Matt's apparent immunity to the cold always impresses me. Everyone else is wearing coats/hats/gloves and he's in a short sleeve shirt.
I think this all the time! But then my heavy winter coat is a fleece lined hoodie.
He explained his ability to weather the cold he uses his mind to sort of trick his body into keeping him warm. I've found if you embrace the cold and convince yourself you love the cold you can stand colder weather.
He's said it before.. he's a mammal and can regulate his temperature haha
In a past video Matt addressed this particular super power he possesses; one he worked at and created. He attributes it to a deliberate, recalibration of what the brain perceives as cold. How the brain (you) reacts to peripheral body temperature sensors yelling at the brain; "cold, COLD, fucking COLD!". A friend of Matt's put him on to it. He seems to have successfully stilled "normal" reactions to very low temps; like shivering to create body heat by muscle activity and whinging.
It all makes perfect sense to me as I discovered this effect decades ago and successfully trained myself to not be so affected by cold. Very Whim Hoff (spelling?). Friends and I started caving (spelunking) in the karst of Tasmania in the early 80s. Tasmania has many cold wet caves. I was deemed mildly hyperthermic one time. I refused some offered chocolate while we paused at a furthest, blind tunnel end. So I started only dressing in a heavy shirt to go out at night. No jumper or coat. While others had scarfs, hats and gloves. Eventually it meant that on the weekend. When I was underground and cold it was no big deal.
Short sleeve shirt and ladies sunglasses, in a snowstorm - like a Boss:)
Hats off to Trevor, I’ve never seen anyone running backwards in snowshoes. 👍
Maybe he had them on backwards lol
Exactly what I was thinking. It’s hard enough to walk backwards slowly but running is something else.
Do snow shoes work on sand?
Tuckers comment “The last melon” so unappreciated! Classic line!
Trevor fell, Matt has no coat, Lizzy has a baggy of ‘snacks’ and fell asleep, Rudy & Tucker just chill as usual. That’s what we love about the MORR family.
My grandpa always said, ‘The only thing you can do with gloves on is pee your pants.’ I may have shared that in the comment section on this channel once before but Lizzy’s comment just fit perfect.
Let me add Matt having no qualms about protecting his eyes with women's sunglasses. 😎
Matt never has a coat. Forgets at least one article of clothing in every video. Hat, belt, shades - always something.
Was gramps in a wheelchair?
I love Trevor's outlook on things: Ford's stuck again. "That assures that it will be there waiting for us when we get back" LMAO!
he is a little bit like how Randy was...
my thoughts as well!
I missed that little nugget of wisdom from Trevor.
Trevor, thank you so much for explaining why you guys drive so long to recover these vehicles!! That question has always been on my mind, and it's such a simple explanation!! Congratulations to your son on his wedding!!
Just as impressive as the recoveries is Lizzy's ability to sleep under any circumstances :D
The joys of youth. I remember those days.🤣
She could have been a surgeon. Military folks get pretty good at this skill as well.
Just one of Lizzie's many talents, seriously. The ability to nap at the drop of a hat (or a snowflake) is medically proven to keep you sharp as long as it's under 45 minutes.
Trevor, hang on to those show shoes. It doesn't take long to get the hang of them and then you'll want them around all the time. Throw them in the back of the Bombi, wrapped up of course. They'll reduce your horizontal count considerably. Swing your leg out slightly away at the knee to keep them clear of each other. Might even work in soft sand!
In general, what possesses you to go into snow territory without chains? Rudy spent four years in Canada. He knows this stuff. 'Course he's not the boss, so whatever.
Send the Bombi to Rory, tell him to make it Trailmater bulletproof and send it back. With a small block of some kind in it. Three cylinders, then six cylinders when it feels so inclined just doesn't make the cut.
Or get that beautiful monster you showed at Robby's. Obviously came from a ski resort but it can make its own dang road with that plow and it will take a monster winch, bigger than anything I've seen on any show so far.
Love you all and congratulations to Trevor's son and his bride. May they live long and happy.
