- Therapist reacts to Pneuma by Tool to discuss the fundamental truth that we all have a light within us. Going through a dark time doesn't disqualify us from having light but it may inform the type of light we have and the direction we should shine it.

Now watch Danny’s drum camera video of the song and see the master in action. Hiss poly rhythms are insane.
I recently watched a video of Mike Portnoy working on learning and performing Pneuma . He did amazing with it! " This isn't a song, it's a math equation." Portnoy.
@aperfecttool462 he didn't play it the way it should be. He did good for 5 hours but it was simplified
An absolute must!
Came here to say this!! Such a great video!
33 on the kit is an octopus. Must watch Danny live pneuma.
as USMC grunt, please consider listening to Tool's INVINCIBLE. if you have worked with veterans seeking therapy. Maynard being a army vet hit the lyrics out of the park.
2000% yes 👊
Yes, this ☝️
I suggest INVINCIBLE since quite a while, such an epic song
Ooh Rah Lether Neck. Semper Fi from a 2311 Ammo Tech
I thought it was just about getting older?
I will never get sick of witnessing others enjoy Tool. Living through their experience "vicariously", if you will. lol
Same, I love seeing people discover the beauty that is Tool for the first time
She should do a reaction to “Vicarious” !!!
Me either lol
Im guilty😅
I see what you did there
I am not a human having a spiritual experience.
I am a spirit having a human experience.
Bullcrap 😂
we all
@@Eraser18574 yeah you'll see when the day comes:) i was already so sure it's bullcrap. the movie ends with a beautiful surprise)
except you are a human... having whatever limited experience your puny brain allows you
@@legend_ai_art thats right
So glad you have reacted to this. Figured it would be right in your wheelhouse. I'm sure you'll have a lot of comments suggesting to check out the live drum cam version to see the full majesty of Danny Carey's work.
Haha literal comment below yours on “top” filter is asking for this with as many likes
I think it was the second or third time I saw TOOL. Maynard told the audience near the end of the set, that they were wrapping up this leg of the tour. Then he said something that I've always looked to as a source of inspiration in times of darkness, "we love what we do, but we can't wait to just get home, lay back and jack off into a fan". Whadda guy!
TOOL is Pink Floyd for the new millennium. 🤘🧙♂🤘
Absolutely love what do on this channel and am constantly in awe of how well you do it.
You can't truly appreciate this Fully without seeing Danny Carey do this live! Pneuma live Danny Carey drum cam.
As a non believer in god, TOOL Gives me a deep sense of spirituality.. A lot of their songs are very deep and spiritual.
May everybody be peaceful and loving and share it amongst one and other from within.
Tool brought me to God actually.
One song I think should be looked at, but never gets requested, is Jambi. Easily my favourite song from 10,000 Days. Had it on repeat during my early days of sobriety. "If I could I'd wish it all away/If I thought tomorrow would take you away"
Divided I am withering away

Tool can dissect your innermost and hidden state of mind while engaging your sense of rhythm and making you oddly happy, despite the excruciating inner pain.
Love hearing an educated person review music. With tool I believe you nail it every time!
Pneuma reminds me of my grandfather. Growing up my grandfather whenever he heard people fighting amongst each other he would say. “ Hon dobind ahoi” translates to (we are one people). It took me 35 years to fully understand what he meant. Doesn’t matter the color of your skin, beliefs, background etc. at the end of the day we are one race the human race.
The next tool song you should listen to is “The patient”.
one of my favs for sure
One of the best!
Yeeeessss. She would deep dive the shit out of those lyrics
Yeeeeessss that is perfect for her
She would love that song so much.
Pneuma live is quite the experience. I’ve seen it live 3 times and every single time it blows me away.
Perfect description of the light exploding. At that part live comes an incredible laser light show
I think "Parabol/Parabola" " or definitely "Pushit" would have been more up her alley. Remember she is a reaction therapist, not just a reaction channel. Btw anyone else get happy or smile when you see her bee-bop or dance to music. To cute and funny
Also reflection
Awkwardly sometimes lol but I dig it!!
I want to see her break down H. Reflection and the two you listed.. i also want to see her bee-bop to 7empest
I knew then she was hooked. So much fun she was having.
