5:40 The fact that your watch charges slowly is a good thing.. I don’t know why people get so het-up on slow battery charging. You have failed to understand the slower you charge ‘any’ battery, the longer you preserve its power cells. The reason it’s slow is because - IT’S SUPPOSED TO BE SLOW!!
Yeah they would finally enable nearly instant charging and then people would complain when there battery is trashed after a month. You can never satisfy everyone lol
@@XenoDrake I sleep with mine. Use it to track my daily workouts, steps, wear it to work. I get home charge it for an hour or so and it's good to go. Can you not stand to part from your watch for an hour out of your day. It's really not the end of the world to take it off for a wee bit 🤷♂️
I've owned the gear S2 and S3 for the last several years, and one thing that is incredibly cool for me, is that Samsung has their own PC program to allow you to make your own watch faces for free, and transfer them to your watch over wifi. I've been making my own faces for years now so I can have exactly what I need without paying for it. Great video overall!

I really want this watch, but I've found out that the ECG, BP, and fall detection apps will ONLY work if you have a Samsung Galaxy phone. I hear you can also modify and sideload and hack to get them working on non-Samsung phones, but that's a lot of work that can go away with an update. I have a Note 9 right now, but if I get this watch, then I'm tying myself to my next phone being a Samsung purely to keep the watch working with all the things I paid for. I don't like that, so I'm going to sacrifice the ECG and probably get the Ticwatch Pro 3 instead.
I speak from the experience of owning 2 pebble watches, 5 wear os watches and a full android watch. I can confidently say that my galaxy watch active 2 wiped the floor with every single smartwatch I've ever owned period! 😃

Don't do it I have both the Galaxy Watch and Watch 3 except for some new features its not as good as the Galaxy Watch battery life definitely is lacking on Watch 3

Meanwhile in parallel universe, my Garmin Fenix does two weeks on a battery charge. Sure it has less smart features and the screen can’t really be compared but needing to charge my watch every other day would be a nightmare for me. Dedicated fitness watches are getting new features with every new generation and they are now good enough for most people looking for a smartwatch. And on top of that they offer excellent fitness tracking, great HR sensors, ruggedness and another level of battery life.
I’d LOVE to see a video showcasing what it can and can’t do on iOS. I mainly want to be able to track fitness, and change watch faces. I don’t need apps, calls, notifications or anything of that sort. Curious if it can do those things while paired with an iphone!

I own 2 of them (The watch 3 and previous model) Immediately after 1 year of regular usage, the watches heats up while in use and shuts down. The heating is so unbearable, if you don't pull it out of our wrist, it will burn the skin. Samsung service center checked them and asked me to pay up almost half of the watch cost to replace the motherboard and battery.

Just ordered the 45mm.Have the Gear s3 frontier 46mm so I am use to a big watch.Yes I will be buying a silicone band .Leather is a no go in my active life.Needed the health features and fall detection.i bicycle,run,walk everywhere I need to.Those features made me pull the trigger.
There are some great apps within this store if you could be bothered to look, for example ,Poddy,My converter,Air mouse,Gear Tracker, Run4Gear 2, GPS Navigation,Outdoor Maps,Mobiteka G keyboard, Samsung's own web browser seams good enough for the social media stuff and youtube. There's useful widgets and apps that are embedded into watch faces such as Sporty Watch. This is just to name some.
You can get a GPS/google maps app for a few bucks on the galaxy store. I wish it was free for the watch but the apps are being developed by small companies or individuals who aren't Samsung so they have to charge something.

galaxy watch 3 should be cheaper than apple watch. Like you said, Samsung is not putting effor they should. Just redesigned watch, put some features that actually no one needs and bumped price big time. It looks great now, but it should be a bit better to justify that price

i bought one and took it straight back!! one big flaw here in the uk you cant install google pay and are stuck with crappy samsug pay which will not accept any of the uk banks just some wiered pay as you go cards. i tried my nat west lloyds and barckleys and none of them are supported. come on samsung sort it out what a letdown

