- This is part one video of the cab mount chop. In this video the cuts and welding are done to the cab mounts. Huge thank you to a great friend Taco TRD for all the welding. I can't weld. I wanted to split this up into two videos to keep them short. Part two video will go over the plastic trimming and molding once the wheels and tires are on. Overall not bad just have at least 3 fresh cutting discs per side and a fresh flapper disc, mine was a 40 grit. This was my first time ever using hearing protection and I am hooked. Its makes the grinding more tollerable. The cuts went smoothly and the welds look amazing. Thanks for watching. All links below.

Clean garage man!
Thank you. 👍
Nice wheels man. I did the similar CMC at a truck shop and put 285/70/17s mine on SCS wheels. Had to do some trimming of the fender lining as well. I want to go up in size for my next set, and want to ask if you know if there's a 315s available in 70/17s or 75/17s?
There is a large selection of 315 70 17 same as 35 12.5 by 17. They are available in a 35.
What tire ans wheel specs did you have during this video?
During this video the Tires were 265 75 R 16 Goodyear Wrangler MTR with Kevlar on Level 8 MK6 in Gunmetal 16 by 8 with -12 Offset. Thanks for watching.
really nice job.... got one question though, because I'm not sure if you said it before or not.... What lift do you have on the truck... I see a ton of vids showing that you have to do this for 33's or 35's but digging into their build and they always have between a leveling spacer to 3" lift.... which I understand what you have to cut up the fender area and cab mount then, so I'm left asking myself, why didnt they just go with a bigger lift? I will say the work you did is pretty damn good and very well planned out . great channel
Thank you for watching and for the feedback. I have a Full kings resi set up front and rear with clickers. The front UCAs are Camburg balljoints, LCAs are Dirt King ball joints. Rear springs are OME heavy duty the a U Bolt flip kit. I am a little under 4 inches of lift. The Tacoma is an IFS front so for anything more than the 3 to 4 inches of lift it requires you to chop the front support for the front clamshell to lower it as the axels will be a a terrible angle. Also, the higher the lift the more the front tires want to push back into the wheel well. Thats an entire discussion on its own as there are many ways to combat that. Thats a rough outline of the process for lifting higher than 4 inches for the Tacoma. Theres a ton more the can be discussed. Hopefully that helps. You can also look on the forums, there is so much info.
Again thanks for watching.
@@ClassyTacos thank brudda, yeah I have a '16 with a 4inch right now but I plan on going to 6" and 35's soon
