- HI everyone!
We are back in the studio and pleased to do yet another long podcast for you!
This time, we will crochet some flowers while we talk about a number of different things, so pull up your favourite chair, pour yourself a cup og tea, grab your crochet or knitting and let's get started!. The flowers are part of a large throw that we showed in a LiveStream, last year and we were contacted by many people about the pattern. How to crochet a flower.
We are delighted to let you know that finally, you can get the pattern for this colourful floral throw on our website.

I balked at 8 dollars for a pattern, but as I watched this, and watched the joining stitch and viewed the finished blanket on the seat of your car, I'm more like shut up and take my money! It is breathtaking work, and will be worth every cent for all the work you have put into it.. headed back over to the shop, this is a must have pattern!
Thank you for your support!
I love listening to these two artists! They do beautiful work. I am amazed at how FAST Arne crochets! Arne and Carlos are awesome.
Arne is very strong to be able to snap the yarn instead of using scissors. He is a fast crocheter...beautiful work.
Thank you for watching, Arne is very strong!
@@ARNECARLOS amazing how he breaks that yarn, and amazingly fast crocheter! Lots of beautiful knitting and crocheting. Keep up the good work!
Yes I was also thinking he has nimble strong hands, perfect for this work!
I so enjoy watching Arne crochet or knit , while Carlos chats and tells stories. Absolutely stunning throw! This is easily the modern edition to a granny square throw. What a fabulous heirloom for generations to come. Thank you so much❤️ ✌🏻❤️🧶. Btw. Arne your English is very good. And getting better all the time ❤️👍🏻
Thank you for watching and your kind words.
I have RA and watching this type of podcast is very relaxing and takes the mind off of the pain. It seems to be more relaxing for you and Arne also. Very enjoyable
Thank you for watching! We have several more on our channel site, just look for the knitting radio playlist.
You two will adore Santa Fe and Taos...my husband's and my favorite place. Taos has a wool festival the first weekend in October every year. We live in Colorado about 8 hours north and it's our tradition to spend Christmas eve there. My maternal relatives are Norwegian from the Oppland area and I think they came to Colorado because it reminded them of home. I'm happy I grew up here, so close to New Mexico.
Disregard above as I was watching a different podcast where you had not yet been to New Mexico. Now you have.
Hello Arne and Carlos..just want to say thank you for a lovely podcast. I am currently learning to crochet and your work and company is a constant source of inspiration for me. I was sorry to hear you have been so I'll Carlos and am glad to hear you are better. Arne you my craft guru thank you. Take care both xx
Good luck with your continued learning, thank you for watching!
If Arne was a super hero he would have to be "The Flash" because he crochets so fast!
So much fun watching Arne crochet as Carlos talks. Arne crochets like I do...fast! I do so because I want to get to the next project. Thank you for another podcast RUclips!
Thank you for watching!
❤️
I love how Arne holds his crochet hook, fabulous....It's been pointed out to me I don't hold my hook the proper way, I could care less as long as it gets the job done...we're not in the Victorian Era....
Hi Elizabeth, we do agree. It is more important that you are creative than always being correct!
Hi Arne and Carlos! :) I am SO SORRY you were ill Carlos but grateful you are feeling better! I absolutely ADORE the floral throw! It is gorgeous! I love that you can use up your stash too! What a priceless gift it would make for all ages. I can't wait to get the pattern! Have a wonderful new week! Sending blessings your way!
Have a great weekend as well!
Love the blanket and the radio pod cast....I love radio. Have a great evening
You as well!
Our weather in California has been like winter again - heavy rain and hail near the coast and snow in the Sierra Nevada. I am enjoying watching your flower evolve. You are correct in saying that if we see it done, then the directions will make more sense. One of my friends, Heidi, will be going on your cruise on the 28th. I wish that I could have gone too.
Maybe you can join us another time!
Hi Gu
I got chance to watch beautiful crochet flowers. I see this year old. But enjoyed this very much.
