    Best explanation of the difference between the 2 clubs that I have seen, mostly because you presented it in an simple easy to understand way, well done! I had been researching this exact thing recently. I historically have difficulty hitting hybrids for what ever reason and I was wondering if I really needed one ( and of course learn how to hit it better). Having watched your video I think I can put that on the back burner and concentrate on other things now.

    I used to swap them out course and weather dependant, but as I age the 7 wood rules most of the time, its just more flexible especially for the approx 200 yard par threes

    I've carried a 7 wood for years. I love it because of the loft and stopping power. I own 2 hybrids which both found a deserved place in my collection of clubs at home. I totally agree that the hybrids do have a draw flight but too much for my liking at times. Also my hybrids, which are Callaway, have a closed look at address. This takes away my confidence in hitting a clean straight shot.

      You need to find some Adams V3 hybrids as I have played the Adama Idea Tech V3 forged for 10 years now and Carry 3h-19*, 4h-22*, 5h-25* & 6h-29* and I can spin the ball back with everyone as they are the only Hybrids I have ever hit that have sharp grooves! I also only play one FW Wood and its an Admas Sweet 16 * tight lies newer wood. One of the easiest FW woods to ever hit off the fairways!! Even the old originals are some of the best FW ever to be made!!!

    What i find interesting is both clubs are the same loft, assuming around 21*. But travel similar carry distances based on your data even though the 7w has 6 more yards of peak height. Yet a 7w is going to be around 42" while a 4hy is going to be around 40".

    Interesting video mate . I recently went back to a seven wood after many years . I absolutely love this club as it’s easier to hit with height and let’s face it , it is the equivalent of a four iron . A lot of people struggle with their long irons . 👍🏌️‍♀️⛳️

    I have a Titleist 980-f 21-degree fairway wood (7 wood ) I have been playing for years. I bought it for $20.00 maybe? And over time as I`ve aged, the club has aged with me. So what I have done, Is I have had a senior flex shaft put on it and I have opted to leave the shaft length at 46 inches, Now I have vertically and it really is my go to club.

    Ypur chart showed dispersion which you did not discuss. My experience matched your chart in that the dispersion on the 7 wood is larger. Another thing you did not address was hitting a low punch shot where the 4 hybrid is dramatically better. I have both clubs and will swap them out based on the course I will be playing. I do find myself using the hybrid more often. I am a 75 year old senior with a 12 index.

    I got rid of my hybrids and replaced them with long irons rather than woods - Mizuno Fli Hi 2- and 3-irons - and I absolutely love hitting them. Not sure a 7-wood would have a place in the bag, but it would be interesting to try one.

    Mix of pros and cons. Having lived in the US Midwest, Texas and Oklahoma, the wind conditions can play a major role. The higher you hit it, with a fairway wood, the more the wind can move it. If the wind is 10+ mph, I would be using a hybrid.

  • @cameronloveless1751

    You cherry picked hitting with the wind, and then hit a low hook with the hybrid - no wonder it looked super low on the shot racer. Reverse that and hit into the wind, and I’m picking the hybrid all day. Everyone is on the bandwagon of 7W and even 9W at the moment, but they are really hard to flight down, which makes them pretty one-dimensional. Whereas a 4hybrid can be more easily kept low into the wind, but can also hit a high fade to get it landing soft. For me Hybrid is the perfect compromise between the wood and long iron.

    • @GolfMonthly
      @GolfMonthly  Год назад

      A hybrid is definitely an easier club to hit from the rough. I would say the 7 wood is still workable from poor lies providing the ball isn't buried down too much and it can still progress the ball well in the rough - the hybrid is still easier though. I think this could be a comparison test for another video soon!

    I find the 7 wood flies further than the 4 hybrid.....and especially so if I hit a lower shot. Probably about a 20 yard difference. I'm wary about using a 7 wood on a 200 yd hole....just because that ball can really fly. Hybrid is more accurate.....and a safer choice. For me, the 7 wood is a great long fairway shot. Better than hitting a 3 or 5 wood, in regard to consistency and loft.
