To be fair, most of their songs are one long bass solo. The other musicians being so amazing also sometimes makes it hard to pay attention to just the bass though even though the bass is definitely up in the mix.
And transcends completely the "I flex my bass" format by making it a collective ! It multiplies the value of all these guys filming themselves playing alone, it's really interesting.
Wow, that was so insane. I can't pick a winner, aside from Ayumu who's in another league from everyone and it's not fair to compare him to anyone else, but aside from him, I loved all of them equally. Each person brought a wonderful unique style and really just proved them all to be world-class.
@@sycorax7365 bro the tone was great, it wasnt the sound it was the style he was playing that made it not sound like a bass. The strumming of a bass always kind of bothered me lol

This is the first video ive seen of yours Davie504, but i must say this is one of the coolest videos ive ever seen. The fact that you included each of the bassist you were prospecting to battle was amazing and unexpected.
He's the best internet bassist I've found (besides Davie, but you know Davie is the whole package) I used to watch his covers of impossible songs that he made harder somehow and couldn't believe what I was seeing!
They were alright... But I honestly couldn't care less about a bunch of amateurs that sound very similar to each other. Really preferred the better videos showcasing other guitar and bass RUclipsrs.
I'm speechless. So many talented and skilled people from the other side of the planet. Japan is a definitively an amazing country. Thank you Mr. Davie.
Surprise, they basically invented or improved at least 90% of the things you use daily. Japan is a rare breed, we dont have many giver countries, most are takers.
Let me once again say thank you for including me to the video with wonderful members this time. It was such a enjoyable experience. Again, thank you very much for inviting me to your project this time!
@@lpi3 Understanding it isn't too hard most of the time, but learning to speak it is a major pain, also because when you try even if you say the right thing the right way, you still get "Nani?!" with surprised Pikachu face, because they don't expect it. I mostly don't now, they speak to me in Japanese and I answer in a mix of English and Japanese that makes the surprised look not feel out of place 😆. I've settled to my 'role' as the Gaijin that doesn't mind if someone forgets to switch from Japanese to 'English'. Just to "frame" this, my ex wife is Japanese, my son is half, I've been to Japan many times and get around fine there. But I'm blonde and 6'1" so I don't exactly fit in.
Thank you for showcasing our Japanese Bass Goddess, the Barefoot Assassin, MISA of Band-Maid. Even though thanks to copyright (and because her true solos tend to be short) you were only able to show her a little.
@@Jason31256 They don't get to that level because of mentality/method/resources(including time), not some "talent" myth. What's called "talent" is most times a (big?) starting lead (learning at early ages, "childhood geniuses") or minor surpassable body advantages
@@paperIrori Yeah, I seen a video about Irish Trad music, and I mention it because they have to jam together without knowing what the other will play. But they showed how you start learning. You basically pick up the instrument, and start. No reading sheets, no music theory, just they play a note, and you have to try replicate it, they sit there until you find it, then they play another. Eventually they can just play whatever they hear, and play whatever they hum even if they dont know what the notes are called. Obviously if you have long fingers youre gonna get advantages at some instruments, and even short fingers can be an advantage on others, big lungs for wind instruments etc, but I believe they like to start on a tin whistle, and believe anyone can start doing it at any age.
One of the coolest jam session I've ever heard! Most importantly the showcasing of people's talent from other culture & promoting their channel, passion for their art! Thank you Davie504 =)
That was an awesome video. I've heard of Band Maid and it's such a shame that they didn't have enough coverage on this video. But this does not take away the skills of the other Japanese bass players. They are so awesome that I feel like taking out my bass guitar and jam.
That bass battle vs Mina is so good. Sounds like many references to Japanese songs were made. Then the jam comes in. Ayumu is super underrated, glad to see him getting the spotlight here. The rest are really good too especially Pinkhage. That solo from him was so beautiful.