I can crochet fast too . But I feel like you know what you are crochet you build up speed. I watch something new . Enjoyed watching and learning.
Thank you for watching Emily!
How is it an hour has passed; it seems like I just clicked a few minutes ago. What an awesome vid! Arne, your crocheting is absolutely mesmerizing, the word that actually comes to mind is tranquility. I’m so excited to start my flower afghan. I’ve been looking all over the internet for different patterns similar to yours and have been frustrated, because I need this for my son and his SO. They’re moving into their new home and both love sunflowers. This will be their housewarming gift. Thanks again for such a wonderful video and for making your pattern available. Ok, gotta go make a purchase.
Wow, that is such a generous gift. I do hope they appreciate it and all the work that you put into it.
ARNE & CARLOS Without a doubt, I know they will and are looking forward to receiving it. While they are fairly young, early 20s, I see their relationship lasting for many years to come. I’m so excited to make this for them! Thanks again for making the pattern available and for having an awesome RUclips channel. I always look forward to your next video. ❤️✌🏻
ARNE & CARLOS After seeing the pic of you guys in your Bug I know after making an afghan for the kids I’m going to make one to keep in my (not vintage, but still loved) Bug, if for no other reason than it looks so cool!
Hi guy's.I am in the USA..this is my first time seeing you..it won't be my last, really enjoying you. Those flowers are beautiful..i have been teaching myself to knit and I need help lol..so I will watching you..thanks for what you do.
Welcome to our channel and keep on practicing your knitting!
Chair! Lol it's a lazy Sunday afternoon and it's getting warm out! I'm sacked out on the couch!! Lolololol
Enjoy your Sunday! The best day.
Yes the best day ! The only thing sad about Sunday is that it's followed by Monday! Back into the teaching world for 2 more week then! Summer holiday! Crocheting, taking care of the animals! And relaxing ! For a well deserved break! I hope you guys have an amazing summer! 😎😎🤗 Kathy in Ohio! The only thing that would be a higher point for the summer is if you guys came to Ohio!! Lol.
I love, love, love your crochet charts. Thanks so much!
You are welcome❤️❤️
I love to live where you live, its a beautiful place, people need to read up on peoples country if they dont travel to educate them self. Love your podcast love sent.
Thank you Pamela!
You don’t need social media because you have a rich full life. Bravo for you.
I can’t imagine crocheting that fast. I hold breath while watching him. It’s very fun to watch your shows.
Love your hard work.
Arne, you are very very special,
Thank you.
Thank you for watching!
I appreciate how you respond to the comments made by your viewers. Many vloggers never bother, which does nothing to create a sense of community.
Thank you, we try to respond to as many as we can!
I 💕 the BOTH of you for a great hour and then some. I haven't crocheted in years. You're pulling me back in. Have to wait, still working on my crazy quit pillows from the winter videos😂. Adore you both. Have a Blessed week, and safe travels.
Never to late to pick it up again.
These flowers are adorable, and the end result is absolutely amazing. Thank you for the tips on which yarns are best to use.
This blanket is definitely one that will become a family heirloom.
Carlos so glad to hear your all better now.
Arne you made me laugh because that’s what I say to my husband, “I’m counting now” or if I ignore him he says “are you counting?”
I don’t t even reply I just nod and he stops talking, when I finish counting I pick up the conversation where he left of.
I think a lot of viewer’s can relate to this!
I agree with you Carlos, radio is a wonderful medium. I love the fact that you can be entertained and/or educated while doing something else. It means you get double the value for your time, so to speak!
That is such a good point.
I always love your podcast. You two like my friend, linked by yarn, your garden, lake and of course I like to knit while listening your guy. (I lived in Thailand which super hot climate so knitting is not a popular hobby here, I knitted for fun but rarely use my own handicraft due to the weather)
What types of hobbies are popular in Thailand?
