Thanks for watching, from all of us at Matt's off-road recovery! - Авто/Мото
This is us!! When I called for help, it was 7:30 pm and starting to rain 🌧 Not a good thing!! Matt's concern was that we were safe and had a place to sleep ❤ We were camping there, so we were fine. He assured us that he would get us out no matter what, and he was not kidding.. even though a chain reaction occurred and Colt got stuck as well. What an awesome group of people doing what they love and having fun!! The BLT's were delicious and it was fun chit chatting about the channel and hanging out. Down to earth people! Thanks for doing what you do!! We were sooo grateful this did not ruin our vacation and turned out the way it did 😎🤙
Great to hear from one of their customers Good vibes . - Ken
Thanks for giving Matt great content.
BLT's make every situation better!
@@Sn0w1981 Haha!! For sure! It was the least I could do for them 🤝
Sounds like it just added to the adventure! Got to meet some new awesome friends!
"I'm feeling defeated." "Your feet are right there." Thank you Trevor. I needed that.
I lost it at the comment, definitely something I’ll never forget
I have said before in the UK in the mud with no trees we use a land anchor. Matt please look into it she will save. Be you will need to dig it out after.
LMAO I thought I’d be the only one that caught that lol
😂😂
yup, and his Morrvair has been retired (with swamp tires) 🤪
When this happens with a tractor around here, we just wait a couple weeks for the ground to dry up harder deeper down, then put it in low gear and drive it right out.
Guys, you should consider making a sand/mud anchor and take it with you for this kind of rescue. I had to jury rig one once, but you could whip one out in your shop.
You take a flat piece of steel plate maybe 3 feet by 3 feet, triangular shaped. Weld on some strong hinges about a foot from one end. Have a five foot bar that bolts to the hinges, and add some stock above it as a brace, so it can hinge one way but not the other.
The hinge is so you can fold it for stowage.
Hammer the pointed end of the flat plate into the mud, all the way in so the long bar is right down to the surface. Attach your winch line to the other end of the bar. The brace keeps the plate perpendicular to the bar, so it cannot fall forward and just pull out - visualize it like taking a hoe and hammering the blade down into the ground so the hoe handle is flat on the ground. Now grab that handle and try to pull it out - not pull up, but in line with the handle. Even in loose sand a 2 to 3 foot wide, 3 foot deep piece of place can hold against thousands of pounds of pull. and it comes back out of the ground pretty easily when rocking it and pulling straight up.
I was stuck miles from anywhere, and hundreds of yards from anything I could anchor to. I made a crude anchor out of scraps in the back of my truck and was able to winch myself out.
You guys know the kind of sand and mud you contend with - I am sure you can figure out the best size and sh ape for an anchor. Take it with you when heading to something like this rescue
You don't even need that an since these guys are supposedly Pros, They should already know you bury a spare tire an hook up the winch to it.
Can you use a boat anchor? Like a plow or Danforth. I always wonder that when I see them get stuck like this.
@@aarontooth you can use anything at all that will either dig in or stay buried long enough to winch off of.
"My life is full of weird things, I hang out with you two" I nearly sprayed coffee on the screen laughing. Nice one Lizzie.
Same lol
😂🤣😂
M.f.c same here...love this awesome group of folks....
Me too. Brilliant comment by Lizzie
The world needs more willing to be like her
Sometimes four wheel drive just gets you stuck fifty feet further down the trail.
The difference between two wheel drive and four wheel drive is how far you walk when you're stuck.
My grampa claimed 4x4 was to back out, when you get stuck in 2x...
Not keep going ahead.
For that exact reason.
The clips of Colt & Company were hilarious 🤣
I absolutely love the camaraderie between the whole team. No matter the job, you guys always seem to have a good time. Plus its always good to see you guys bring Ed with. Ive been taking care of my dad who doesnt have much time left at all, and i swear your videos are one of the few things to put a smile on my face and keep me going. Love you guys! Keep up the awesome work!
"I do weird things all the time like hanging out with you two" 😂 Best line EVER! Well said Lizzy.
I heard that in the video and immediately came to look for the comment so I could thumbs up. Lizzie rocks!
I have to keep them on their toes somehow😂

Did he shat a chicken when he saw that screen shot of the jeep in lake.
Thats crazy how dried up that lake is. Up here in the great white north theres so much water its redic.

@@MattsOffRoadRecovery you need to invest in building you a land anchor for each rig. Cheap insurance and will always get you home Sir.

the only thing that would have made this video perfect .. at the end lizzie handing Matt a ' so we made a call ' T shirt
I thought the same thing. Lol.
i made almost the same comment before i saw yours!!
That is a clever observation and would have been fun. Bleeping Jeep must have a case of them by now.

We moved to from Cedar City UT to Page AZ in early spring of 1965. Lake Powell was still filling, and Lone Rock was not known as Lone rock because you could get to it in a dune buggy with big balloon tires. I was there in 1983 when the plywood splash boards were installed on the dam spillways. Now Lake Powell's level is back to where it was in 1965. Amazing!!! It will be back!!
Matt & Company, I’ve been watching your videos for a few months now. While I’m genuinely intrigued with your projects & some of your more challenging recoveries, I find myself watching more recently just as a pick me up. Love your relationships with your family & friends. Every episode has a happy ending. “We’ll get them out”! Keep up the good work!
Lizzy consistently impresses me.
She's a remarkable woman with exceptional qualities, and should be recognized and honoured for them.

