ya’know what i love about the blues? is how it transcends the individual musician. it’s something greater than just the individual person standing there with their instrument. yeah that’s true for all genres, but the blues even transcends genre. the blues is a FEELING. we just happened to be able to translate it into music. it’s a universal depressive / melancholy emotion that we ALL experience. i promise you at some point in your life you’ve felt the blues. when that girl you really liked went for someone else and it stung in that really humiliatingly painful way? when your friend scored and got with that girl that you were secretly hoping to get with and you had to pretend to be happy for them? but deep down inside you were feeling? the BLUES baby. once that hot red anger has passed, that slow, plodding along sad feeling is THE BLUES. that’s why the beat for so many blues songs does exactly that - slowly sadly plod away! cause that’s exactly what the blues feels like! we all got it inside us, but the beauty of blues music is that we can learn to express it in a non-destructive, healthy, cathartic way that also happens to be hella entertaining! don’t force yourselves to stop feeling the blues brothers and sisters, for to do so would be to numb your very SOUL!!! just find a way to get it out in the form of music!!! could be in the form of guitar, singing, saxophone, etc. buddha said that life is suffering; therefore the blues is ATTACHED to us as part of our human condition; we got noooo choice but to live with it. and what better way to do that than to play the BLUEST of blues ???? 💙💙💙