Pushit is such a powerful song. Both the studio recording and the live one. I think the live one lets us hear a greater range of MJK's voice, so I might recommend that one. And the opening. Wow.
love how you rip a song apart give it some meaning to folks thank you i suffer from ptsd from combat i use music as an escape it helps also social anxiety as well as delayed stress syndrome love what you do keep i up and thank you
Sincerely, Thank you for your Service and Sacrifice 🙏🏼🇺🇸
My Dad-Army-fought in Korea 🙏🏼🇺🇸
you can break a Tool show up into 3 sections.. there's before Pneuma, Pneuma and after Pneuma. It is absolute profound perfection
I love listening to her interpretations...I feel everything she is saying. The overall tone of oneness is what binds me to Tool on top of their incredible skill and beautiful creativity. But the way she connects and feels is absolutely her gift ❤❤❤
Have you done Culling Voices from this same album? I think based on your profession, you could add some great feedback on this one. Let me know what you think!
That’s funny you say that when beat drops that you envision lite bursting out because during the live shows the rest of song the lites are low and when the beat drops golden lites come up and the stage and backdrop burst in like a flame 🔥
OMG!! this is sooo cool!! thanks for sharing - T
I've loved all your Tool reactions. Tool is one of my favorite bands. This whole album is a masterpiece. It really reminds me of a Pink Floyd album. In that, even though there aren't a lot of tracks. Every song is long and tells an epic story. Next you should check out "Invincible" and "Descending" back to back. They both compliment each other, and I think you would enjoy them. For fun you should check out the drum-cam video of Danny Carey playing this song live.
I really love your reaction and interpretation of this song! It's a lot like that to me too. And let me tell you that Tool live (I recently had the pleasure of seeing them live for the first time in Budapest, Hungary) is a full on spiritual journey and a must experience at least once in your life! It was like tapping into the ancient collective consciousness to help remember, heal and improve yourself. Words cannot describe what I felt in that arena with all the energies of the band and thousands of people.
Tool will remain one of my favorite and most impactful bands of all time!
Me too in Auckland around 2016, awesome performance.
He makes the guitar gently weep you should hear the double song 10,000 days/wings for marie....the guitar is crying the emotion for you, Thank you I Love you and your reactions thanks again
I love the way you started out all giddy and positive, then the sounds took you down the spiral.... You wanted off the ride but the sights were so beautiful you didnt dare reach for the safety strap. You enjoyed the ride.....
Thank you for making these videos, you have had me smiling for about an hour now after 4 songs of tool
Seeing someone finding enjoyment in a new fresh way is rejuvenating to my spirit. Keep up the good work darlin
I don’t usually comment on videos, but I had to comment on this one.
Your interpretation of the lyrics as well as the story you shared regarding what you’ve been through and how it has influenced you to be a light to others really stood out to me. I want to say thank you for sharing and I can see that you’ve done the work to be able to live proudly knowing that you triumphed over those pitfalls and tribulations. You’re a very brave person and I really appreciate you.
I'm a long time Tool fan. I love your videos and I love seeing you feel the music. I can see your passion. Tool are musical geniuses.Great job analyzing their words.
You are on fire! You are so brilliant! What you can pick out and understand in one listen is astonishing!
This song really helped me to start to find myself again. I'm letting my voice come out again and I am really coming back to everything inner child all of that. I love and appreciate this song so much
I like to play that full album for people. On vinyl with hardwire head phones. In a comfortable setting. This album makes breakthroughs.
Your positive energy is contagious
Tool is my favorite band. Discovered them in 1998 in college!!! Love them so much Tool and A Perfect Circle tattoos is a must!!!
I have seen tons of videos, even of therapists with the lyrics of Tool, or that they tell us their songs, here in Argentina there are too many psychologists, there is a lack of real therapists, I just want to tell you that I have subscribed because you help a lot, the interpretation of the lyrics and the content of Tool in particular, being sometimes so vulgar, but at the same time so profound, leads you to transcendental questions, and I see you as unique in that, unfortunately I don't know your name, but I thank you again
You are an amazing and incredibly inspirational human being! Thank you so much for what you do.
It makes me happy to see a person rock out so unselfconsciously when they really dig whatever sort of music. That's just refreshing, and even joyful. Fabulous job, and I'm drinking to your health.
Your reactions always brings the feelings, but it was extra emotional tonight, as I just came home from their show in Stockholm. They actually played Pneuma as well. My first ever Tool concert, I dare say it was almost transcendental experience. I needed that.
It is amazing how much meaning Tool can convey with so few words, almost Feynmanesque quality.
The drum cam video is a great show of the great Danny Carey, but I did enjoy what you took away from this! ❤ not many saw that deep with the actual wizardry of Danny video!
Thank you. I'd requested this from ya months ago and so appreciative you did it. Can't wait to watch this.
'We've had 2 minutes of instrumentals so fa".
HAHAHA I forget that not everyone is used to 10+ minute songs. That literally passed in a heartbeat afaic.
Please keep doing these. Your interpretations of the lyrics are super interesting.
