To those who asks, "Why go to a concert and hold your phone up the whole time?" It's for the people like me, who live 3,000 miles away and would never get to watch this performance without the person filming it. I've watched this video every day for 10 days now. Thanks to the uploader.
so true! When he was playing live with the Stones on a few songs a few years ago, he was shredding marvellous guitar solos and then respectfully bowed in front of Keith Richards. Love his humility.
That’s a real band; everyone playing in their zone and pockets without stepping over each other. As Ryan plays softer so does he band; beautiful thing when it gets like this
I think he is feeling lucky to be there, listening to that awesome shit and also being on stage to add to it a little bit. I feel he would die not having a guitar in his hand listening to this as an audience member :). I think John Mayer is just a cool guy that knows everyone and they want him there but he's like a bit shy until someone tells him to let it rip - unless it's his own show. The man is a legend already but - and I made another comment like this just now but - like Clapton said, he doesn't really know it yet, or acknowledges it. We haven't seen the best of John Mayer yet in 2020 I think and that's saying a fucking lot coming from Room for Squares.
This drummer is the unsung hero. His dynamics are spot on and he follows everything like a hawk. Gotta love it when you literally don’t have a weak link on the stage! Beautiful musical moments
As a drummer I can say that this is one of the tightest, thumpiest, and most self controlled drummer I’ve ever seen. As a drummer I know how excruciatingly hard it is to not just EAT in a groove like that. And as a guitarist I know how valuable a drummer like that is! Absolute hats off to every last one of them up there! Brav-fucking-o
Average Joe you know that, my man. I always had a hard time finding someone proud of their groove, letting time breath, holdin it down. Lots of guys feel it beneath them to just groove. #1 gripe was f....ing stage volume. Singing was a chore cuz they all wanna be the loudest. Lol

How about Sharkey just blew Mayer’s solo out of the water. Johns a great player and writer and has great phrases he comes up with but on this day, at this show, Isaiah owned John re: solos.
Abcdefg Hijklmnop Yup, I think John even says that Sharkey is a better player than him. To be fair though, I don’t think John is going 100%. Seems to hold back a little when it’s not his act.
Abcdefg Hijklmnop at that level of guitar mastery, there is no better or worse. They are just different. They have different styles, different taste, different techniques. They both excel at different aspects of guitar playing, and that is great, that is what makes music so special, its diversity. They are both amazing players.

The drummer during Isaiah’s solo just makes me so happy, so sick how he doesn’t go on like a train but really feels and follows the guitar, what a beast (they were all btw)
I love that it seems like there are no egos when these guys play together...just phenomenal musicians jamming together and making sweet, sweet cochlear-gasms.
This performance should be shown to blues and jazz musicians and every musician in general. It has every kind of solo you can imagine (Sharkey encompasses all of them lol) and it really shows how a band can perform and react together.
OH MY GOD! They have been together for sooooo long...So their music could not get better than AMAZING! But such a small reshuffle in the group and their output is refreshingly different!
I love it how John is looking at Isaiah after hearing is lick at 6:37. That's what's all about jamming together. Thanks for the upload, this is fucking awesome!
Damn, that straight up made me cry it was so good. The whole thing is so conversational in such a truly compelling way. The drummer, the sax player, singers, everybody... I haven't had so much respect for John's ability to tie together the timbre of some of the other instruments, almost like a call back. Nevermind Sharkey, man. That guy is on another LEVEL.
Not an ounce of regret from watching this start to finish for like the 3rd-4th time. I love that this is primarily an experience and that David includes the audience in that experience. The music and instrumentation was just the vehicle for that.

Love the way john was happy to take a back seat and wear it flawlessly. He didn't even completely build his solo as much as the other cats. The way he stepped on his tuner at the end was hilarious too. " AAAaand done! thankyou, goodnight!"
Mayer's reactions to Sharkey's licks are awesome. Love how much he enjoys Isaiah's playing, and who can blame him. I can't say that everything he plays is my kinda thing, but I *can* say that everything he plays is expertly executed and just out of this world. But then again, there's not a single person on this stage that isn't simply incredible. What an incredible group of musicians. With everything going on up there they *still* don't invade any of the others' sonic space. Just incredible musicianship all around. Blows my mind.
This is some of the best music I’ve heard in a while. The stage is filled with incredible musicians. The saxophonist. Mayer and David Ryan, the keyboardist!, Sharkie and the drummer!! I’ve listened to this about 6 times and I have a feeling I’ll continue to listen in to it for the foreseeable future

John stopped playing and just watched Derek Trucks tear it up.
Then B.B. King says that's as good as I've heard.
2 of today's best.
I like how John is just casually in the back like a broke college freelancer that no one cares about but is secretly amazing.