I have an active 2 and Galaxy Watch 2. As far as I am concerned, no need to buy the latest if the features aren't out yet. One frustrating thing with Samsung is they tell us way, way ahead of time of new features, but I haven't yet seen any. Why spend the money when it's way too early?
Tizen lacks apps... It is a problem... Much like the Windows Phone paradox... But since watches don't need as many random apps, this is forgivable... What is not forgivable is removing some features, like MST after the Gear S3, and lowering the battery life between the GW1 and the GW3... Then the lack of apps starts to stand out more... But we have facer, and okay integration with Samsung phones... And Water resistance... I just always feel this is 1 step forward, 2 steps back on every device... Would be nice to have some biometric logins too...
Good review. You said it brightens up on bright days? Automatically or did you mean you can turn up the brightness? I'm considering the GW3 but am concerned the face will wash out in direct sunlight. As my Note 9 phone does...unless I remember to turn up the brightness before I step out...which I rarely try...never use my phone when walking. Just turned on "adaptive brightness" on my phone. ForgotF about that feature. Is this what you meant when you were talking about the GW3?
It's a great deal. Almost as good as the magic keyboard but the trackpad isn't nearly as good. It turns it more into surface pro device than a traditional laptop because of its hinge style. I think you should go for the magic keyboard if you can but the folio touch is miles better than the smart keyboard.
It's not much of an upgrade from the previous Galaxy Watch. In hardware alone the difference is what? Bluetooth 4.2 vs 5.0 and 8gb storage vs 4gb. That doesn't even include the fact that the previous Galaxy watch has a larger battery, 50% more ram and the exact same Exynos 9110 processor with all other hardware features the same. The software isn't much different either. The add on of a EKG reader that's only out in the Korean market and and blood oxygen level reader? Cool I guess but that's it. I'm not upset I'm just confused why so many reviewers says it's a considerable upgrade to it's predecessor when in fact it isn't even close. The price drop of the galaxy watch makes it a way better buy in value.
Hi, were you able to use the watch while your phone was not nearby using the LTE option? If I leave my phone at home, I don’t receive notifications or calls because it’s disconnected from Bluetooth

I still have strava running on my galaxy watch 2. Apparently strava removed the app at some point. It is still a bit bugy toe, so probably they didn't see the need to fix them :/
I never understood when reviewers make a big deal over the size of this watch. I'm 6'0 and it's not huge at all, I also have the s3 frontier. Do some curls or something.
This was tempting to me primarily because of the sensors it's waterproof rating and the sensors it has (a built in oximeter and an EKG recently approved by the FDA!), but it's overall still not where I would want it to be to plunk down $600+. This was close, but what did it for me, is that Samsung is still married to bixby, and it just isn't great like google assistant is. It's kind of like where siri was 5 years ago (pathetic in other words). For a smartwatch, you *REALLY* need top of the line voice assistance. The other thing is, there are several android apps I really "need" that just don't exist under Tizen. In fairness, this is the same reason I don't buy apple products - siri is substandard and the app selection is limited compared to android. The apple hardware is always awesome, but so is samsumg hardware. I'm hoping that either samsung will finally bail on Tizen/bixby, or it will win the OS war over android and so all those apps will be available. Mark talked about a popular cycling app being unavailable under Tizen, and that's a 3rd issue for me as well - my preferred sporting app does not exist.

It would be great if you can do a best smart watch of 2020. I'm on the market for the absolute best watch. I tend to rely on my watch far more than my phone now-a-days and considering this im happy to pay a decent penny for it. This request isn't exclusive to a singular brand although must be compatible with samsungs s20 ultra Android software. Thanks heaps!
I like my Watch 3...but I was very disappointed that the battery was smaller...and even though Samsung claims due to software tweaks, the life should be "on par" with the original GW (it isn't). They upped the RAM only s smidge and it contains the exact same processor as the original GW. Listen up Samsung, we didn't want a watch that was "on par" with the previous model that was more than 2 years old, we wanted a significant improvement, and we did NOT get that. Every single year the apple watch is improved more than what we got here. EVERY YEAR folks. Oh, and the claim for ECG support is pretty hollow considering it's been over a year now and the Watch Active 2 STILL hasn't received it after promising support before it was released. Yes, it does come with some nice tweaks and additions that make it better...but worth upgrading for? That is a big fat NO. My 18 month old original Galaxy Watch STILL has better battery life than my GW3. One thing I was really happy about was the added memory (which was still less than it should have been...c'mon Samsung, give us 16GB's) so I could finally store music on my watch and use it instead of my regular mp3 player. Unfortunately, while tracking my workouts while listening to music, the battery life REALLY takes a hit. As in I could work out for 45 minutes starting with a nearly full battery and afterwards it'd have less than 50%. That is a BIG downgrade from my original GW. Even though I love Tizen and Samsung in general, I am really disappointed with what I got, especially since the cost has been kind of on par with the apple watches, which have historically always been a LOT more expensive. Ohhhh, 1 more thing: the packaging on the GW3 was absurdly cheap compared to the GW, the Gear S2 & S3. And one of my biggest gripes: the charging stand that came with the previous 3 watches is NOT compatible with the GW3 no matter WHAT their literature says. I have 3 charging stands that my GW3 will NOT work on. Not only that, but it won't charge on ANY Qi wireless charging pads I own, even though Samsung claims it will charge on virtually ALL charging pads. Not just a failure in my eyes, but one that ought to get a few folks FIRED over IMO.
My Galaxy Watch 2 had water ingress from regular freestyle swimming for 20 minutes per session. Samsung refuse to admit their watch is not really 5 ATM water resistant and is charging me the price of a brand new watch to repair it. I'm posting this everywhere to warn potential buyers. Apologies for spamming.

