This one is better than where the light is. Where the light is is a perfect one because its a dvd but this one has the uniqueness and feel. I mean 4:58 cmon boii
So much practice, so much time to absorb his own song, I love how fast and effortless he plays this. John fucking Mayer, what an inspiration to anyone who've ever picked up a guitar!
I have a few more. I tried to just experience most of it in real time. I'll see if I can get the entire night from a friend who recorded it all. Thanks for the comments, you guys rock!
This version is even better than WTLI. The vocals may not be as showy but its more honest and the solo is better, Amazing, is it possible he's even getting better as a player? Christ.
I know a nobody who can play this and more . . . Corey Heuvel - not only can he play it - he can sing it too. He's got some Mayer DNA inside him. Let me rephrase that ! Maybe long lost brothers or something...
One of his best versions of neon. I've heard it hundreds of times in different venues but this was something special. I keep checking for a complete version of the new stuff but I can't find it yet. Thank you for the upload, as you can tell its very much appreciated by all.
Here's The Set List. Working on getting the new songs. Who Says Queen of California Slow Dancing in a Burning Room Dear Marie Done Changing (New song) Roll it On Home (New Song) Still Feel Like Your Man (New Song) Free Fallin' (Tom Petty cover) Heartbreak Warfare (Stopped at points where John forgot the lyrics.) Whiskey Neon
Really feel like his voice's coming back, he's nailing some of those intricate high note riffs, that he was struggling with while live on tour. Can't wait for the new album!
Adhy Nugroho well imagine practicing something for thousands and thousands of hours. If I put as much effort into something as John puts into the guitar I’d sure hope I’m the best at whatever that is.
He has been playing and releasing for music for at least 22 years at this point. You dont play and release music that long, especially the kind of music he puts out, for 22 years without getting good.
Short answer is internal timing. You can get that by getting used to playing and singing as more "muscle memory" than they are about you consciously thinking about what to do next.
All these answers about the hours of practice. Yeah sure without that he wouldn't be where he is. But initial talent isn't distributed equally, my friends. Most of us could practice 6h a day for decades and the only thing we'll get is tendonitis. Mother nature isn't fair.
Lucky you. I have all those videos of his surprise 2011 Hotel Cafe show, but I wish there could have been 2 of me. One to enjoy the show in real time, and one to capture it for John's fans.
***** Thanks so much. Glad people are still enjoying them. I'll never forget how gracious and sweet John was after that show. I was bummed I missed him this time, but good of Brian to film and post.
***** I have watched your videos a lot of times too! =D I've even learned how to play "don't think twice it's alright" by watching your video of his cover. hehe Thanks!
***** props to you man! With your videos i learnt most of Born and Raised before it even came out, haha. I also listened to the 30 second snippets on iTunes, but your videos helped me heaps
I would be so incredibly grateful and happy if you can get the whole set up! You are awesome for sharing what you have so far! We all know his fans are anxious for his new music!!
Man thanks for recording this btw! I did get to hear "Still feel like your man" but only 15 secs of it because someone posted it on instagram. Dam I was so pleased and overhelmed it sounded so cool & groovey!
That would be amazing. Of course love to hear the new ones and would love to hear what he had to say about Heartbreak Warfare. Your videos are being shared in a group called John Mayer Knows Best on FB. If your a big Mayer fan check it out. I'm an administrator there and it's a cool fan page. Thanks a million for the footage!
reading the set list I noticed he already had: done changing (I assume it got changed to changing), still feel like your man and roll it on home almost 2 years ago before releasing them, that's how you can tell how much goes on John's mind, how seriously he takes his music and how much work goes into every song we (probably) hear on the new album.
Maybe with the new album closer than ever, we'll get to see performances of those new songs from this show pop up around RUclips? One can only wish. Thank you for the upload!
The first 2.25 minutes before the song starts are so damn satisfying to watch. Too bad i picked up the guitar at age of 19 because imagine playing like this man at this moment in time
This is probably one of his best vocal performances. Also 1:42 reminds me of when phoebe gets sick and start singing the words “my sticky sticky shoe” over and over again because everyone likes the sound of her voice when she’s sick lmao
crazy how often when I watch this (which is pretty often, by the way) I just cant help but to laugh. Hearing his phrasing is just almost funny to think someone could possibly come up with something like that on the spot.
Sometimes the only reaction, when you see someone playing like that, is to just laugh. Its ridiculous how effortless he makes it look.
stoop04 YES
I laugh consistently when he plays. It is RIDICULOUS! His literal fingers have more talent than many musicians have in their entire body.