And transcends completely the "I flex my bass" format by making it a collective ! It multiplies the value of all these guys filming themselves playing alone, it's really interesting.
Is 550k followers on TikTok "small"?
More of thisssss!!!
@@jodyb1095 one of the players in the battle had less than 1k followers
@@JJames666male that's wild to think you could be that talented with so few followers
Wow, that was so insane. I can't pick a winner, aside from Ayumu who's in another league from everyone and it's not fair to compare him to anyone else, but aside from him, I loved all of them equally. Each person brought a wonderful unique style and really just proved them all to be world-class.
This is the best jam you’ve ever published. Beautiful playing and beautifully mixed. A true milestone, davie504!
Agreed! This was the best competition yet.
This must be my favorite video, honestly.
The Ayumu's part of the battle is so beautiful, but all the other are amazing, I loved each one.
Mina is such a monster player. She's graduated from playing just chops. Her melodies and musical decisions are so mature.
There also name pinyo kinyo who also monster on Bass playing, especially when she bring CSM soundtrack
Mina is also the bass guitarist in a band called 'Girlfriend' yiu guys might like to check...
@@khopawangnao4134 i love girlfriend....long time fan...sadly watch them disintegrate...sad too..their last album Full House was a masterpeice
8:43 that's so sublime I've never imagine bass could sound like that
Sounds more like a guitar to me. Especially with all the strumming mixed with the tapping. It still sounded nice though no doubt.
*cough* insert joke about 7 8 and 9 string super downtuned djent guitars *cough cough*
anonymous stout you must’ve never listened to Jaco Pastorius then
@@HoopsRaccoon i think most dingwalls sounds like that lol
@@sycorax7365 bro the tone was great, it wasnt the sound it was the style he was playing that made it not sound like a bass. The strumming of a bass always kind of bothered me lol
I love how you amplify the talents of others. Such a hero in music community. Keep spreading the love.
God that Bass jam at the end was one of the most incredible pieces of music... absolutely brilliant
What an amazing jam!!! I love Mina's style. Her fashion style - impeccable, her playing - outstanding!!
I agree totally, and it's all the more amazing that she rips the F out of that bass without breaking a sweat or abandoning her super-cute kawaii demeanor. She maintains the attitude of a sweet little girl petting a kitten in her lap!
@@j3ffn4v4rr0 came long way since her early band days. She used to play with this blank/cold expression that I thought 'so this one is the ice queen of the group huh'
How in the world did I get here -- I don't ever listen to bass, but this was awesome :) Well done to all players!
LOL me too! Dunno how I got here and know nothing about music, but am glad I did.
you were meant to be here.this is an amazing channel to raise bass conciousness.
Man I'm sayin😅
I actually have played bass, nowhere as good as these players though, my true instrument is the guitar but great content Davie
Wise choice. SLAP like now though, or Davie will call the police ...
8:31 I see everyone is also mesmerized by Ayumu's playing....
yep. Its so clean. The harmonics are beautiful.
I don't actually know how he can slide on the strings like he does without failing notes
Legit was taken aback when that part came up, never heard anything like that on bass before.
I felt the exact same way I had felt when I saw Tim Henson in Jared Dines Biggest Shred collab, I mean nothing too overloaded, just pure viruosity and technical things which sounded spectacular
that was some of the sweetest sounding, relaxing, amazing to watch, bass playing improvs I've seen...really really good stuff!
MISA MISA MISA I was so happy to see MISA of Band-Maid! there is no way Davie504 can stop MISA and Band-Maid from World Domination! I wish you found better clip of MISA but i'm very happy you gave a shout out to Band-Maid, the best hard rock band on the planet
Davie504 should just listen to Blooming.
@@erikhai1 Davey504 should just let MISA slap him. I know I would ;) .
Let's calm down with the best rock band on the planet, and just appreciate they're very good and getting better lol. I do encourage anyone to check them out if they haven't and see if you can't stop smiling

