a hybrid, higher lofted fairway wood or utility driving iron in your bag. This is a popular yet challenging decision that golfers face when deciding the best clubs to gap between their longest iron and fairway woods they play. This test includes an in-depth comparison of three different types of clubs that all have 21° of loft but play at different lengths and have very different Center of Gravity positions. Higher lofted fairway woods do perform very well for certain players needing more height and spin because of the higher launch-angle & steeper landing angles they provide. Fairway woods and certain hybrids feature a larger clubhead shape with more weight pulled back to create a higher launch. In this video Thomas Campbell, the Director of Instruction at Swing Lab Performance Golf is joined by fellow teaching professional Ian Mackenzie-Olson, and they compare the performance of a 3 iron / utility driving iron a 4- hybrid & a 7-wood utilizing Trackman technology. Thomas conducts the test with a more moderate speed, while Ian hits the shots with a faster club speed to show a wide range of performance differences for the many types of golfers.