Fitbit is trash . My versa lite died after 2 yrs. Everyone has the same problem with 2 yr old versas. They don't seem to care

That doesn't even include the fact that the previous Galaxy watch has a larger battery, 50% more ram and the exact same Exynos 9110 processor with all other hardware features the same.
The software isn't much different either. The add on of a EKG reader that's only out in the Korean market and and blood oxygen level reader? Cool I guess but that's it. I'm not upset I'm just confused why so many reviewers says it's a considerable upgrade to it's predecessor when in fact it isn't even close. The price drop of the galaxy watch makes it a way better buy in value.
Hi, were you able to use the watch while your phone was not nearby using the LTE option? If I leave my phone at home, I don’t receive notifications or calls because it’s disconnected from Bluetooth

I still have strava running on my galaxy watch 2. Apparently strava removed the app at some point. It is still a bit bugy toe, so probably they didn't see the need to fix them :/

I just purchased the Samsung Galaxy 4g lte. Basically same features with a much larger battery and $200 dollars less. More masculine, as well!

I never understood when reviewers make a big deal over the size of this watch. I'm 6'0 and it's not huge at all, I also have the s3 frontier. Do some curls or something.

This was tempting to me primarily because of the sensors it's waterproof rating and the sensors it has (a built in oximeter and an EKG recently approved by the FDA!), but it's overall still not where I would want it to be to plunk down $600+. This was close, but what did it for me, is that Samsung is still married to bixby, and it just isn't great like google assistant is. It's kind of like where siri was 5 years ago (pathetic in other words). For a smartwatch, you *REALLY* need top of the line voice assistance. The other thing is, there are several android apps I really "need" that just don't exist under Tizen. In fairness, this is the same reason I don't buy apple products - siri is substandard and the app selection is limited compared to android. The apple hardware is always awesome, but so is samsumg hardware. I'm hoping that either samsung will finally bail on Tizen/bixby, or it will win the OS war over android and so all those apps will be available. Mark talked about a popular cycling app being unavailable under Tizen, and that's a 3rd issue for me as well - my preferred sporting app does not exist.

It would be great if you can do a best smart watch of 2020. I'm on the market for the absolute best watch. I tend to rely on my watch far more than my phone now-a-days and considering this im happy to pay a decent penny for it.
This request isn't exclusive to a singular brand although must be compatible with samsungs s20 ultra Android software.

I like my Watch 3...but I was very disappointed that the battery was smaller...and even though Samsung claims due to software tweaks, the life should be "on par" with the original GW (it isn't). They upped the RAM only s smidge and it contains the exact same processor as the original GW. Listen up Samsung, we didn't want a watch that was "on par" with the previous model that was more than 2 years old, we wanted a significant improvement, and we did NOT get that. Every single year the apple watch is improved more than what we got here. EVERY YEAR folks. Oh, and the claim for ECG support is pretty hollow considering it's been over a year now and the Watch Active 2 STILL hasn't received it after promising support before it was released. Yes, it does come with some nice tweaks and additions that make it better...but worth upgrading for? That is a big fat NO. My 18 month old original Galaxy Watch STILL has better battery life than my GW3. One thing I was really happy about was the added memory (which was still less than it should have been...c'mon Samsung, give us 16GB's) so I could finally store music on my watch and use it instead of my regular mp3 player. Unfortunately, while tracking my workouts while listening to music, the battery life REALLY takes a hit. As in I could work out for 45 minutes starting with a nearly full battery and afterwards it'd have less than 50%. That is a BIG downgrade from my original GW. Even though I love Tizen and Samsung in general, I am really disappointed with what I got, especially since the cost has been kind of on par with the apple watches, which have historically always been a LOT more expensive. Ohhhh, 1 more thing: the packaging on the GW3 was absurdly cheap compared to the GW, the Gear S2 & S3. And one of my biggest gripes: the charging stand that came with the previous 3 watches is NOT compatible with the GW3 no matter WHAT their literature says. I have 3 charging stands that my GW3 will NOT work on. Not only that, but it won't charge on ANY Qi wireless charging pads I own, even though Samsung claims it will charge on virtually ALL charging pads. Not just a failure in my eyes, but one that ought to get a few folks FIRED over IMO.
My Galaxy Watch 2 had water ingress from regular freestyle swimming for 20 minutes per session. Samsung refuse to admit their watch is not really 5 ATM water resistant and is charging me the price of a brand new watch to repair it. I'm posting this everywhere to warn potential buyers. Apologies for spamming.
