This is the absolute best tutorial I could have been looking for. Your explanations are simple and thorough. I usually hate watching videos that go any longer than 7 minutes but I watched this one from beginning to end. Much appreciated! Definitely checking out the rest of your channel.
Happy to help.
I've been looking and tonnes and tonnes of video tutorials to try and compile a list to teach my coworkers with. This is one of the ONLY videos that talks about navigating the 80D with such depth and clarity! Thank you so much!
Happy to help
Oh my gosh!! This by far, the number one, the best, the apex, the meridian, the beau coup numba one, best video on the Canon 80D out there. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Just getting into photography and this was the camera I decided to start with. I was pretty intimidated however this series of videos made me feel MUCH better about the simple basic things to know. Thank You for these videos.
happy to help
Thanks for these videos man. When I get this, I'll be able to understand most of the DSLRs that have similar features to this.

Just got mine today. Man this thing is SOLID. The flipout LCD is really solid too. Nice feel and not too small for big hands.
dude...thanx a lot for the very detailed explanation. still trying to balance aperture and shooting speed, i keep forgetting the chart to balance it. I don't even want to try auto mode and get comfortable. hope i'm ready for my newborn in 2 weeks and take some awesome shots. thanks again.
Thank you I just purchased this camera this video was very helpful for me. Thank you again
Very comprehensive set of videos. Thank you.
This is an awesome tutorial. I'm a complete noob who has only ever had a point and shoot camera so all the buttons and dials on the 80D were a bit overwhelming for me, but I feel much happier about experimenting now that i've had the functions explained in such simple terms. Thanks so much! :)
Happy to help.
Just wanted to point out that you were incorrect about P mode, in saying that it's shutter preferred or aperture preferred. The aperture and shutter speed are automatically set by metering. What P mode allows you to do is change all the other settings, such as ISO, WB, and over/underexposing. What the wheel controls in this mode is not the aperture. It controls the exposure value, and the camera will meter off of that. So no, P mode does not give you more freedom than Av or Tv, but less.
exposure value compensation*
On my canon 40d going to P mode means I can change the aperture or shutter speed by rotating the dial, thus over-riding the camera's current choice for what it deems a good picture.
Then once the photo is taken it returns to its recommended settings waiting for you to adjust it again if required.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Excellent, can't wait to start part 2!
Nice video brother. I am someone who switched from Nikon to Canon and your video was something that has enabled me to get comfortable with my 80D. Great work.
great!!!
Great Video! Really helpful for a new Canon 80D user!
Happy to help
Holy smokes this tutorial was freaking fire bro!!!!!
You already know my guy 🙏🏻
Agree!
On the control for mulitple exposures, H was High, but the S is silent NOT small image to my knowledge
So glad to find this series of videos.
Happy to help
Thank you....you did a great job of summarizing alot of information. You speed was great....sometimes, when watching tutorials it is so hard to keep up...even when you keep replaying the same information. So thanks again...and here it to going completely manual in 2017.
Great to hear good luck.
This is the absolute best!
AI Focus tracks a moving subject across the frame and continuously focuses on it. AI Servo is One Shot and AI Focus combined into one setting.
Wrong. You're mixing up Servo and Focus. AI Focus is OS and Servo combined.
This is a great video that makes it easy to understand. Sound quality is good and sharp images
Thanks. I created a bookmark for this video tutoriall series.
24:10 There is actually a built in level in this camera. Just hit 'info' twice.
Having the level on screen is one of my favorite things to switch to while I'm running and gunning!
Amazing video!
Thanks so much...look forward to the other series soon.
thanks
Thank you so much. It answers my question about what’s the “plus and minus” for

I love you Ken!
The Best. Thanks so much.
I tend to prefer spot and evaluative metering but need to play with each, checking the histogram.
Excellently packaged. A very huge thank you.