Lizzy is great at whatever she needs to do.

yeah i didn't know one of her skill was a B Movie monster. her talents are endless
I can almost hear the desperation in your voice…
Trevor and Lizzy are the duo of the decade. So entertaining!
Matt, Matt, Matt.....you weren’t defeated. You just set your tires for the pull, and you just needed the gang to bring you some rope, while you built customer relations, as you enjoyed a nice meal prepared by said customer. What a life you’ve got man.
Matt: "because I am defeated..."
Trevor: "your feet are right there!" LOL!! I think most people didn't get that joke... but it's friggin funny.
best channel, wonderful people. God bless them all.
Well Matt you can’t say that people don’t watch RZR recovery’s anymore because they’re not interesting, because this one was _interesting!_
Was kind of hoping Lizzy would offer Matt a shirt 😂
When plowing fields, if you get your tractor stuck, it's really stuck. Nothing short of a bulldozer can pull out a full size 4x4 tractor with dualies on front and back. Secret trick to save yourself; run a log underneath the machine in front of the back tire, wrap a chain around one end of the log then hook through the tractor rim, repeat samething on other end of log to the other back tire. Keeping a sharp eye on the log, try driving forward. The log will lift you out of the rut, but you can only do a half rotation so be prepared to repeat the whole process a dozen times. But it will get you out of that hole.
My large winch truck with 1000' of cable works great for pulling out said tractors from whatever distsnce is necesary.
Only the professional driver can get stuck the deepest! It’s not an embarrassment it’s a badge of Honor🤗🇺🇸🇨🇦
One of the most entertaining episodes ever. I was sorry it had to end.
I am with you, but they weren't🤣

This is just a reminder of how much we miss Lizzie she was awesome at her many jobs!
Canceling the Dentist appointment was the right call by Lizzie! You can always get a tooth pulled out but it’s not everyday you can help pull out a RZR, Jeep, traction Mats and a Morvair.

