ADDITIONAL REVIEW NOTES:
Added blood oxygen
For best results, slide up wrist slightly
Still no ECG or blood pressure
Only 8GB storage… c’mon man, it’s 2020
Strap is very comfortable. I recommend having two - one for workouts, and one for style
Rep tracking and move reminders are cool, but sometimes it sucks at rep tracking. I would almost rather it not count at all if it counts incorrectly
STILL NO ECG!!
Bezel actuation is unparalleled. A fantastic benefit of using this watch, that I miss on other watches
No Google Assistant. Not really any Google Maps but you can get Navigation Pro 3rd party app
Bixby works, sort of, but I never use it. Sometimes it freaks out and freezes and other times it turns on for no reason. Time to disable it
Battery life is better than I expected:
With normal workout, normal use, and AOD, I was getting 38.5 hrs
With lots of GPS, I was getting as little as 19 hrs
With no AOD or GPS, I was getting 49 hrs
WORKOUT TRACKING ACCURACY TESTING
When battery does die, you can easily charge with wireless charging pads, or the back of a phone
Not that many apps available - Samsung ones are still the best
Speaker is loud & clear, and phone calls work perfectly
Spotify kind of sucks, so you need to manually add songs to the music player app for offline music listening while you run
Workout screens are great and easily controlled by bezel. I like that the music player was added
Auto fitness tracking is the best! Sometimes I go for walks or runs and I don’t always remember to start my watch.
I wish Samsung Pay was easier to sign into
iPhone integration?
Overall incredible watch, with a great bezel, display, and functionality

Do you know what Wawa is? Is it better than Sheetz/Cumberland/etc?
Also, let's connect on Twitter @mikeobrienn twitter.com/mikeobrienn
Never went to a wawa so yes it is not better than sheetz
Wawa is to Sheetz as Del Frisco is to Outback Steakhouse
@@BIGGSHAUN yes so sheetz is better
I have had Wawa and I liked it but dont know the other 2
Sheetz is a bit better, they even have locations that are just a store/food shakes are good to. Cumberlands im use to are like 7-Eleven food
I love the presentation. It feels like a family member is telling me about the products. Others is like they are a fan of the product or brand. Keep it real and as good as always.
So true.
It's usually the smaller youtube channels that are honest and more in depth rather than 99% pros and 1% cons on the huge channels
Probably. Some of the camera pans are too frequent and pointless.
0:00 just look at this gorgeous piece of tech, this beauty. i can just keep looking at galaxy watch 3 all day. when you look at it from an angle it's really hard to tell it's a screen.
Exactly 💯
i wish google hopped along into the smartwatch game, i feel like their software prowess could come really far in this form factor
Keep your fingers crossed for the Fitbit acquisition! They've acquired Fossil's smartwatch tech, whatever that means. It could be they are going to take Fossil's hardware technology to make a Google branded one. They are trying to acquire Fitbit, because of the software. Wear os, for me, is fine. But I'd be lying if I said it was a fitness watch. Taking a hr reading every 20 mins, barely, isn't something to be proud of. And with that being all you get with wear os health wise, aside from step counting, you need help. Thankfully they decided to acquire Fitbit to finally understand the health/software side of things. It hasn't gone through yet, and it's been almost a year. But like I said, keep your fingers crossed!
They are coming out with a watch...I believe it's sometime in 2021.
@@KodakKylie I thought they already bought fitbit
@@Pbeezy4 no. EU is investigating them. Google has recently updated what they'll do with the acquisition, said they'd restrict the use of Fitbit data and make it easier for other smartwatch/fitness trackers to pair with Android. The EU has until December to decide.
Um...the fossil smartwatches have googles *wear os...*
Meaning,those are the "google" smartwatches...
There's also the suunto 7, it's as well using the google wear os
I work in the medical field, and I think accurate blood pressure monitoring is difficult to achieve through smartwatches. You have to have proper tightness on the band and also needs to be placed at specific pulse points to read the blood pressure right. That's why no smart watches yet are able to do it on their own. You have to have specific equipment for this type of stuff. I think they should stop promising us those stuff.
Samsung says not to assume those measurements are perfectly accurate and only to use them as guidelines or indicators. A watch will never beat true medical equipment.
Not a single manufactur has ever claimed that it is as accurate as medical equipment
I find it to pretty Accurate, I have blood pressure monitor machine. I just did a reading on both and got watch reading of 118/78 and on monitor 119/ 77 it's always very close and sometimes exactly the same
As a medical worker I find them to be extremely accurate. I've hooked girls up to the BP rolling cart we use on patients, identical readings is the norm
As an older guy, and walking the dog in the woods, I have been looking for gps tracking info (sending my location to wife's phone) and fall alert, sos emergency info being sent incase of fall.
You can use a phone to do this, if this is the only thing you want it for
Try Life360 app
Get the garmin 6.
Great content, been watching couple of your reviews.
The way you are narrating and the close up shots of the product is the best part.
This channel needs to go up👍🏼
I came to the galaxy watch 3 from a fitbit versa. I could not be happier with the switch. I didn't realize how not smart the versa was.
I use my watch for so many things. Playing disc golf I can put my phone in my bag. Answered phone calls, responded to texts. It's been great.
Same! I love being able to reply to messages now and have phone calls.
The shortest battery life on my galaxy watch 42mm was 6 hours, but that was me literally using for music, playing pinball web browsing, texting, calling, doing math, and exercising
They've added ECG a couple days ago in the US.
so did I!
Does the ecg works with non samsung mobile ?
@@pangali_vlogs from what I know requires Samsung Health Monitor app which is only available on Samsung
They should add EKG

