Thanks for this informative video! I plan on touring the Daytona location and going on a discovery flight next year, and hopefully starting officially sometime around October 21.' I already accepted a post-graduate internship this fall with Marriott, so I will just enjoy that obligation and use the year to save up as much money as possible for flight school. Though watching your videos definitely gives me the itch to kind of just go to ATP as soon as possible! Good luck with your program!

I also just want to say that I’m going to be starting ATP next year to become a pilot. I’m 21 and got my cdl license as soon as I could and I’m trucking for a year and saving every penny to go towards flight school. Please keep making videos on your journey through it, they’re exactly what I need.

How is the Jacksonville location?
I just submitted my Sallie Mae , awaiting approval and have already completed an introductory flight with a friend CFI of mine . I have my First class medical and completed a FAA free ground prep course . Its a lot to digest even for someone with a Bachelors like myself whom played D1 football. I can imagine the rigor it takes for both are analogous but let me not get ahead of myself . That being said you sir have by far the most cotherent detailed account of what ATP training entails and what the realties are not the pamphlet explanation. Not just what happens during the academy but extracurricular details , like time for a part time job the logistics of how the flow of things work in contrast to having a life lmao. Lastly you spoke candidly and not discouraging . Most vids are flashy with “top ten reasons…” , or pilots giving accounts of personal experiences (good and bad). They’re well meaning vids but seem more personal than what any particular individuals experience will actually consist of . Simply put this was unbiased straight to the point and selfless . Keep doing you man . Pending my app im restless to get started flying and learn something new everyday. Thank you for this !

when it comes to paying for the program. Do you think taking 80K+ to finish the program worth it?
You may or may not see this but does every student get those two days off a week even if they aren’t working? I feel like for me personally I do learn best when I get a minute to stop and recharge/spend time with friends and family and then jump back in

Thanks for the great info about the program! Is ground school teaching after every flight or a few times a week at a set schedule?
There’s a little bit of ground before and after each flight, more so briefing. There’s usually a few grounds a week depending on your needs.
How far out in advance do they give you your schedule?
I’m interested in enrolling at ATP but I have some questions. How is the dorms there? What is the average tuition? Are the professors or instructors good? And can you apply for scholarships? Thank you for answering these questions for me.
I'm considering ATP myself, you've mentioned you live in Orlando, I see that they have an Orlando campus, why did you choose the Daytona location?
Kyle Cox the Orlando location opened up a while after I had already started, so at the time Daytona was the closest.

Nope just took them all as I went through the program. Doesn’t hurt to get ahead tho!
I currently work a position in the steel mill in Weirton West Virginia near Pittsburgh. I would like to consider training for this profession but I work 12-hour turns.
So quit! I'm quiting my job after 11 years of working in the Carpenters union in NYC my base salary is 130k without o.t. unfortunately I found out about the piloting life late into my 20's and didn't start till my 30's so I never saved for it. But I'm all in! 117k student loan, mortgage, care taker the whole nine. Cutting it close but more reasons than excuses 💪✌

Have you looked at the Orlando Location?
I talked to the APT school today they said the financing would also pay for all your bills. But man idk imma trucker. Im 28 could be making close to 70k later this year. Being a local driver. I got about 5 years of experience. But I think flying would be cool to do though. Been thinking about it 🤔
Do you typically have weekends off for family or relationship time? My closest ATP location is around three hours away, I plan to start mid summer just trying to get an idea of how often I could expect to see my girlfriend lol.
Do you plan on commuting or moving there? And typically most people don’t fly on Sunday, but if you want the weekends off you definitely could work that out with your instructor. Just as long as you’re getting at least 3 flights in a week.
Micah Wade I would definitely have to move there, the commute would be entirely too much.

Great stuff yet again Micah. Im starting on the 20th of April but due to the recent outbreak my Kore Aviation headset (same as yours) wont be arriving until 5/4/20. Are there any loaner sets available at the school until mine comes in?
Ash Fered that’s awesome man, which location? Usually they have a few spare headsets at the training flights, they may or may not let you use them I’d just check with your instructor when you get assigned one. Good luck tho!
@@pilot_micah Thanks man. I appreciate the response. I'm starting at LGB! I was able to bargain a avcomm ac-200 on Offerup for 30 bucks!! Hope it all works good mean time i get my actual set. I will save it as a back up/for my girlfriend when we fly.
So how well would this work if you already have full-time job and are 2 hours from the closest location
ATP doesn't want their students to work while they're in the program.

Try to do both! It'll take younger and cost a little more, checkout the Flex program on their website (PS he answered this question on this video)

They have different programs, atp is a part 61 school so it's structural to be flexible.

Yes you can, just have to cover them up.
Sounds cool. Too bad you have to be rich to go, and have rich people credit to get approved for a loan of 100k. I’ve been declined on every loan even though me and a co-signer both have good credit and have 700+ scores each. I want to start this program desperately, but looks like it won’t be possible, so that’s neat.