Thanks for a fun video and best regards from E. Ontario!
im impressed by how useless she is.
@@snarkymcsnarkles3493 she's learning. she only just turned 20. she drives a lot of recoveries and does a lot of welding on shop projects. even first round draft picks in the NFL can sit the bench for their first year.
Trevor falls so often, which is usually funny & yet he can run backwards in snow shoes. Another fun team effort.
Lizzy's personality can definitely fill and light up a room or vehicle cab! 😁
Lizzy has a boyfriend. 😀
At least when she's not asleep. (Good lord, that woman will nap through the apocalypse if she's in a moving vehicle.)
@@ebikeliverystable I dont think his comment had anything to do with that but okay. Lol
She is like me. Can sleep anywhere at anytime.
@@ebikeliverystable what does her having a bf have to do with admiring her lovely personality? I think Trevor has an awesome personality but I'm probably NOT going to ask him marry me because he has a wife. 😂
One simple rule, Matt: Buy the cheapest sunglasses you can; they are impossible to lose. I bought a cheap pair once, threw them off the end of the pier in Santa Monica CA. I RAN back to my car, looked in my glovebox, and there they were!!
NO, that's not my original joke.
This is too real. I had a very nice (and pricey) pair of shades for less than a month and a damn PINE CONE fell from a tree on me and broke them. Now I have a pair of gas station cheapos and they seem to last forever.
@@justanotheryoutubeuploader Two lesson here: (1) Never wear pricey shades under pine trees, and (2) Don't remember the second one.
lol!
My Dad (God rest his soul), used to always say, "four wheel drives are only good at getting you in to places that you shouldn't have been in, in the first place"! His words of wisdom seem to ring true when watching some of these MORR videos! Specifically this one. Thanks for always sharing your journey with us MORR team! "Love you Dad"!!
Who would've thought you could have such a successful you tube show about recovering stuck vechicles lol. The whole crew definitely makes it worth it.
For anyone who doesn't experience Winter weather (and maybe for those that do) when the temperature ir right around freezing is when roads are the worst. Nothing more dangerous than the mixture of frozen/liquid you get then.
I avoid driving when the temperature hangs around 0 Celsius.
Better with -4 than +4.
Living in Finland and I agree.
Yep. I can deal with it being slick when I expect it to be slick. Really hard when it’s a mix and you expect it to be just wet and it’s actually frozen.
Except it gets bad again at about maybe -20C and lower when things start to really freeze solid again, polish up, salt stops working, and even your winter tires start to harden up. Oh and all the exhaust condensation makes intersections a completely skating rink.
Good tip thank you, I don't drive in the snow much on the west coast, I'll keep it in mind when i do.
This honestly looks like one of the most enjoyable jobs in the world glad you can bring this type of content to all of us to see.
It really isn't. Just like anything it gets old. But I suppose it does have it's perks. Sometimes they get to go 4 wheeling to get to a job and they live in beautiful country.
I've always thought the same! I'm sure there's lots of downsides but the pros have to outweigh them. Getting to offroad/overland to rescue people, among such beautiful scenery, is so cool.
@@angrydingus5256 Nah, your office job will get old way before this ever will. Everyday is a new day, never know what you gonna get. Spend time outside in nature, get to recover different vehicles, using different recovery vehicles, and on your "off" days you get to build and maintain your recovery vehicles. And to top it off you have a very successful youtube channel that brings in more money than the actual recoveries do. It doesn't get much better than this.
@@angrydingus5256 You know youre living a delusional life when you think this is going to get old. Yeah right dude, everyone wishes they could laugh and joke between real rewarding work.
We are nice and warm, how would you like laying in the snow with snow down your back, trying to find a place to hook to, when you can't feel your fingers or toes?
I've spent many winters working outside in the cold, you can have it.
Hahaha Trevor singing the Corb Lund Band, Truck Got Stuck...... niiiiiice 👌👌
The Chev got stuck, the ford got stuck, the chev unstuck when the dodge showed up, but the dodge got stuck in the tractor rut, which eventually pulled out the ford!!!!
