      @@litoornelas6409 ATP will not accept me as i am to big. 6ft 6. 300 lbs. I found a local school in dallas a coworker of mine goes to. Same airplanes ATP has but they said as long as i fit in the airplane i was good. And since my hight and weight are vertical and not wide i fit just fine with room to spare. Also i am just outside the Bravo airspace of Dallas so it is cheaper. Since all the schools at addison have to come the the airport i go to school. which wastes training time and money. I am right there so instead of getting only 20 min of training before having to go back to Addison i can get a full hr or 2 in and then i can go home. Once i get as far as i can with this local school. I will switch over to Thrust Flight to finish the rest of the ratings.
      I should have done this from the start but you need to shop around your area for a good school. Lots of bad schools out there but there are some good ones who will not charge you as much and will not force you to quit your job so you can train as much or as little as you want. Myself i am lucky i work 4 - hr days each week and get 4 days off. The school i go to is open 7 days a week so i got my loan for school (half of what atp was wanting and inwill get almost all of my ratings) so i can fly 3 days a week (weather permiting) every week. So i should get thru the training as fast as ATP but on my achedule while still keeping my full time job and benefits. Cause lets face bills do not stop coming in just cause you are at school.
      I am not knocking ATP. They seem like a good school but the have a height and weight restriction that not all shcools have. If they would have accpeted me i would be there right now. But they did not and in the miltary they teach to keep fighting forbwhat you want so i kept looking for school that would train me and i found several.

    Hey Micah, thanks for the info! I'm considering attending ATP, it's 1.5 hrs away from me, I'm debating on the commute but after a month of school, is the commute still okay for u? Based on studying, hrs u have to be at school, etc.

    • @pilot_micah
      @pilot_micah  5 лет назад +2

      Priscilla1988 honestly the hour drive I have to do back and forth everyday is really not that bad. However, 1.5 May be pushing it a little, you gotta think that’s 3 hours taken out of your day 5-6 time a week for just driving. But on the flip side if your living at home and are able to save rent money from it then it may be a necessary trade off. It is for me. You typically wanna be at the ATP building as much as you can to study and learn from other people it hugely helps everything and will make you a better pilot. How that helps.

    Great video man, just saw a couple of your other videos on ATP. I was in the military, and I’m currently a licensed aircraft mechanic and would really like to attend ATP in the near future. My question to you is, how difficult would it be to balance work and school? I’ve seen on the website that they don’t recommend that you do both at the same time. Thanks for your help.

    • @pilot_micah
      @pilot_micah  4 года назад +1

      Lawrence Logaglio pretty hard to be honest, doing the atp program is almost like a full time job. The training needs to be your main focus, at most you’d be able to work once or twice a week and that’s usually on the weekends.

My question is do you think it's going to be possible to work and still go to school if i have the flexibility from work, but do you think its possible? I'm sure its a GRIND, but curious on your input! Thanks for the vids and detailed info!

    If you make a financing video can you talk about if they use the gi bill? I can’t seem to find any info on it

    • @pilot_micah
      @pilot_micah  5 лет назад +1

      twostrokes4life I can’t say this with full confidence because I am not in the military and have no experience with the GI bill, but from what I’ve heard is that you cannot. The reason being is that the GI bill can only be used for flight school if it is in connection with a university. So if you were to go to for example embry riddle and get a 4-year degree/flight school together, and since ATP is not a university the GI Bill would not be applicable. However, it wouldn’t hurt to call atp and ask, they are super helpful and would probably have a better answer than me. Hope that helps

    I have the microsoft sim at home with the oculus 2 vr, and it's actually pretty close to flying a real plane, but that red bird sim is 🔥 too bad the location I'm going to doesn't have it 😥