Dancing, rodeo, welding, recoveries and now wakeboarding. Lizzy really needs her own channel.
I'd agree with that . 4SURE!
Trevor needed to shake his fist and say, "Matthew!!"💪
When Flaming Gorge Reservoir is low, there is a mud flat that forms on Big Dry Creek near where it joins the Green River. I was fishing and watched 7 Four wheel trucks get stuck one after another. One guy got stuck and called his buddy. He got stuck and they called another friend and so on and so on. That was one Hell of a good show I can tell you that for sure!
There is "no quit" in MORR. Outstanding.
I always say being a professional isn't about doing the job perfect everytime, it's in how you fix a mistake when they do happen because they always do.
One time in Nevada I was ridding my XT600 across a "dry" lake. I was in 5th gear at about 50 MPH, when I started to do down. I was all by myself, and 40 miles from my pickup. I immediately snapped the throttle wide open, and headed for the edge. The old 600 had gobs of torque, and I had it geared for 95 MPH. I was tacked out in 5th gear, and going slower and slower. When I made it to the edge, the bike was going 5 MPH, but the back tire was going 95 MPH. I was digging a trench like you would not believe, BUT, I did make it out. I had a friend that broke through the crust on the same "dry" lake, and we had to leave it out there for a month so it would dry out. It was soooooo sticky when he got stuck that it took him 3 hours to crawl a mile. Yes, crawl. He said that he had never been so scared.
The same thing will happen at the salt flats next to Salt Lake City. I lived in Elko Nevada at the time, and I was going home from Salt Lake City. I saw some people walking around a Jeep about 3/4 of a mile from the freeway. I walked out there and found a guy from Australia, and a girl from the UK. They had met while exploring the USA, and were doing it together. They had a Range Rover, and it was stuck. They had dug it out, so it was in a hole in the mud, but it was not high-centered. They asked me if I had any ideas. I said that they should unload all of their camping gear out of the back, and lower the tire pressure. We did that, and with the girl driving and both of us guys pushing, we got the Rover back on top of the crust. We loaded it back up and we drove it to the freeway. There was a service station a couple of miles farther west where they could air up their tires. I always wonder if they ever became a "couple".
Great story, thanks for sharing!
Fun story, liked reading it :)
After that experience, it either bonded them for life or they hated each other, LOL. Well done to you for helping, most Aussies even experienced off-roaders are not used to dry lake beds as the big lakes here that dry up are a very long way out west. Places such as Lake Eyre (3600 sq miles when full) are hardly a weekend trip for more than a small number of people.
@@marvindebot3264 Well Marvin, they were sure lovie dovie while I was helping them. They had went out there from the freeway and had camped for the night. It was only in the morning when they attempted to leave that they got stuck. On the salt flats there is a very thin salt crust. If, for instance, they would have spun the tires when they took off, that would be all it took to break through the crust.
I, myself have been helped out of a sticky situation by a perfect stranger more than once. I like to play it forward. It is almost always a delightful experience. Just listening to their accents was a trip in its self. What are the odds of a guy from Australia, and a gal from England meeting each other in a country as large as the USA?
this has to be my favorite video so far, for everything, the recovery, the friendship, the fun, the jokes, the footage !!
I really dislike Powell mud. I call it “Apple Pie”. Top hard crust, and a gooey bottom. When venturing out to the, now “dry” lakebed, I carry a really large and heavy boat anchor and shovel. Dig a hole, place the boat anchor in it, cover it and winch to it. It’s like a “deadman” anchor we use in canyoneering. Works very well, as long as the boat anchor is large, with an aggressive angle (it goes deeper as you pull on it). It’s often a pain in the arse to get the anchor back, but it never fails me. I’ve been stuck in that same mud, multiple times. But got ourselves out every time!
There is no good news on the internet and its cold and overcast where I am. And then I find your latest adventure. I can't stop laughing and am ready to face the world again. Many thanks to Matt and the whole team for reminding me there's fun to be had no matter what you're doing.
There is truth in what you have said here David!!!
get the w.a.s.p.
Line of the day. "Matt: Do you know why i sound defeated? Because I'm defeated....... Trevor: But your feet are right there". Lol
I'm a claims adjuster, recently handled one where a backhoe was attempting to pull out a stuck tractor with 120' of rope, similar to this. The mounting point on the stuck tractor gave way, and the shackle flew back to the backhoe with great force and precision, piercing the windshield of the backhoe and killing the operator with blunt force trauma. Be careful when towing with long lines.
The mockingbird song! I love the dumb and dumber reference! 🏆🇺🇸 😆 6:28
It's more entertaining when things go wrong, as long as no one gets hurt.
Also, the correct vehicle for this recovery was the snowcat.
But if you get that stuck there is nothing in the world getting it out of that mud...
Thankfully doesn’t weigh much so long as you can spin the tracks corvair would pull it 💪
that what I was thinking then I remembered seeing movies of WW2 tanks getting stuck in the mud, as heavy as the snow cat is she would have been stuck too
@@Stumper52 You'd need one of those crazy screw tanks for that job.
@@777poco Everything can get stuck. I saw a D10 Cat stuck so deep that the top deck was even with the ground. The engine was covered with mud and water, and could not be started. It took 3 excavators to dig it out. In the spring in Nevada, when the frost goes out of the ground, normally solid ground turns into bottomless pits. Then 2 weeks later it is fine.
You guys need a land anchor! Especially being out there in the desert. They don't hold a ton of pressure but it's usually enough to get you pulled out of most situations. Not the "dead man" style but the shovel head style.
Great video! 😆
I feel a "Lizzy can't weld" video coming up, just to make her own land anchor..
Good project
Like a CQR boat anchor that digs itself in?
Came across a guy on the beach that was testing boat anchors. He hooked my recovery anchor up to compare to his boat anchors. His good boat anchor held about 3 times as much as my anchor does. Was clearly a wast of money.
Ha! Just asked the same! Looks like a great addition to the arsenal.
"Well, it big and terrible" 🤣🤣 Poor Lizzy
It's pronounced data. Love you guys. My partner often turns to me on the couch and asks "are you watching your recovery guy?". The answer is usually yes.
Not gonna lie, love all you guys but Lizzy is my favorite. She's always ready to jump right into it and always has a line or two that really makes me laugh. I buried my Tahoe like that a couple of years ago when my daughter gave me a "hold my beer" moment 😂

I watch RV and Vanlife videos because I have a custom Sprinter. Those channels, along with their companion Instagram accounts, get slammed for glamorizing "the life" and many have highlighted this location. Matt keeps it real.

What’s crazy is you can be in a group and three Jeeps go through easily and the fourth sinks to the axles. Really unpredictable.
I have wheeled from Florida to Maine to California to Washington and most everywhere in between. That was by far the worst Gumbo Mud I have ever seen. I'd be surprised if a set of boggers or tractor tires would've even made a difference.

Matt, have you looked at land anchors? I've seen them successfully used for self recovery, though I'm sure that they are not the answer in every case.
Land anchors are a great idea of you have the room for them. In this case, Trevor would have to ride on it die to lack of room. I do know exactly what you mean but I am sure space is a real limiting factor.
They were in a lake…sort of.
,wrap a chain around your spare wheel ,dig a hole ,then back fill ,there is your ground anchor , if you got 2 spares ,2 anchors ,used this loads of times
Full 17 minutes of laughter. Glad it all worked out.
To answer your question: You did not. First, you got the customer out - and first. That showed that the were the most important. But also you had the experience and knowledge to know that this place was a tar pit and getting the Morvair out was not a slam dunk. You guys are awesome!
Finally! A video where the gang gets stuck. I can sleep easy now😁 Nice folks sharing a meal 👍

That stuff is hard to wash off too.
You should see the carwash after a major event like trail hero or winter jam, especially if rain or snow happens. The mud is out of control. I don’t think their little bit of mud is going to make much of a difference.