@@ARNECARLOS Crochet because it's suitable for Thailand weather but in my opinion, no matter crochet or knitting or other hobby is not mainstream in Thailand for sure. Any DIY has not integrated with this culture. Ok, we have a lot of craftsmanship but most of all it's for selling or living not for a hobby (which mean activity done for pleasure). The side effect of it is craft store is super rare with less variation. For example yarn, 90% yarn store I met in Thailand sell only cheap low-quality Acrylic, may have some cotton sell at a reasonable price. For wool or merino or others is difficult to find a shop sold (and the price/1 ball is about minimum wage of Thais
which too pricey for me btw)
Arne, your English is charming. I love to hear you speak, especially when you slip into Norweigan while searching for a word.
Thank you!
Hello Arne 💝Carlos
You are lovely to watch and listen to. The podcast was genius from genii. Brilliant crocheting - thanks.
Thank you Sharon!
Just found your podcast enjoyed it so much I love listening to you talk all about your life and your adventures I'm just no woman living in Georgia in the United States haven't been out of my house in 4 years so it's nice to hear somebody having a good time help your trips are wonderful
Hi Linda, welcome to our channel! We have several of these on our channel.
Thank you for a super FAST WORKING DEMO on this blanket you have inspired me to make this love the flowers. Pattern is very well written love the charts.
Glad to hear that!
Yay - I’m so glad to have your Hedvig Floral Crochet Throw pattern. I’m making it for my mom for her blue Volkswagon. I also started Gunnhild last week. I dropped a stage weight on my left hand and broke my middle finger so knitting is challenging. But I can crochet! So I’m learning on your beautiful blankets. Thank you!
Oh, that sounds painful. We hope you will get better soon.
@@ARNECARLOS I just finished by Hedvig and gave it to my mom. She loves it. And she's cruising around with the top down on her blue VW bug convertible with it. Thank you Arne & Carlos!
This blanket is so beautiful love all colors on the flowers. Hope to crouchet this sometime. Thank A&C for sharing.
Yes, you should try it Velma. Have a great week!
I love you guys! I visit with you every single day...you make me laugh during these very uncertain times...and of learning so much of your culture and beautiful knitting! Please don’t go away 😍
I just love spending Sunday afternoon with you guys (and Freyja). Thank you for the pattern.
You are welcome, thank you for watching!
Carlos you'd be excellent in radio, you have a great voice, you're knowledgeable about so much & you explain things well. Arne, you & I have the same interests in gardening & antiques. Like you, I'd never be able to sell any antiques.🤣
Think you for your kind words.
So enjoyed all you shared with us. I find you both so very interesting and fun. My dream would be to join you both in your travels. Seriously! Arne was very funny! I had a good laugh all by myself while I worked at the same time watching the crocheting of the beautiful blanket. That was a good one Arne! Hilarious 😂
We are glad you liked the podcast!
Oh goodness Arne I wish I could crochet as well and as fast as you. Thank you for sharing Arne and thank you Carlos.
Just love you guys i will fallow. You guys to the moon and back just love you. Im glad your here showing us all the stuff you are so good at
Thank you!
Hello guys, loved the video. Beautiful and wonderful flowers, I think it is really easy to crochet. Adored to see Freja, I'm waiting for the next video. Kisses and Hugs from Brazil, congratulations.💋👍🌸🌞
Hi Brazil!
Stunning and fabulous as always. Good color sense , both of you All of your training and work that got you where you are today shows through . You are very talented
Thank you Denise, practice makes perfect!
Love watching your hands work, its like watching a painter.
Thank you and thank you for watching!
My two favorite men, good to see you both back, and healthy. I am a knitter not a crocheter, but I will start learning just to make this blanket. I think it is gorgeous. Thank you.
I so enjoyed this podcast. I learned to crochet from my Grandmother when I was very young. She used it to teach me to count and make thread crochet doilies. These flowers so reminded me of this time. I haven't crocheted now kn a long time, since taking up knitting some long years ago. You have inspired me to pick it back up or not have it an orphaned skill. Thank you again for an interesting podcast. Carlos, you would be a great radio personality.