Unfortunatly, you miss to explain the exposition 's lock with the star button when shooting. *
Thanks a lot for your tutorials ' serie.
This was a great video now I need to find out what everything means that you’re talking about, L O L
This is an awesome video I just brought this camera so I'm watching all of the parts so I can master it!
Great and thanks
@@MediaUnlocked you're welcome keep making great content!!
Good video except at about 23:00+ when explaining the P setting. He adjusts the shutter speed and aperture settings using the back "quick control dial" which is changing the exposure compensation. He should be half-pressing the shutter button and then using the main dial to do this.
Just got my 80d I love it! This was very helpful thanks!
happy to help
For the back button focus. You could do the same with just the shutter button no? I played around after watching, and i found out that i do it with my shutter button. I do a lot of weddings and have a 5D mark III so been seeing what people say for the back button focus wanted to see if this would speed up my focus. Anyways, I half press for focus then full press for the shot then release slightly to take how ever many more shots again, without having to refocus because its now locked. To me it just feels more natural and more responsive in terms of speed for me. But everyone has a way of doing it i guess! Great video!
I agree, but the problem sometime is that the shutter can re-meter the scene when you reposition, so you can turn off the focus from shutter button to avoid that, and meter when you've repositioned using the back focus button.
I use dpp4 that came with the camera and it works better on my old computer, than LR or PS
I really appreciate the info that you shared.

What is it about that "definitely shoot in manual mode"? That makes only sense to me if you use an external lightmeter. Otherwise I´m much faster and more precise using P, Av or Tv mode in combination with dial selector 1. Depending on the situation I change to whatever I need.
Hi l have a canon 80d camera does the battery grip from a canon 60d fit it.
Nice video!!
Wowzers most helpful!!
happy to help
Yeah, sure, you make a tips for a newbies and advise them to go manual mode. And they go shoot the street phtography and get frustrated with the under/over-exposed and blurred photos...
Lets say the manual mode fits more for still photography or the cases when the light situation is pretty much consistant
Thank you!
Thanks
Awesome video.
Thanks
Enjoy this video a lot.
Thanks

Thank you

How to trun on ir af- assist beam light for low light auto focusing in canon 80D ?! Video pls
I didn't know about that dial by the view finder on my T4i for a long time and I kept wondering why it wasn't completely in focus.. Felt like an idiot when I found it.
you can use AI FOCUS all the time.. bcuz AI FOCUS is the function that contains both "ONE SHOT and AI SERVO"s properties.. ;)
ySfkTkC Except that in movie mode One Shot is no longer an option. This was a big disappointment about the 80D.
26:08 "You got one shot" [Eminem]
lol
By rotating the lens we can zoom. Is it ok to do so when the camera in A+ or SCN modes? Or is it the way of zooming?
Thanks for these informative videos! Can you tell me what is the best as cards to use for video on this camera?

Fantastic tuturials, just subscribed,so I would like to ask a question if I could.Just bought the 80D(upgrade from the T5I)I have been shooting hummingbirds from a tri pod(in Manual mode)and getting pretty good results(I wait until the bird comes into that particular spot)Now I want to shoot freehand, can I use the AF-on button in Manual mode?? I dont want to use Automatic mode because that seems to be the easy way out! Am I right? Thanks again for the great videos.
AF is very usable just make sure your shutter speed is high
Thanks. Great start for my new camera! I'll continue to follow you.

Why use two fingers to do one thing. Makes no sense too me when my main dial metering/auto focus works fine for me. I will use my rear button and thumb to instantly change one shot/ai servo, different focus patterns or camera settings.
Also with pro bodies you can register your preferred af point selection so you can switch between say a single point to a focus point cluster. Just by holding or tapping a rear button. That is one of the times I will use my thumb and a rear button. But only for changing my camera setup. Like register recall functions shooting and af off.
But I will not use rear buttons for back button focusing alone. It's seems much simpler to focus and shoot with the same front top button and really just makes complete sense to use this method for af tracking and shooting.
Some of my preferred uses for my back buttons.
Are as follows... back * or depth of field buttons for af-off, at point select single to multi point, depth of field preview, register recall or one shot/ai servo one touch
Buying used: How to tell how much video time is already on a 80D?
You need a shutter counter software
16:09
That moment when you have no idea as to what the scene mode does
Lol
😂😂😂😂😂
what does it do??
Seems like many modes are for jpeg only, but I shoot raw only
I don't get the AI servo since it doesn't show the focus points.
isn't AF-ON a useless thing?
1. semi-click on the shutter button to focus
2. pres AF-ON to lock the focus
3. fully press the shutter button to take a photo
4. repeating step 4 would re-focus, right?
how to find shutter count canon 80d camrea .
Hi!, quick question:
are you using the 80D for astro or another camera? Could you tell me how do you setup your camera? Thanks a lot and very good video!
I use the Sony A7R III