"Having a spark within you is as fundamentally true to your being as having breath in your lungs" i love the way you put it. soo true
I like that right when you said, "I like how you can kind of hear his breath" Pneuma kicks in
Omg I Cant believe I will see Tool. I'm so excited!!!
Hell ya🤘
If you haven't yet, check out Maynard's mother's story. It helps to understand a lot of his music
Please give Blue October a listen, they are my favorite band ever and have helped me through so many difficult times in my life. A great one that has a powerful message is “ Fear “ by Blue October. Great reaction as always this video!
You’re amazing. Lateralus next please!
You gotta watch the drum cam for this song. Danny Carrey is one of if not the best drummer alive.
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 that part that part we all have the spark ⚡️
Girl add Parabol/Parabola to the list please! My all time favorite Tool song, dont do them seperate they come together to make the entire song❤
Just dropped!
TOOL brings you on an uplifting spiritual journey to an experience and to an enlightening journey.
H., Reflection, The Patient, Parabol/Parabola, Pushit and probably the rest of their discography
I've watched so many musician reactions to this song (this whole album is Danny's magnum opus), it's refreshing to see it from a different perspective.
Not sure how I feel about that yawn at 13:26 though. LOL
This made me smile. I needed it, thank you!
I’d love to see you do a deep dive into Tool’s “Jimmy”. The childhood trauma, therapeutic recovery and adult thriving are breathtaking.
I've said it before... your reactions are special and pretty dam good!
Others have said it and I'll say it, you need to see them live. The sound system kicks your arse, and based on your interpretation you'll love the visuals for this song.
Shhhhh!!! Everyone shush! Tools playing 🙏
This song is soooo calming to my mind for some reason. Beautiful.
suggestion - Soundgarden Fell on Black Days (which is mostly dark but has some hopefulness too)
Two words. Drum. Cam.
Loving your tool reactions by the way. Always enjoy listening to your interpretations as well
It's wonderful watching Taylor grove to a song that bounces between 5/4 and 6/4 time signatures each measure. Kinda hard to bop to an 11 count, but it works!
All the lyrics in this album is pure poetry, is my favorite of their whole discography🖤
I feel like this is an underrated Tool song. Easily one of my favorites. 100% the best song on Fear Inoculum
Lovee the therapy I have while watching your videos. Greetings from Guatemala
Let’s just take a minute and appreciate D.C. fucking legend
You were so VERY close to saying it when you were talking about “spark” and “child, release the light.”
This is a reference to the songs 10,000 Days and Wings for Marie (tribute to his mother who passed) off of the 10,000 Days album. Where in Maynard sings the lyrics “and this little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine to light your way home.”
Maynard’s mother has an aneurysm and was paralyzed for roughly 10,000 days before she passed. Throughout that time she maintained her faith, which was the source of a lot of anger and frustration out of Maynard. Those feelings can be heard on songs with A Perfect Circle…namely Judith.
As you are a therapist, you might check out jimmy (Maynard talking to and reconciling with his child self) and the above mentioned songs Judith, 10,000 Days, and Wings for Marie.
when listening to Tool, especially Pneuma, I almost feel as if I need to mentally and emotionally prepare myself for it and then again afterwards, to transition back to the reality of this place. This is way beyond goosebumps, this is something far different.
This is such a beautiful song by 4 absolute gods of music.
I've watched Danny's drum video so regularly that I can see it beofore my eyes while listening to the studio audio
Peace, Strength, Love, and Light to all !
I'm no Tool expert, but I think you really hit the nail on the head and got the essence of this song.
I love your Tool reaction videos! You always give a cool perspective, like in this one where you discussed that light has different wavelengths, but it's still light! But, my only complaint is i don't think you have enough rings on your fingers haha;]
Once you have analyzed Tool I was hoping you could look into bands like Soundgarden and Thom Yorke, but keep going with Tool, and thank you for making these videos, they are very enlightening.
Needed this today. Thank you.
Wow. Love this channel, always wanted to discuss this or at least hear an opinion on the songs that I love.
The stank face at the beginning 😅 !!❤ Gets em every time
Our bodies are just vessels. We are the light\spark that is housed within the vessel.
You need to watch the live version of this song 😮
I admire your spirit & energy, and your compassion for others. I think it’s pretty cool what you’re doing here, mixing therapy, positive messaging and music entertainment like this. I think you’re helping a lot of people. Thankyou for shining your light 💡
Wow! She shared a lot of her own personal life experiences in this video! I don't think I have heard her get that personal before. Glad she's digging Tool!
love this song i run my mile listening to this and the ending always gives me that extra to speed up at the end
The Genius of TOOL with Maynards message is beyonds words for my Recovery.
I'm really enjoying your tool breakdowns. Your light is beautiful.
