Now that was a very pro-looking cab mount chop-erring. I likes that you showed us the rubbing sound, it keeps it real. Also I wanted that sound so I went out and attached some playing cards to the coil overs so they just catch the back of the rim...sounds really neat. 🤣🤣
Dude you help so much! Putting everything in the description. Helps me out a lot. I need step by step stuff just to double check myself. I really appreciate your videos!
Lol. Welcome to the neverending trimming of plastic and front bumper. I've been chasing rubbing for a few months now since my CMC. I think I have it all cut now though. Fingers crossed. I have 285/70/17 tires on the 4runner pro wheels and 1.25" spydertrax spacers and I wouldn't want any other look, despite the rubbing.
Love the channel. I'm running 33x12.5x18's, never had an issue on my 15 quadcab trd off-road. I always thought there might be an issue with clearance but never had it happen. I'm running mud graps on top of that. Just curious if I really need to worry about it, you seem to be completely aware of tacos. Thanks.
Thanks man! The cab mount chop plates have to be welded on. I suppose you could leave them off after cutting, but tons of gunk would get stuck up in there. I don't run a spare tire underneath, but throw a 33" (255/85R16) in the bed when I go offroad.
What size tires do you have? I’m actually doing a CMC in my 15 Tacoma this weekend. I will try to paint the inside portion of the plate first and do a more aggressive chop. You’re video came in time! I want to purchase 285/75/17 tires which are closer to 34” tires. I already purchased SCS ray 10 wheels as well.
My tires are 285/75R16 but my wheels now have 3.5" of backspacing which is why I needed the more aggressive cab mount chop. If you paint the CMC plates BEFORE welding them on then the paint will probably just get burned off from the heat.
I'm afraid there's not much you can do about having no paint inside. Any paint you put on is going to get nuked from orbit when you start welding. It could even make the welds themselves not-so-good.. Contamination and all
Thanks man! You should be able to get it done for 80-100 but ask around with your local Tacomaworld guys and I bet some of them have the welding skills to make it happen for less if you supply the beer. 😀
What width and offset are your wheels? I know you mention backspacing, but I have 17x8 0 offset with 285/75-17 tires (33”) and I haven’t rubbed at all.
Tacomaholic I kinda got lucky with that. Especially after the 5100 install, the only noticeable rub was on the passenger side at near-full lock to the right under spring compression on the seam weld. And I will be doing some hammer time on those shortly. Thanks again for the content and likes and comments on IG, too!
@8:46 "I think it is where one of the body mounts goes". You think? You are doing a body mount chop in that general area, bro! It's all good, I'm just grilling on ya.
Lol - it's pretty straight forward if you have some tools and welding skills.. HA! Let's just hope I never have to do this! BTW I love my 1 inch seat lifters!
Better to have a wheel with the proper offset/backspacing but that's more expensive of course. Plenty of guys run wheel spacers without having any issues. Just make sure you use a reputable brand and I wouldn't go larger than 1.25".
Yep just like Randy said. You definitely need a 3ton floor jack like this one ( amzn.to/2xbtXnd ) when working on your tacoma. It gets sketchy when using a 2 ton or smaller.
To each his own, but if that were my truck I rather just save up some money a do a suspension lift especially if your 4x4ing on trails or hills like I saw in one of your videos you were climbing an embankment and your rear bumper was hitting the ground.
I wouldn't say that the offset/backspacing is "incorrect" but the 3.5" of backspacing on my new wheels (versus 4.5" on my old wheels) is what's causing the rub issue this time.
I can not figure out why in the first place toyota enginers/designers put out these tacomas from 2005 to 2015 with a horrible fender design a goofy looking pratically near vertical cut up & down behind the front wheel & in back of the back wheel well, I held off all these years from buying a tacoma because this goofy design they came out with, I bought 2017 trd offroad much better design.
One of the major problems with toyota they must have body designers that are high on meth & crack to design a horrible wheel wells on second gen toyotas that behind the front & back wells behind each wheel practically has a almost near a vertical line on the fenders which is absolutely ridiculas & brain dead of what the designers came up with from 2005 through 2015, that is why I held off buying new tacoma till they got off the meth & crack to give back normality on the fender wells & third gens are yet not perfect they could had yet broadened out the wheel wells more so but it is what it is..