I'm sure Matt realizes how much fun and enthusiasm Travor, Tucker and Lizzie bring to these adventures!
I only wished he did!!
Maybe someday he’ll realize how much his site was so dependent on them 😢
So there I was this morning in my nightshirt, after breakfast, checking the e-mail, and on a whim I opened RUclips. Hey, Matt and the gang were off to rescue three or maybe four trucks from various snow drifts. I really got involved in this story, right down to the feel of snow on my face and fingers frozen to cold steel. As they delivered the trucks to the bank parking lot, I started thinking "Damn, I need to get dressed--and be sure to put on my Alaska parka, because that snow outside is going to be cold. Oh, hold on. There''s no snow on the ground here on the Olympic Peninsula." You had me for a moment. But I got dressed anyway and cleaned out the sink drain, a task not so exciting, but age appropriate..
lol, nice!
I'm sitting here in Kotzebue in my parka, I feel ya
Lizzy: “I cant do anything with gloves on”.
Don’t feel bad Lizzy. I had a good friend tell me once that the only thing a person can do good with gloves on is pee your pants!
LOL, I never forgot it…
Never a bad thing to be nervous going into bad weather
You know it's gonna be a good one when the first rescue is blue steel...
I honestly wish I could nap anywhere like Lizzy does.
Clean conscience.
I kinda wanted to see the drive back. Just to make sure that '57' 2 door was ok.
I like all the gentlemen treating Lizzy with style and grace.
Lizzy and her Frosted flakes, gotta love her!
I was born and raised in the mountains of Colorado. The house I grew up in was at 8800 feet. Anybody going on on maintained roads with snow and does not have tire chains is going to call Matt.
HEY! Good morning everybody and thumbs UP to MORR
Trevor Has a son OLD enough to get married!!!🤩😅
unbleavable! I always thought he is way younger! :)
Congrats papa T ❤️
Three stuck trucks, five recoveries. Classic MORR. I quit forgetting my sunglasses when I started wearing prescription lenses and started forgetting my clear lenses. Squinting don't fix dark.
Trevor!!!! It's ok buddy, back in my younger days I rode dirt bikes and all my buddies called me the "crash dummy". I lived up to that name for sure!
It’s hard enough to move forward on snowshoes let alone run backwards. Impressive!
"The last melon" sounds like an Ice Age reference.... love it.
Wow, that snowcat is paying for itself many times over with this company.
We love the show, but we really love Lizzie...her attitude and smile are infectious....
My dad always used to say, 2 wheel drive is to get you in, 4 wheel drive is to get you out. Too many times we use 4 wheel drive to keep going in further. If your going to use that method, then you better have other options. (maybe tire chains?) At least you all take along your own rescue vehicle.
LOL Trevors Corn flakes joke has me chuckling, his falls are epic!
Fun song! Right up your alley! Nice sunglasses, coatless boss, snow shoes, cheese cake & big personalities! 🏂🪝❄️🕺💛
Love Trevor's "moon walk" in the snow shoes!!!
When your doing what you love, you don’t need a jacket!
Well done rescue 911. Please take a moment and give that Bombi some love. She's struggling.
I've noticed Matt's really been coming out his Shell 🐚 last few years and he's actually funny 😁
Do we have to take up a special offering to get Trevor some walking lessons? Kidding, kind of.
Keep up the good work, love seeing your videos.
Good job with the recoveries and I knew Lizzy would fall asleep and Trevor would fall lol.
Enjoyed watching this show.
At least Trevor fell in the snow, so he had a soft landing. I think he stepped into some ice and slipped.
Watching coat-less Matt reminds me of what my daddy used to say to me…”Where there’s no sense there’s no feeling!”. Another great episode!!!
Im glad the snow is over here, I do not miss it.
90 minutes! That was awesome! Although truth be known, I would have love seeing Robby Layton and his SnowCat playing in the snow! Trevor is gonna need to wear a hard hat to these things. Oh, and Lizzy's day-glo green hat makes her easy to pick out in the driver's seat. Thanks team MORR!