He just did this intro bit in order to tune the low E string down to a C.....What a boss
It was initially in Bb which is even more crazy, he had to tune UP to the C.

best version of Neon I've ever heard and I've heard dozens of them. He made one man and a guitar sound like a jazz-trio #insane
True A yes this is the best neon. I can support you on that.

EllaKvistgaard all
He’s actually got freakishly long thumbs lol
I can see you got good music taste just by your picture
Thank you to the person who said shhh at around 1:10 atleast someone appreciates the legend playing only and not the audience making unrelevent noise
fun fact: John Mayer is also making unrelevent noise lmao
this is insane. as an avid guitar player, i cannot comprehend how somebody is capable of playing like this hahaha incredible.
All the while, singing that well on top of it
As your a player go look up a guy named Corel Heuvel, he can rock this song right beside John, I'm not shitting you.
So much practice, so much time to absorb his own song, I love how fast and effortless he plays this. John fucking Mayer, what an inspiration to anyone who've ever picked up a guitar!
John's so talented he does better covers of his own original best tunes
I have a few more. I tried to just experience most of it in real time. I'll see if I can get the entire night from a friend who recorded it all. Thanks for the comments, you guys rock!
Any chance you can upload any performances from your friend's footage? I would really appreciate it!
Yeah I would enjoy that too
um thank you. holy shit one of the best neons ive ever seen (sub WTLI) and i've seen all of them.
please release the "roll it on home" and "still feel like your man". the songs is out now, i'm dying to see the acoustic performance
Did he play "stop this train"????
Geeeeeeezzzz. UNREAL groove. so much feel.
John Mayer is actually the coolest person on earth
did that intro while tuning. didn't even realise it after watching a few times. this man never stopped being awesome
This version is even better than WTLI. The vocals may not be as showy but its more honest and the solo is better, Amazing, is it possible he's even getting better as a player? Christ.
Idk man the intro is straight up FIRE, and the vocals are really bluesy, but the actual song is wayyy to fast.
Vocals are downright terrible.
@@gargeebhattacharjee8681 idk I think his falsettos sounds a little bit weak and inconsistent at some point
Vocals are going bad after his throat surgery but he makes it up by making the guitar part better and better
What an absolute force of pop-vocal/guitar improvisation. So intelligent, so inspiring.

Wow. His jazzy guitar playing and scatting are just out of this world.
Just found this. My goodness. Best Neon I've seen. Nothing but awe for his abilities on that guitar. Can't get enough of John Mayer. What a talent.

That fucking intro. Hopefully more of that bluesy soul music with some badass guitar makes its way to the next album
Did anyone else notice how he modulated the key twice? It was effortless, that was really amazing
I swear this guy needs to make album with d'Angelo so jazzy!!
OMG YESSSS!!!

Loved it during interlude when that girl yelled “chill out” in the best possible way. JM is on Fire. This, and Live in LA
I watch this weekly. I cannot fathom how you can come up with that. It's hard enough to actually play and sing like that let alone write it.
thats got to be my favorite rendition so far. he does it different every time. cool rendition

Man, it would be alright to play like this. How hard can it be right? Just a little practice should do it.
dude, put your mind to it and you can play this in a little over a year, even quicker maybe depending on how much you focus.
Wow..the audios perfect on here