@@erikhai1 Or the battles she has with Kanami on songs like "Don't you tell me" and "Real Existence".
I love how Davie promotes others musicians and youtubers that loves bass like him. Its great
Mina's smile and technique makes it look easy. Amazing players both of you.
Indeed! I can't really tell who has the most skill, but Mina sure does seem at ease while playing. Acting lessons?
Davie had a smile too, just that his is inverted :/
Mina-san is The best of Japan Girl Bassist, she's JROCK Band bassist@GIRLFRIEND,of course amazing,ha ha
This is the first video ive seen of yours Davie504, but i must say this is one of the coolest videos ive ever seen. The fact that you included each of the bassist you were prospecting to battle was amazing and unexpected.
that bassline at 8:45 is literally one of the most beautiful lines ive ever heard.
Right?!
Funny, I had the exact same reaction. It was the best part of a really fun video!
He's the best internet bassist I've found (besides Davie, but you know Davie is the whole package)
I used to watch his covers of impossible songs that he made harder somehow and couldn't believe what I was seeing!
That end clip with the compilation of all the bassist and the backbeat was the biggest vibe of the MONTH for me. Bravo to everyone.
MAN THE BASS BATTLE WAS EPICCCC!!! i could listen to it forever and still wouldn't get boredd, the melody is beautiful
Thanks!
Holy shit, what a great episode. Those Japanese bassists really did kick the fucking jam.
They were alright... But I honestly couldn't care less about a bunch of amateurs that sound very similar to each other. Really preferred the better videos showcasing other guitar and bass RUclipsrs.
@@σεα-ψ9ε if that base players name aint Larry Graham I ain't impressed
I'm speechless. So many talented and skilled people from the other side of the planet. Japan is a definitively an amazing country. Thank you Mr. Davie.
Surprise, they basically invented or improved at least 90% of the things you use daily. Japan is a rare breed, we dont have many giver countries, most are takers.
@@BatLB yet they struggle a lot it’s very sad
he forgot Gacharic Spin's bassist F Chopper Koga (Michiko Koga). she's excellent.
Not related to Japan, but Dusty Hill passed away today. He was the bass player for ZZ Top. Rest in peace!

that bass battle left earth a desolate wasteland of bass.
As an amateur bassist I gotta say this video is definitely fuel to inspire me to continue to learn the bass. Thanks for the great video.
I dunno. I prefer to learn japanese
@@lpi3 not bassed 🗿👎🏻
Epic! Love Japan! People there have a true and beautiful appreciation of music and art. 💙

Thank you for showcasing our Japanese Bass Goddess, the Barefoot Assassin, MISA of Band-Maid. Even though thanks to copyright (and because her true solos tend to be short) you were only able to show her a little.
That was quite an enjoyable "session" to watch... lots of attitude, confidence and TALENT :-)
Good lord what a massive amount of talent in this video. I loved how well all of the last players flowed together
its hard work not talent
@@Crazynoisynight yes, hard work leads to being a talented played. Noone picks anything up and is that good without lots and lots of practice.
@@Crazynoisynight Yeah but some can practice their whole life and still won't get to that level

Dude. The jam session at the end gave me fucking goosebumps. Never heard Bass played like this before… amazing.
I AM TOTALLY SPEECHLESS!!!! The talent in this video. OMG!!!
That bass battle vs Mina is so good. Sounds like many references to Japanese songs were made. Then the jam comes in. Ayumu is super underrated, glad to see him getting the spotlight here. The rest are really good too especially Pinkhage. That solo from him was so beautiful.
amazing, I need a loop of this battle
That mina_gf_band looks so at ease while playing like she's just combing her hair or something, damn!
@Nathan Duggan no, I also think she is playing at 0.75 or something and then speeding it up.
@Nathan Duggan 100% sped up video, but I think the audio is played normal speed and dubbed over
No, she plays like that in her band Girlfriend. That's the GF part in her Tiktok name stands for.
@@MarkAndreYapching I haven't seen any other videos of her, but actually my opinion comes from the movement of clothing, hair, and general body motions.
its not sped up, there was a video where she played next to a clock
Brilliant. Music joining hands across time zones, cultures, languages. Technical skills off the scale from all concerned. Uplifting.
Incredible bassists out there. PinkHage really touched that old school soul in me. All solos were amazing but this one talked to me more