Biggest frustration: The price 😒
For sure
Thoroughly agree
Not for me.
Yup along with the battery life and shitsby
You can pay like £12 a month for it
Overall I think smart watches are still couple generations behind a level of usability people expect from them.
Couldn't agree more. I think reviewers sometimes overlook where we are in terms of embedded SOCs. I'm not an expert but that 8gb of storage might be a technical limitation. A nand flash module is like 1/3 the size of the watch lol. I am not super surprised that they cannot fit more.
For me the most appealing reasons to have a smartwatch would be the customised faces and listening to music while exercising without phone. But necessity to charge it almost daily and very limited storage just kills the hype for me completely.
@@GamingNightError hey I did have a gen 1 apple watch. You should give it a try. The 1 day battery life is sort of exaggerated. Just charge it when you are sleeping or even in small bursts when you're in the office or whatever. Don't let that stop you. If you think you might be the type give it a shot. Texts on your wrist is way underrated
@@magellan124 I don't understand how apple watch gen 1 addresses anything I've just wrote about what I would expect from smartwatch.
You've just described the very problem of every smartwatch. It works only in the very specific setting for very specific set of users who can find charging spots anywhere they turn around.
Any scenario where electricity supply is limited aka camping, long travel, remote place visits and necessity to prioritise battery level of your phone turns your smartwatch into a dead weight.
And I'm sorry to say that but unlike iPhone, apple's watches are just plain ugly.
I would rather go with regular watch and old iPod.
Truth - While we can fit plenty of technology in a small 1 x 0.25 inch watchface... Just as a smartphone is not capable of exceeding a full gaming laptop/desktop PC, smartwatches have significant limitation.
Combine the hardware limitations with the fact that most consumers are obsessed with phones because of RUclips or Social Media... A small screen on a watch, despite portability, will not surpass the phone until they come up something like a powerful projector onto your clothes, wall, etc. or holographic imaging (which we are likely a decade away from individual user technology).
The best thing about smartwatches are the fitness features, the ability to play music without your phone, and the ability to pay digitally by touch. It will never surpass a phone until more features are available.
Presently, I've been waiting to buy a smartwatch that can be enabled as a mobile hotspot so I can use it for a tablet/laptop without an LTE chipset. A truly mobile hotspot capability. It would kill the battery quickly, but that's what wireless charging and portable chargers are for. I thought the Galaxy Watch 3 had this capability, but considering I've seen zero mention of it anywhere - I'm not going to trust the random posts on forums.
On that note, any of you actually have the Watch 3 that can confirm a mobile hotspot setting?
The price is the biggest problem, the gear S3 frontier was £250, and this is now £400. It isn't justifiable as they are basically the same!
You can add google assistant to the galaxy watch 3 it’s just a little bit of a process but worth it at the end
Explain please
@@scaryskeleton0857 hi, I found a video on RUclips explaining how to do it. If you follow the steps correctly it will set up fine, I did a step wrong, this made it take longer but got there in the end. Google assistant in the watch does not support trying to make calls and text so I use Bixby for that.
Whattttt that is awesome.
You're right and it's great to have it for general stuff and Bixby for the smart home stuff! 👍
@@oldie-worldie Yes, it's well worth doing. 👍

I just bought Galaxy watch 3, its actually very nice to see on my arm. Feel very premium and does a lot. I surprised when I tried the sleep tracking. It was very accurate. But I wish samsung will Update with ecg and blood monitoring system and need more utility apps.
I love your videos.
I don't comment enough about them, but it is your videos that helped me decide to buy my Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2.
And for that, I thank you.
Please continue making these videos.
Rep counting is awesome to have during bench press or deadlifts. I use it all the time on my galaxy watch 1. And I've ordered the 3
The Amazfit Pace watch is my current watch...8 to 10 day battery...for a non-athelete, who wants a simple watch with alarms, notifications, calendar, etc. The color LCD screen always makes it visible in sunlight. If it had bluetooth phone calling, it would be awesome. I'll wait. :D
I have the 45mm mystic black. The call quality and speaker is amazing!
Does it connect to Spotify?