85 lol
Hard hats don't protect your head from falls LOL
Spoiler alert next time you asshole
@@marcusaurelius652 why do you read the comments before you watch the vid if you're sensitive about spoilers?
I'm here because Matt is finally wearing sunglasses, STUNNING i must say!
I grew up in your part of the country, Grand Junction, Rock Springs, and Salt Lake. Left in the mid-1960s to see the world " got Drafted." Mon and Dad retired in Cedar City, so I spent time in Cedar City And St. George. I miss it all except the brutal winters. I now live in the deep south. I immensely love your vids as I see some of the most beautiful land in the world. God love you'll....D.J. Mac
Saying "The roads are treacherous!" is the most American thing to say :D
First time I've ever seen Matt a little nervous heading up the mountain. lol The snow recoveries are somthin else. Great job as always!
By his own admission, sand is his specialty, then mud. He is less comfortable with snow because he has the least experience with it.
Thanks for the content! I'm definitely going to swing by and pick up a t-shirt when I go to see my uncle in St. George.
Yes it is worth it to go. I was there last May 1700 miles from San Jose CA and yes it was the Scenic route. Matt and crew took the time to make me feel like one of the family. By the way I have a signed t-shirt from the whole crew for sale to pay for the gas bill 😝🤣.
HIT THE LIKE BUTTON 👍 TO KEEP TRACK OF WHAT VIDEOS YOU HAVE SEEN.
A BIG FAN, LENNY
I don’t see how that could’ve gone any smoother!👍
Rory's repairs are golden!!
Trevor - good job with those snowshoes! Running _backwards_ is not easy!
@@georgevinson612 they are not even traditional snowshoes.
Anyone that wants to go off-roading should be watching your channel.
Btw the shades were on point 🎯
no watch after that way Matt keeps busy lol
16:25 and Matt's amazing crew has to do the dirty work.....with a smile! Go team go!
Trevor. You should have your own chat show. People would love you. 👍👍👍👍
Yay a vid with miss Lizzie. She is the only adult that can fall asleep in any vehicle, seat or placement. Great vid as always gals and guys
This crew is my favorite!
Awesome team work as usual. Trevor is so funny in those snow shoes.
Tucker with the win and a great movie reference! *The last melon...* 🤣🤣
Thanks for the musical suggestion! Those lyrics definitely brought back some memories! 🤣✌️ In our early teens my brother and our friends would sneak out a car at 1:00 in the morning and go on little joyrides. Long story short my brother ended up towing a Volkswagen squareback sedan about three or four miles with a Suzuki GS 850 at about 3:00 in the morning in Chesterton Indiana. The early 80s were a different time! I forgot to add that he went back and snuck out the 850 too!!😯
"We came prepared... I brought cheesecake!" - Rudy ready to weather the apocalypse.
Trevor "We don't want an incident" immediately has one! Lol!
All you need was a dodge and a couple sacs of canola seed! One of my favorite songs and videos! Keep it up MORR!
Rorys repair sure is becoming less temporary every time haha
Great recovery, great team, great video and Lizzy exudes personality even when she is asleep
Lizzy my friends grandpa once told me there are only 2 things gloves are good for 1. Keeping your hands covered and 2. Peeing your pants! That recovery looked like a lot of fun love the snow recoveries
Skyline drive is gnarly during the summer I can’t imagine during the winter. Good work!
Great teamwork by all....great recovery....I think you guys should roll up Trevor in bubble-wrap for safety !!.... lol
I always thought a snow drift is a weather formation or condition. Thanks to this season's of Matt's Offroad Recovery I am not in the dark anymore... except for being in dark Africa where it never snows 👍🙂🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
My vrou is Grieks. 😁🤓🇿🇦🇨🇦🇬🇷
@@FerdiLouw At first glance I thought you wrote in Dutch but soon realized it's Afrikaans. Could read it no matter ;-)
You can have the best 4x4 in the world and all it takes is a bit of ice and you're screwed :) This takes me back to my towing and recovery days at Golden State Towing in Castaic CA the bottom of the Grapevine :) Fun times.