Thank you and do pick up crocheting again. You grandmother sounds like a great inspiration
Wow Beautiful flowers I’m a Gardner and a florist and I love what you’re doing I’m going to get your pattern it’s stunning it’s like a walk in the garden xxx yes I also paint I just love 💕 to create and I craft all the time I can’t knit but I crochet since I’ve been 14 years old I’ve try’s and tried to knit but there’s more holes in my knitting then there is in my crocheting xx 😘
Thank you! We find so much inspiration in the nature surrounding us!
Arne, your English is beautiful and truly IS getting better. No apologies needed. I'm so happy you are feeling better, Carlos. Thanks to both for all your hard work and I love that you are both so talented and willing to share. I've been watching for a year or more, have a couple of your books and am looking forward to more. My book is Knitting in Antarctica and has 28 hat patterns and took 10 years so I get that it takes a while to get a book together.
Thank you for watching and your kind words!
I totally 'got' what Arne was saying about 'crocheting faster'. :o) I find Arne really funny/humorous, and Carlos informative. It's a fine mix.
Thank you!
You guys are delightful! Such beautiful work. Your English skills are fantastic, so glad I found you guys!
Thank yoi very much Loraine, we are glad you made your way to our channel!
Oh my gosh! I never knew I could change the play back speed! Thank you!!
I actually have PTSD that is triggered by sped up video. There are so many crafts and decorating that I love to watch and learn about so much but I can’t watch them. Until now! Thank you so so much.
This afghan is so beautiful.
I inherited 3 skeins of beautiful forest green Virgin Wool yarn, probably from the 1980s. I would really love some suggestions on what to make with it. It’s so special that I want to make something I can enjoy for a very long time.
Thank you again. A whole new world is now open to me because you shared about the play back speed.
We know! RUclips will never be the same😀
I could watch Arne crocheting all day!!! It’s magical!!!
Glad to hear that!
I am so happy that this pattern is now available and an hour podcast to watch - you are spoiling us ♥️♥️
Glad you like it!
Please keep going forever. At least until I turn 60 in August 2025 so I can celebrate on a knitting cruise with you both as my guides! A dream!!! My friends in Stavanger have been sailing so good weather for that.
We will not stop and at least aim for 2025.
@@ARNECARLOS you are just lovely people.
Some people have voices that are not so pleasant to listen to, but you both have voices that are very well suited to radio and you are interesting to listen to. You would do very well in a radio career imo😊
Thank you for your kind words!
Oh my goodness, my girlfriend and I drove around just outside of Toronto in her Beetle and it was a 1969 model. We had some amazing adventures in that car. You just brought back some great memories❤️
You are welcome!
I don’t use Animal-based yarns, so I experimented with regular acrylic and a cheap-ish cotton and happily, was not disappointed. I’ve made two king-sized blankets with this pattern thus far; one in acrylic and one in cotton. Both are extraordinarily beautiful and comfy to cuddle up with. The acrylic washes up perfectly and is super soft and has a lovely lacy appearance, not to mention is surprisingly warm! The cotton did wash up a tad stiff the first time, but the second time I washed it, it turned out very soft, warm and cozy!
Thank you for sharing!
I purchased this pattern recently and I am really enjoying it. It’s very clear and easy to understand. I am following you both now an enjoy your posts. You are such good company
We are glad you are enjoying the pattern!
Wow! The flowers are beautiful - you make it look so easy.
Well, practice makes perfect!
I love you both! You don’t know but you are my best friends! I love the way you live ! Thank you for sharing
Thank you for watching and supporting us!
What a treat! The hour flew by. Carlos “in the groove” trended about forty years ago! To hear Carlos’s great voice and to watch Arne’s hands creating beautiful work is so relaxing. I did knit on a shawl which is intuitive knitting. Happy summer and travels to you and you. Cheers!🇨🇦
Happy summer to you too.
