His guitar skills are often overlooked because he releases pop songs. Only the real ones know he really is one of the greatest guitarists of our generation.

True although David Ryan Harris is a wicked force on his own, he just hasn't had the mainstream commercial success Mayer has. Actually they've known each other since before Mayer made it big. He was a fan of Harris and went to a show to introduce himself and see if he was interested in collaborating and they've been hooking up ever since! If you haven't seen it Yesterday Shutting Down by Harris live with Mayer is one of the best 11 minutes you could watch! They put on a clinic!!
This is what John needs, a fucking album composed entirely jamming. I mean, jam with everyone he knows and then take the best parts out of it and write songs out of it, then make an album
Confession. I've watched this five times in a row, dancing alone in my living room. Thank you for helping make my solo quarantine enjoyable tonight. I MISS HUMAN CONNECTIONS WITH MUSIC. Small, smokey dive bars and true artists just riffing from their souls. Reminds me of New Orleans, and the four times I've seen Mayer live. He just keeps getting better and better.
Holy fuck that was great! Mayer was matching those notes. And towards the end of their duo improv when Haris was hitting the lower sounding notes and Mayer copied the same exact sound was funny as hell hahaha 6:40
when you practice thousands of hours, guitar becomes an extension of your voice. john does this on his own time plenty, that's why he's such as master at it. - ruclips.net/video/02ZMlcFJwZY/видео.html
I'm a casual musician, and having played in a few bands and doing jams like this where we all make some sound has always yielded some memorable moments and really nice tunes. This is one of those moments, the only difference being the band, which is made up of a group of insanely talented professional musicians.
It’s crazy, Zane Carney is a phenomenal guitar player and plays some nice little licks in here. But when Mayer rips a solo it completely takes over the entire scene. All of the focus is on his dominant solos, he constantly stands out every performance
How can someone play different licks one after another? 😰 Mayer’s talent is beyond me, to be honest 🙏🏻. His phrasing, timing, and feel are as smooth as butter… Every time I see him play, my own playing feels like it’s in dire straits… 😷
This is unfreaking believable. As incredible as it was to hear DRH sing Ain't No Sunshine with John, that ridiculous "Jingle Bells" jam at the end had me dying of groove and laughter!
Mayer always threads in old school. I LOVE IT! Thank you for pointing this out! Last time I saw him he made me cry with Homeward Bound intro (Simon and Garfunkel).
This is just amazing!! I love see them playing the guitar and sing. I can watching them all night long and forget about going to sleep.. They are just so amazing to me
Great to see Sean Hurley playing bass with him again! Loved him when he was with Vertical Horizon, who I saw a bunch of times back in the day. Talked to him a couple times, super great guy! Cant wait to see them in KC in April!!
Diggin the groove on this one, and the variations/contrast to other interpretations of this piece by JM in the past........awesome chemistry with the participants and I really wouldn't have minded seeing Pino out in the crowd, with his feet up, sippin on his most preferred beverage. Well, and you can't be that good without a TON of work and endless practice. Remember there is natural talent and then you have to work HARD. He toolsheds all the time to work on his craft.
I always come back to this brilliant recording! A thousand thanks, Peter Malek for filming and uploading. This session was/is unbeatably great! For me as a fan of JM, DRH and ZC there is nothing better on YT🙏

@@nomonkeymind yeah the feel this man has is out of this world!
whom are u talking about?
@@sauravprakash7542 John Mayer of course
I totally agree, Mayer is one of the all time greatest. Too bad we don't hear much of that stuff on the records. Bits and pieces only.
I did Land Rover commercial with John Mayer 2020 and he is a great Human Being. Just hanging out with the dude fly fishing was true zen in life.
That commercial is awesome. All those little extra posted clips are great too!
grupieeeeeeee. just a dude who spends a lot of time with his guitar man. he's ok. no god. Yes, minor caps used on purpose. Relax.

John surrounds himself with great musicians who helps him perfect his weaknesses, each year we see a better musician out of John. Love it!
His only real weakness must be his pitch sometimes, however its getting better and better

@@brianbytheocean no he does not

It's slammin.
This is truly magical. I would give anything to be able to see John Mayer play in real life.
would you give a few hundred bucks?
We are deprived back here of all this fabulous music😊

That drummer was having the time of his life, realizing how fucking lit it is to be playing with JM's band, somewhere around 9:14.
That's Rob Humphries. Such a badass drummer.
Not denying that part. Still, look how happy he was. But I guess anyone would be, with that kind of jam.
the drummer has an incredible groove beyond all band
nice to see how he enjoys that awesome groove. Who the f**k would not? :D
I think he uses to play with Scary Pockets really awesome grooves too!
David Ryan Harris should be a superstar!

Christian Barone 🤘🏾
Mayer has star power
Can barely even hear zane
Possibly the best version of jingle bells I've ever heard.
The amount of times I've laughed out loud at johns brilliance. This is music! 🎶
just when I think he's reached his ceiling he continues to grow.
I love Sean Hurley the bassist whispering the lyrics of aint no sunshine to David haha that shit cracks me up

What a phenomenon this performance is to have John Mayer, Clapton, B.B. King, Andy Summers, SRV & MJ all in that Gibson ES-330.
Underrated comment homie
All these dudes are possessed with raw crazy sick talent. Need that album fellas.
John and Zane make a great duo! The band is off the charts, as well.
That call and response... so hot

For the culture! #Mayer, Harris!
At the 9 minute mark they have officially exited earth’s gravity into the groovesphere

Holy crap. John Mayer slippin' "Wrapped Around Your Finger" just before the 6:00 mark was nice!
Total cool . Cool incarnate in word and vibe
I've heard my favorite solos at hotel Cafe
Damn, I think this is the clearest, closest video of John playing I've ever seen. Thank you for the upload!
So cool to see how much John has changed. He just looks like he's having fun up there, not trying to prove anything.
He has nothing to prove, that's why
This has given me so much needed life
Im impressed that you could hold in all that screaming and cheering you wanted to do for the sake of the video 😂
You have no idea. Look up the Yesterday Shutting Down video on my page. It's even better.
Whatever you may think of this guy, he his a hell of a musician, killer band doesn't hurt either :)

Second solo gives off some very Clapton-esque vibes... Love it
Damn this just inspired me to steal guitar licks directly from singers hehe