Thanks for the review - very helpful! Its great to see your opinions after a month, so it's actually had a fair amount of use rather than straight out of the box.
Just upgraded to a Samsung S21 and am looking to ditch my old Fitbit which I've had for a good 5 years now, figured this would be a good compatible choice.
I do intend on using this as a fitness tracker so your points from that perspective are very helpful to me.

Keep on doing this good videos. They are very informative and it's nice to have a one month review.
BTW, you can side load the ECG and Blood Pressure monitor app onto the watch. It is a separate app from the health one and has a separate phone companion app. Does not require root or any modding. Takes about 5 minutes. Blood Pressure feature needs to calibrated with a standard monitor and is custom to you and your particular wrist.
How do u do that?
The leather strap gets pretty funky over time. I also wear the watch on the inside of my wrist when exercising for a more accurate HRM. Overall rating - pretty good for workout stats and classic look for when you're not.
What do you mean by "funky"? Does it get gross? Stained? Or just softer like used leather usually does?

Two things i need from any watch...phone free podcast player and mapmyrun app , which means GPS for my run. Does this have that. I have heard this has no podcast player that works
A very useful review! Thank you! Yes, Samsung promised they would add the blood pressure option, but it's still not there. Anyway, measuring the blood pressure with a smart watch is not reliable. In general, the measurement of blood pressure with wrist blood pressure monitors is not reliable. So it's not a big loss 🙂
You work hard buddy ,you deserve more
Thanks!
The camera and color grading. 🤯 wow. What lens?
I just bought one. SO EXCITED!!!
Blood pressure and ECG is available. If it's not in your region all you need to do is download the apk and boom you have it. Tutorials on youtube
officially it is not out in EU which is quite frustrating, especially they promised it for watch active 2 over a year ago..
@@alihorda you can still get it now and use it as normal . It's as easy and downloading the samsung health APK and done. Do you want a link to the tutorial on youtube?
@@tomgjonaj9965 I know there are work around but I don't want to risk ruining my watch lol, also I would expect Samsung to roll out its promises in time.. shame
@@alihorda it's not a work around, you just install the apk on your phone and that's it. Not need to do anything to the watch. O risk
measuring the blood pressure with a smart watch is not reliable. In general, the measurement of blood pressure with wrist blood pressure monitors is not reliable.
I know that the ECG features are now starting to go live since you recorded this video, but you must remember it's not Samsung that delays these features it's down to the regulatory health standards agencies of various countries to approve the use of these sensors. Some drag their heels more than others.
I have got google assist on our GW3 regular and titanium version. Maybe it is different in Europe. 👍✌️
Not here in the uk
I am a senior now and the most important things to me on the watch are the Sleep app, and the health and heart rate apps. I do love all the fancy fun stuff too, but my sleep and heart monitor is the most important. What are maybe 3 top picks I should look into.? Thank you. James in Texas
Thanks for this great overview of the watch! Really understandable and useful. You are the best Tech blogger, whom I've ever seen
Thanks! Good info. I just bought my first smart-watch and trying to get used to all the features and how best to optimize my watch. Much appreciated!
Just got mines.Awesome watch
I have the galaxy watch 3 and it’s replaced my Apple Watch and my traditional watches
I love this watch!
Works perfect with my iPhone
With my Gear S3 Frontier I only put the Samsung Pay pin in once when I first put the watch on and it doesn't require it again until I remove the watch, plus I have MST payment support.
I don't use the fitness functions at all.
I answer phone calls, text, check emails, get weather and package alerts Etc...
For my needs, I can't see any reason to upgrade, besides, personally I don't like the large buttons.
That's a shame too because I was ready to pair the watch 3 with the Z Fold 2 I just pre-ordered.
Great Video as always!
I'm hoping they decide to add MST support again on a future version. I absolutely loved that feature and even bought two S3 Classics (the first one got water damage and it was cheaper to buy a used Model on Amazon)
I love my Galaxy Watch 3. The blood oxygen feature is cool. It would be sweet if you could access more apps such as web browsers, snapchat, Facebook, etc. It just provides you with the notification, but then you have to view it on your phone....that's my only complaint
You can use the internet browser and add a widget with bookmarks for FB, YT, etc.
Download samsung web on your watch

@@timfagan816 going back to a non flagship absolutely sucks man.
@@sagunmdr tell me about it man. I hate how slow this phone is, I can feel my beard growing as it's trying to load or process stuff. Over than that, this phone can do one when I get my flagship back.
Metal straps are best. They're versatile. You can get them wet, work out in them and still be elegant when you're going out. Yea the silicone ones are a bit more comfortable when working out, but they're ugly af! Leather is the best looking but you cant get them wet. Metal is the most versatile and middle of the ground.
Came here cause I got one with my z fold 2 and wanted to see if it was any good. Great review my dude

You're really good at reviews! I always have liked the 1 month later reviews more than unboxing and specs also, but without being bias, you are straight to the point, you cover everything, and you don't get too deep or lost on one subject. Keep doing what you're doing, you've got my subscription.
I love my 45mm. Fitness apps and the general aesthetic is amazing. Like Mike said though I wish it had more apps.