We stopped by the shop this week. Had fun checking out Morrvair and the Banana. Rykker was great allowing us to see your operation. Trevor was working on the Banana so enjoyed visiting with him. We picked up a recovery rope while we were there. Thanks for your you tube channel and the entertainment.
I can't believe how Matt can do all of this without even a jacket. Blows my mind. I am freezing if it gets below 50 outside.
He explains it in one of the previous videos.
It’s surprising how you can acclimatize to different temps. By the end of summer I find a +5 degree Celsius night frigid. But this morning I walked outside in my bathrobe and thought it was a beautiful warm morning at -5 degrees Celsius.
Methril undergarments like frodo
It keeps amazing me that you never bring snow chains to snow recoveries 😄 How much easier they would have made your lives!
I have played up there in the winter during the hunts but had big tires and big chains on board.
Tire chains are great and can sure save your butt, however they are a major pain to put on. I would carry some just in case,, but why bother chaining up when you have a snow cat to pull you out?
@@chrisloehr6641 modern chains are a breeze to put on. Self tensioning and everything.
I keep thinking the same thing. Put some chains on those trucks and you would not get stuck in that much snow. Especially if you do all 4 wheels. Mine go on in 5 minutes. 2 clips in the front, 1 on the back and a tightener. But i guess that's not as fun (or as fun to watch) as trying to make it without :)
Drove through Utah yesterday north to south. Sure was a comfort knowing I could call you if I needed to. Like having a friend on standby.
I Love that you drive a FORD Matt!!!! I’ve loved Ford since I was a Kid.
Nice recoveries!
One thing truck owners don't seem to realize is that when their truck is unloaded at the rear, it's essentially a front wheel drive truck when it's in 4WD. The only advantage being ground clearance. My AWD minivan does much better in snow than my 4WD truck, both with the same tires.
500 pounds in the bed I found of value with some of the weight being sand and the rest Beer & firewood
@@hunterlogan2913 Or even just shoveling snow into the back can help a bit.
Good stuff I would of never think of this till now
Yep. My dad used to set a round bale in the bed of his truck every time it snowed.
@@bustedknuckles6051 My next door neigbor used four 100 pound pieces of steel in his half ton.
Well done, gents.......and lady!!
Hotter than heck so I went back to watch this video! Yep, cooled me off. It is 98f dg here! But as I watch Trevor’s “Sasquatch walk” it does not feel so hot. Thanks to Matt’s Crew!!!❤️
All I can say is those sunglasses are the bomb. With Matt driving up the mountain, both hands on the wheel. That was a hoot!
I was a fan of SRK Cycles and Bikes and Beards channels long before I found Matt’s Off Road Recovery. The Golden Nugget project introduced me to Fab Rats, Robbie Layton, Tom Tom, and Bleepin’ Jeep. I am really glad you guys hooked up and got together on these jobs. I think what you guys are doing for Ed is FANTASTIC!
Crazy! Thought the recoveries were wtf but here comes Matt in his team jersey regardless of the temps!
Matt is a true snowman. Everybody is all bundled up and Matt is always in a short sleeve shirt.... Aloha
Matt's comment about sunglasses really hit home for me, I keep at least one pair in each Jeep, and one by the door at home. In a perfect world this would mean I always have them on me, but that isn't always true lol
You have to remind Trevor that they make ice cleats to put on your boots! LOL!! Nice recovery!! I know from experience that ice under the snow makes things really difficult. Even when you can get trough the snow there is NO traction. Chains are the only thing that helps.. well, unless you call Matt!! LOL!! Love your videos and and your crew!!
Frosted flakes 😁 You guys do an awesome job You are a good team👍 I cant imagine being stuck up there for 2 days😳 with no snacks That snow cat😻 is cool and your shades too😎😁👍
Great recoveries y'all, Tucker get's the win 90 minutes, thank's for another awesome video MORR 😉👍❄❄