I hope you don’t mind me making another comment. This has been a really great podcast, watching Arne crochet and listening to Carlos talk in the background while I knit on a shawl. Taos, NM is only 5 hours from where I live in Texas! I would love to see you guys! Thanks again for sharing with us today 😊
We love reading all your comments!
Love this! A wonderful way to use up left over yarn, and also a good excuse to buy new yarn! Thanks for sharing.
Always good to use up those left overs.
Of course we'll tune in, for you always! I love what you do and I love watching you two interact with each other. You two look like so much fun to hang out with and knit and crochet! I am about to get on your website and buy up this cool pattern, can't wait to start this blanket!!!!!!! So cool!
Good luck with your blanket!
@@ARNECARLOS Thank you, I will try my best to do it justice! Lol.....
Just bought this pattern. Wow, very detailed and beautiful charts. Gives me confidence I can accomplish this.
Good luck Diane and thank you for supporting us!
Playback speed is a wonderful tool. Mine is set at x2 so I get through twice as much. Thanks for the insight on what influences trends. Very interesting.
Thank you for watching!
An hour does go by fast ! I'm crocheting a blanket but now I want to start these flowers with all my leftover yarns , they make me think Spring. I think too much digital use slows creativity , we need to be inspired by nature and use our imaginations more . Look forward to what your future holds, thanks for sharing, have a wonderful week !
Yes, it is a great Spring and Summer project, perfect for those lazy summer nights.
@@ARNECARLOS I purchased the pattern, very well written thank you ! I look forward to our weather warming up so I can go out to my patio, watch my birds and crochet this throw !
Thanks for this lovely pattern. I’ve been waiting for it x it’s lovely I love flower crochet blankets x
You are welcome!
I LOVE TO CROCHET! More please and thank you. With love from Princeton New Jersey USA!
Hi Princeton!
This is so very stunning - when I'm ready I will purchase this design
This pattern is beautiful. Thank you for taking the time to show us how it's done.
No worries, thank you for watching!
Great video format. I loved the discussion on trends and purchased this pattern. I'm not the best at crochet but want to make it. I love the uniqueness of this pattern.
Practice makes perfect! Thank you for supporting us.
Amazing colorful flowers, it's so beautiful. Thank you for sharing and a good week for both!
Good week to you too!
That is beautiful.
Thank you!
Beautiful design. Thoroughly enjoyed, while I crocheted (with the air conditioner on here) on a hexagon blanket, another great stash buster.
Thank you!
I would so enjoy listening to both of you every day....I love to rewatch your podcasts over and aver again
That is so nice to hear Sharon!
Oh my! I’m only one minute in and I’m HOOOKED! The throw is just lovely! The lamp on the table beside your sofa is also stunning!
Thank you so much for your compliment!
Thank you for showing us. Sometimes visual is easier to understand then reading the pattern.😀
Yes, that is true.
Beautiful work, beautiful blanket and great conversation!!! Love you two!!!!
Thank you! Have a great day.
Thanks for the podcast! I absolutely love the flower throw blankets! Its also snowing here in WY for the next few days as well. Just when the trees and flowers were coming alive. *sigh* Thank goodness for colorful crochet to cheer us up!!
Love the topics of discussion when you guys share these podcasts with us. Thanks for making our Sunday a Funday! ❤️❄️
Thank you for watching! Or listening.
Your blanket is beautiful. You are absolutely right to preserve your privacy life is short and we all need to live our lives and get stuff done.♥
I'm so excited about this beautiful flower power blanket. I just ordered the pattern along with a bunch of yarn. I already finished 6 flowers. Awesome!
Thank you for the interesting and stimulating conversation.
Thank you for watching Gail!
Thank you so much Arne & Carlos for making up this pattern. I just purchased it & so far have only looked thru. I love the format of the stitch symbols, and the pattern illustration is so easy to see the stitches & rounds. Can't wait to try it. So sorry Carlos that you were so ill with the flu! Do you get a flu shot? Of course, not every strain gets into the shots. So happy you are recovered now.
Thank you for your purchase and good luck with your crochet.
