Don’t know why this channel gets so much hate they make cool looking blades, sure they might damage the blade in the process or change parts of the tool itself but it looks great, I’d love to see any normal person try doing what they do and get it to look so clean. Just because it’s more of a customisation than a restoration doesn’t mean this much hate is necessary, he did what he could and it ended up as a cool result. Thanks.
Probably was made from truck leaf spring.I too got my knack from refurbishing from junk shops. In his videos, haters pounce over title he calls blades. In every part of world, different blades have different purpose.Great thing about collecting,refurbishing..It is what ever he see's holding it in hand.I have refurbished ,crafted most of my life.I can always learn things from what other craftsmen see within their project.PAKISTAN,INDIA,GUAM,THAILAND,always something that can alter my own idea in my own way.Thank you sir for posting your aspect..Cheers!!!!
Also his blade was "Tapered" thin to tip.So obviously a little rust could of weakened tip where to make clean and safe again, would need trimming back. This gentlemen chose the shape he thought in HIS REGION WOULD BE MOST USEFUL...Maybe he butchers livestock where that tip is most desirable for cleaning rib bone meat, cracking brisket..Also making the blade harder would have a better purpose for this. The edge was thinner and spine thicker,so called experts should know spine wont reach as hard as edge due to this. This could be a really fine blade now.
Just a bit of advice I liked the restoration but you should instead try to make holes that are the general size of the tang of the blade and then sand down the hole on the handle until it fits more snug onto the tang and it will last a lot longer and make it more durable
Tip. Put a wet towel or a cloth under the sharpening stone it stops the sliding and you can use both hands to sharpen the knife. Big like for the videos.
You are getting better. Fittings are looking not too shaby and the pins have no gaps. Liked the idea how you filled the hole in the styrofoam with sand in order to form a hole. Going to use that method myself.
Man of the north lost wax casting is cleaner casting but has to be done with plaster and then cooked to remove the wax once the wax has burnt out any metal like brass or copper can be poured in while the mold is still hot, the hotter the better. You should try both and see which you like the best. There are plenty of videos on lost wax casting and styrene too. The styrene method is cheaper but leaves the cast messy with a lot of clean up.
I love your videos. They are one of the best restoration videos out there. Keep up the good work and I hope you post more often I keep my notifications on.
You took the perfect opportunity to make a classic seax and made this instead? In addition, your technique causes more work than is necessary to achieve the finished product. Having said that,I applaud your efforts and the fact that you are doing something. Keep going. The more you do, the better your technique and design choices will be.

With so many power tools at your disposal I'm surprised you didn't use them for more parts of the job, Well you started with a knife and ended with a knife so you broke even I reckon
We started off with the bush machete and ended with a kind of tapanga machete with the tip of a parang machete. We still came out with a fairly useful tool. and I'm sure some African warlord would adore it
Why are people hating so much? It he's channel if he wants to do something different so whatever plus I douth that this comment section is full of people who could do better
Anyone that makes a negative comment about this clearly has NEVER restored anything!!!! The fact that he did most of the work with an angle grinder and a dremel is impressive in my opinion.
Dude, he didnt restore it, he just made a new knife from a rusted piece of metal. Also, the weight must be stable, and with the brass its quite heavier.