I wish I could hear this song for the first time again. LUCKY
Been looking for you reacting to radiohead but nowhere to be found or am i not looking hard enough? thanks for introducing me to NF and Ren, kinda ashamed i hadn't heard of them before they good
Great take. IMHO, this is how Tool (especially since Ænima) should be introduced. Killer!
love this song......great message... never gets old
If you like the message behind Pneuma, give the song 3rd eye a listen (if you want to do a reacion vid to it awsome as well) but, I think it goes perfectly with this song.
@heartsupport, I occasionally struggle with depression and have tried to deal with it in my own way without seeking help. Music has been a great outlet to release and to enjoy the moment. Further TOOL has been a big part of my life since I discovered them early in life and this most recent album of theirs is absolutely spectacular.
This reaction to my favorite track off the album is exactly what I needed to hear today, because I believe most of my depressive tendencies stem from not knowing my true purpose in life. I understand we all have the light, but where do I shine this light? Where can I be the most impactful in my life and not feel small and worthless?
TOOL is cool and you need to check out the drum cam to this song!
From Riverbats: @pnema20 That drum cam video is the BEST! Thanks for mentioning it, and thanks for writing this comment. Struggling with depression can be debilitating. It’s like you have an extra weight on your shoulders that keeps you from getting as far along with anything as you know you can. You sound like someone who really knows themselves though. You know you love music and you know it’s something that helps when things seem especially dark. I hear you saying you don’t know your true purpose and I know I can identify with that. You are definitely not alone there. I’ve spent years in the past wondering if I was good enough or smart enough for the path I was on, wondering if I was even going in the right direction. I have to say though that from what I am reading, you already know you have a source of positivity “a light” inside of you and while you may not be sure where to shine it, you know that’s what its there for. Many times after questioning things and feeling like I was wandering aimlessly, I would look back and see that even though it had felt directionless at the time, it often made sense in hindsight. You’re trying to figure out where you can be your best self and I personally think that pretty amazing! If you ever want to talk more about what is giving you feelings of depression, please reach out.
From Lys: @pnema20 Hey there!
First off I just want to say thank you for being open with is here, we appreciate it and don’t take it for granted. I believe that sharing how you feel and what you have been through can help other feel less alone, so again, thank you.
I also struggle with depression. For most of my life it has been a constant battle with anxiety and depression. For a long time, I also found ways to cope without seeking others help. Some of those ways were not always healthy, but some were. Music really helped me get through a lot growing up, and it still does to this day. I find the words they sing to be a reminder that i am not alone, that i am not crazy, or the only one going through these thoughts or things.
I am so glad that you have been able to find hope in these songs, I think music is a great healthy way to cope. It’s great to be able to go to so you can get away from life for a little and just enjoy something you love.
I struggle with what I am meant to do in life as well. I am going on 25, dropped out of college 3 times, I had hopes and dreams that I never followed through with. I am still trying to find myself today, I m still trying to understand what I am meant to do, or what makes me happy. I am hoping that I am slowly finding it.
It takes time, please know that age does not set a limit for when you need to know what you want to do in life. I try to remind myself that there is always tomorrow, and the sun will rise and we will try again.
I am so glad you are aware that you have a purpose or a light in this life; some people have a difficult time seeing that they matter, they can make a difference. I think how you worded it here is really wonderful, like you know you have the light, but don’t know where to shine it, I will remember that.
You are not small and worthless, remember that. Remember that you have purpose, don’t let that go.
In my journey of life so far, I have found that I just really want to make people know that they are not alone in what they have been through, what they have felt, what they have tried to do, or the thoughts that they have had. I have hobbies, like art, and music, and playing video games, and my dream is to make that all come together one day, where I can truly be happy in what I am doing with my life.
Thank you again for being open with us here. I appreciate your time, and I’m sure there will be more Toole reactions in the future! I am so glad you are here.
Keep going my friend.
With love,
Lys
No we dont HAVE Light, We ARE Light!!! Everything IS Light!!
I hope this song helps people recognise that they have a spirit
Even when they are alive
Nails always on point.
This song has one of their tightest performances.
Thankyou Marshall
💯♥️🇦🇺
Pneuma is the CONNECTION between body and spirit... Song is using this metaphorically to represent a relationship.. an attempt to keep it from failing through time.. "wake up, remember"
This song and Rosetta Stoned are one of the hardest songs to play on guitar
Love how you analyze all this music, please look into "smile empty soul, loser, alone with nothing or all in my head.
The Pneuma drum cam video, will show that Danny Carey must have Octopus DNA
That thumbnail is hilariously good.
It's amazing how you get this from the gut go I would love to go to therapy with you