I love when you post crochet videos! Crochet is my favorite! Thank you!
You are welcome, glad you liked it!
Your beautiful and clear crystal clear charts were the gateway to allowing me to finally figure out this whole crochet thing. Guess I can confirm that I am a totally visual learner and reading words and text are lost on me when trying to figure out what my hands should be doing. Now I have to limit myself to only 3 flowers a day or I will never finish my knitting projects. But I confess, I’m in the hooking camp now as well. Thank you ever so much for a wonderful hour of listening.
😀 we are so happy that we were able to help!
So wonderful to watch you crochet, amazing
Thank you for watchinh!
You two are my favorite RUclips podcasters. I’ve made a bird from your book and a Christmas ball!! So much fun!! I’m working on plans to come to Knit City. I hope to take one of your workshops. Thank you for making my Sunday evening knitting so enjoyable!!
Thank you for watching and hope to see you in Knit City.
Omg the weather is crazy! I remember in the early 70s it snowed the 1st day of June and it was only a little dusting but crazy. I live in the Pacific Northwest! I love this beautiful flower design! Thank you so much!❤️
Thank you too for watching!
My first day joining you here, and I am having so much fun! Thank you, Carlos, for telling how to slow down the video speed.Looking on with help from your pattern words and the chart, I laugh and laugh as you talk at half speed while I watch Arne!
So beautiful! 🥰🧶💟
Thank you!
Core this is stunning beautiful work and colours.
Thank you!
Just bought your pattern, beautiful detail. Thanks so much. Love your photo. I'm going to put it up in my craft room, great inspiration!!!!
Thank you for your purchase!
Just got the pattern! Love this blanket and your podcasts! Very informative and entertaining. Look forward to your continued success and more shows and patterns.
Thank you for your support Mary!
I bought the Hedvig blanket pattern. The pattern is well written and the charts are beautiful and easy to understand. Started my blanket at the end of May. I am making mine with 27 different colors of Rowan Felted Tweed. I am totally addicted to it. Can't wait until it is done! I love your Pod Casts!
Wow, your blanket will be stunning in felted tweed! Do send us a photo when it's done, we'd love to see it! You can send it through our website at arnecarlos.com
Hi guys, love your channel and enjoying your stories very inspiring to take on new crochet projects ! 😊
Thank you!
Time flies when I listen to you. Thanks for all you share with us.
You are welcome, thank you for listening!
I love listening to both of you, your accents are so soothing! I am a crocheter and have a lot of ideas on hooks and in my head and now I have to stop everything and make these flowers. I'm not sure I will do a blanket (so many flowers to make) but maybe a sweater, do you think that will work? I can't believe Arne that you can break the yarn with your hands, ouch!!! Off to buy your pattern. Thanks. As always gorgeous work. Oh I'm making your lamb and cabbage dish again today.for guests.....soooooo good!!!!!!!! Hugs
We love the fårikål too! We hope your guests like it.
Yes Carlos, when I was in college studying Fashion Merchandising (my major ‘85) - we learned Fashion Repeats itself Every 30 years. ( I have always gone by intuition as well, and I am so different I consider myself as a trendsetter, rather than a follower;) 😆🤓🥳) And our Senior class in College went to NYC (Fall of 1985) to study fashion by touring designers, Parsons School of Design, Fashion Institute of Technology where we saw many original garments from Wizard of Oz, Gone with the Wind…
I am like Arne, I would rather be sewing, knitting, crocheting, gardening than social media. Knitting now as I watch Arne crochet those gorgeous flowers.
Thanks so much Arne and Carlos! You and your creations are just timeless, classic and beautiful. 🍀🌷🍀🌷🍀🥰
Thank you so much
The floral blanket is beautiful!
lovely flowers what you have made.
Thank you Pamela.
I just found y’all and love this. You should get paid for your work. I can’t imagine what it takes to do one pattern. Beautiful work. Have a great day from Texas, USA.
Thank you and welcome to our channel!