I bought mine on a trade in deal with Samsung, trade in my Gear S3 for $160 off list for the Watch 3 and I now have a Samsung Watch 3 on my wrist, mystic silver. Happy so far with it, the extra storage is a major plus along with the return of the rotary dial
Such an amazing watch. This video explains it very well.
So erm... ECG is now out 3 months later, and if you get the leather, you can buy a 20mm or 22mm strap (Depending on your watch size, for an example I got a 20mm because I had the 41mm watch. If you have the 45mm, you must get the 22mm watch bands.)

Was searching around for some reviews on a watch. Walking away with a new subscription for tech reviews. Good review.
I like your flowing no non sense reviews
Mike, what would be your 2nd choice (you mentioned this was your 1st choice right now)?
Complaining about "only" 8 GB of internal storage in 2020 was pure whining. I don't think there were pretty much any smartwatches with more than 8 GB of storage except maybe the newest Apple watch. Absolute majority of people never fills even 4 GB on their watch, manufacturers know very well how people use their products and there was simply no need for more storage. It's just like with phone memory, in 2019 the S10+ shipped with up to 1TB internal + 1TB microSD storage, but people didn't even use it which is why in 2020 and forward Samsung ditched enormously large internal storage and sticked to 256 GB internal memory in flagships.
exactly what i said when he said that
Can u pls list out the best smart watches right now in the market.. thanks in advance🙂
Just bought active 2, if you don't mind having a rotating bezel and 4gb storage, active 2 is the best bet, on a corporate discount of samsung website you will be getting the LTE version for 23.5k and can add an extra leather strap for 400Rs. If you are looking for Active 2 lte with steel the price is at 25k along with the strap offer. The prices which I stated here are with 10% cashback on HDFC card.
Important factors to consider, the only difference between active 2 and watch 3 is
1) Internal storage.
2) Rotating bezel.
3) Spo2 sensor on watch 3.
4) LTE version of active 2 has more Ram than the Watch 3 RAM.
5) Both of them comes with same Exynos processor.
So for me Active 2 at a decent price is more sensible, as I can further customize it with 20mm straps and various accessories.
@@edgarmolinalomeli4767 Great! Thanks for letting me know, M not aware of that, maybe it's time for Samsung to enable in my region.

How accurate are they in opinion?

I love my galaxy watch 3. I was a little turned off that it didn't have ecg and blood pressure monitoring buy I'm pretty confident that samsung will come out with those features soon. All smartwatches are too fitness focused.
Yup, I could care less about my oxygen level and all that crap. Ditch Bixby and give me google.
Well, they're useless for everything else
That's what fat people say
@Amusis I would use it to check messages and small things when my phone isn't close. It also looks very nice. They should make a "style edition" without all the fitness stuff
@ Yea, what does a watch do pfft... tell the time. Thats what watches are for you idiot
Whats the purpose of the regular galaxy watch series and the active series. It seems they both do the exact same thing.
Initially the Active series was born to be focused on the work out, fitness etc. Then Samsung released after few months the Active 2 which included the Galaxy watch features to the Active 1, but it has been just a market strategy
This is my favorite smart watch that I own myself personally but I must say I'm not a big fan of the operating system and that I can only get two days out of the battery if they can make it last a week and run watch OS I'll be happy with the Google Assistant Bixby isn't helpful at all.
Why would you have more photos on the smart watch?
The rep tracking...ugh
I used mine for sit-ups, 35 reps later it counted 4 😐
I don't see a BP option as it would be incredibly difficult to ensure a tight fit as required to get proper reading. I'm really debating on this original or the titanium 3.
Hey Mike, love your videos! Quick question: are there any features that do not work as well or are non-functional when using a non-samsung android phone? I'm really interested in the watch, but I want to know what drawbacks it may have. Thanks!

That feels like a big scam over here and I wish there was a way to throw the GWA2 in Mr. Samsungs face and get your money back.
For everyone who hates bixby and uses a lot of Alexa equipped products there's a Alexa app in the Galaxy app store. I believe it's 2 dollars but well worth it. I can literally start my car from my watch and anything in my house connected to Alexa. 👌🏾👍🏾 There is also a modified app to enable ECG and blood pressure app, it's on the XDA developers forum but hopefully Samsung will officially release it soon in the U.S.