Lol now I'm having flashbacks of riding my bike as a kid.

Thanks so much for watching!
Arnold + Flashdance........my man.
Nice chop.
That welding smell is the best ;)
Felt like the 4th of July up in there!
Love your sense of humour. Intro was great.
Thanks David!
Love it! The editing was spot on.

Ahh the things we put ourselves through for larger tires and a wicked stance. 😀
I sound just like Arnold when you do it lmfao!!,
Great video friend!!
Ha ha thanks Jesse!
Tacomaholic lol u got it I always enjoy your videos man
Coming from a fellow taco owner you know ;) hahah

Thanks for watching buddy! Yours don't rub at all at full lock? Going in reverse at full lock is the ultimate road test to see if they are rubbing.
Lmao 🤣, love your editing,,pro tip of the day: Rust never sleeps!..
You and your family be safe.
Thanks man!
nice rims man, love the color to them
Thanks buddy! I love them ... and super lightweight.
I can't take it anymore! If you need to use a local garage, let me know. TW=crashdb
Nice video! What happen if you have no way to weld the cap? By the way, what size of tire do you carry as spare under the truck?
Thanks man! The cab mount chop plates have to be welded on. I suppose you could leave them off after cutting, but tons of gunk would get stuck up in there. I don't run a spare tire underneath, but throw a 33" (255/85R16) in the bed when I go offroad.
I have 4.5 BS... i was wondering what was better 3.5 or 4.5 BS. Did your 4.5 rub on your UCA?
Neither my 4.5 or 3.5 rubbed on my UCAs.

How much do you think it would cost to get a CMC done at a shop? And stay safe with the storms coming 👍🏼
Post on your local Facebook trail riding group and you should get a quote soon after.
Wheels are 16x8 with -25mm offset and 3.5" backspacing. You are lucky yours don't rub. 😀
Tacomaholic I kinda got lucky with that. Especially after the 5100 install, the only noticeable rub was on the passenger side at near-full lock to the right under spring compression on the seam weld. It's all good, I'm just grilling on ya.
Sometimes a grilling is good.
You should chop it again and just do the body mount relocation mod. You know you want to put 35s on it 😏
Body mount relocation mod!? Now I need to do some research on this. 😀

Nice, thanks!
how much of a lift did you have on your truck at this time?
3" in front 4" in back
How tall of a lift you got? And how wide tire are you running? 70. Or 75?
Hey buddy! 3" in front and 4" in back and my tires are 285 wide with 75 aspect ration (285/75R16).
Lol - it's pretty straight forward if you have some tools and welding skills.. HA! Let's just hope I never have to do this! BTW I love my 1 inch seat lifters!
Glad you are enjoying the seat spacers! I love mine.
What is your opinion on wheel spacers?
Better to have a wheel with the proper offset/backspacing but that's more expensive of course. Plenty of guys run wheel spacers without having any issues. Just make sure you use a reputable brand and I wouldn't go larger than 1.25".
Been thinking of getting window visors for my Calvary blue TRD Pro Tacoma is it to rice tho
First time I've heard window visors referred to as ricey.
what floor jack is that?
Harbor Freight 3 ton low profile. I'm the one doing the cutting in the video, and I've used that floor jack for years now. It's fantastic.
Yep just like Randy said. You definitely need a 3ton floor jack like this one ( amzn.to/2xbtXnd ) when working on your tacoma. It gets sketchy when using a 2 ton or smaller.
I’m feeling your pain! Ugh
To each his own, but if that were my truck I rather just save up some money a do a suspension lift especially if your 4x4ing on trails or hills like I saw in one of your videos you were climbing an embankment and your rear bumper was hitting the ground.
A cab mount chop is usually need to fit 33" tires even if you have a suspension lift.
Not correct offset?
I wouldn't say that the offset/backspacing is "incorrect" but the 3.5" of backspacing on my new wheels (versus 4.5" on my old wheels) is what's causing the rub issue this time.
Thickly. Is that similar to girthy? lol

Did you test fit before welding?
Yeah my buddy used the cmc plates to mark where he needed to cut and then ground down the cut edges until it was a perfect fit for the plates.
say bye ...
Auf Wiedersehen.

off roadies, just buy a wrangler!
