India's the wildcard of musical virtuosity. They have that unique background that doesn't quite correlate with our 12 note system along with unique rhythms.. the good thing about our interconnected times is the blending of all these different styles.
No no there is a twelve note system here but also different one from it. And the twelve note system difference in the way of singing
@@20worldw Well now, but isn't indian classical music a different type of notation? I mean here too we have half sharps and stuff I just feel like indian music is more known for using those types of melodys.
@@jeffstarrunner1 yes you are right, But I highly doubt that todays musicians (who are into western rock/pop) are totally aware of those! Those are kind of niche in here as well! Although you are right about the blending of genres and styles.
@@jeffstarrunner1 Yes but the notes are not absolute but relative. So C# lies in a particular range of frequencies and D will have the subsequent range, but here that frequency can be represented by any of the notes and the other subsequent frequency range will become the next relative note in the sequence.

I’ve been a fan of indian classical music and the fusion formed as early as 1976 with John McLaughlins Shakti band. Their style and technique is 2nd to none. Study indian classical for a day or two and you’ll know why. Their rhythm system Konokol is the best. Their melodies come from ragas which deeply subtle and complex and very exotic.
That young playing the chick Corea track is amazing.
Oh course The young lady Mohini Dey is amazing too.
John McLaughlin suggested 20+ years ago that we should watch asia esp india for the best music arising from the planet in future.
Exotic? Damn, that sounds weird. Why’d you use that word? Scarborough Fair is based on raaga Bhimpalasi. Doesn’t sound exotic to me.

I thought he was going with the cliched Punjabi riff-route when his homage started. But with dat Tool's 46 & 2 interlude though - it gave me unexpected goosebumps. Given that Danny Crey incorporates tablas in Tool's stuff too, I can see how the pieces fit - no, 'I know the pieces fit'!
Yeah. Danny plays all kind of styles. He sits in with a lot of Jazz bands also. Still takes lessons in other styles and techniques. That’s a true musician. Knowing they can still learn more no matter how great they are. Edit: I’m pretty sure I heard a reactor to Pneuma Danny Carey drum cam say that the two tone tablas on his kit, that Danny helped design them. Not sure how true that is.
