you should've looked into the way the tololoche, a Mexican variant of an upright bass, is being used in the corridos tumbados genre (Peso Pluma). Specially the slapping technique they are using. The genre is low-key filled with incredibly talented instrumentalists that are casually bringing highly technical execution to very mainstream music. It's as if rap was being led behind the scenes by jazz drummers, it's that crazy, I swear.
Tololoche players are crazy skilled. That seems to be the way with folk musicians all around the world really and some of them use very limited instrument (two strings and one is a drone ... but then they play some hugely complicated lick.
Dude yes I was thinking the same thing. And they slap it in 3/4

Abraham Laboriel is considered for many like the best bassist in the planet, his son is the drummer of Paul McCartney backband.
After Geddie Lee....
Geddy Lee was good but definitely not as good as Tetsuo Sakurai.
Again though, skill doesn't matter; are you a good fit for the song or not?
@Jreb1865
Indeed, I highly recommend bass walk
Pardon me, the son is the drummer of Paul Mcarthy backhand?
@@jorgezuniga6561 that's right, great drummer BTW
Pinche Davie! I did not know that Italianos had such great sense of humor! Really great video. I came because of Ale, which she is one of the best. The others impressed me also. BTW, loved the new song you composed. Slap you later!
They have a better sense of humor than the Spaniards...
So excited to find you today. Thanks for this video! BASS ON!
That bass Ale (The Warning) is playing is her very own signature bass.
Spector?
@@zeusapollo8688Yes
@@zeusapollo8688yes and custom designed by her with their artisans when she was 14yo, i believe, and she received it finally at age 15. Unusual body wood and the finish is actually named “Ale’s Inferno” (her nickname is Ale (AH-leh)), and you can get any custom Spector in that finish now. She was their youngest signature artist and first Latin American artist
@@zeusapollo8688Yes-Custom signature model known as “Alé’s Inferno”
I noticed there is some confusion around this, that bass isn't her signature model bass, it only has her signature finish called "Ale's Inferno". It's an NS5-XL model that is custom tailored, she worked together with Spector for customization, the finish is one of the things, there's other stuff like the materials used, redwood at the back to make it lighter, custom inlays with the band logo, etc. You can see that on Digital Tour Bus - Gear Masters episode with her, Dany and Pau also did theirs. There is an actual signature model bass, but that was limited production given away to some fans at meets & greets, and it's a 4-string bass inspired by the custom 5-string one.
Here in Mexico we also have the tololoche, a double bass esque instrument used in mexican folk music and used For pizzicato and slaping.

Shout out to Abraham Laboriel! The most underrated bass player yet one of the most successful in history. Responsible for many techniques many use today including the double dumb slap, and his very acoustic way of speaking through the bass. He’s mainly known for his recordings with integrity music but hes recorded with Quincy Jones and his old band “Koinonia”.
I love the solo he does in Ancient of Days when he was playing with Ron Konoly
After all those decades, his solo on 'Valentine' from the 1983 Koinonia album 'More Than a Feelin'' is still in my personal top 10 list of bass solos...

Tiago Andree hits my personal taste best: just love to listen his playing ❤ Due to being fan of the bands Robert Trujillo played for, I am glad he made it to the video despite being American: his presence on stage ranges from being the teamplayer in the background to extreme dominant and powerful tank. Thanks for adding hin too.
I clicked on this video to see the brunette beauty from The Warning. Must say though, that Tiago Amdree was my favorite. Bad ass sound he had going, now im going to look for some of his video's. Thanks.
Just learned that Abe Laboriel's son, Abe Laboriel, Jr., is Sir Paul McCartney's drummer since 2002. In other words, the bassist's son is a drummer for the former Beatles and Wings bassist! What's even better is that Davie is clearly watching a performance that features both the father and son together!
I think he even played for Michael Jackson
Glad to see this post is so high on the comment list.
Junior has played with _"everyone"_ !
Eric Clapton, Lady GaGa, Fiona Apple, Steve Winwood, Kelly Clarkson, and so many more.
He's one of the most dependable concert drummers working today.
His dad's pretty good too. (That's a joke).
Great to see them on stage together.
🥁🤘
I was looking for this comment
Don't forget his brother, Johny Laboriel, the most famous one here in Mexico.
Abe Laboriel Jr. was already a great player when he attended Berklee way back in the early 90’s. He’s Abe’s Sr.’s drummer in the clip
an absolute delight to see you hearing El cascabel guitarrón in action!! guitarrón is such a wonderful instrument! the fretless part of a classic bass, but with the style of an acoustic instrument! Absolutely honoring and wonderful exposure of our music!
And is hard to play 😵💫
Right now the tololoche is making a comeback. It's the smaller Spanish cousin of the English double bass and uses thick nylon strings and slaps SO HARD. Fuerza Regida has one.
I'm also "Mexicanian" and I loved the video. Great sense of humor. Looking by the hue of the image, it looks like you didn't leave Mexico, perhaps wanted to eat some tacos? Yeah although we'd love to call Rob Trujillo "Mexicanian", I have to be realistic and say he's "Americanian" ;-) Born and raised in California, although his grandfather (I think) was "Mexicanian". He can't speak Spanish, which you could hear in the Orgullo, Pasión y Gloria concert in Mexico City. But love him too. Ale from The Warning, well I love The Warning. Great to see the other, great players. Abraham Laboriel is the brother of Johnny Laboriel, also very famous in Mexico. Thanks for the video!
So happy the algorithm brought you bacK!!! Amazing video

I discovered this band about a month ago and straight away booked a ticket for a concert 27.04 for 23£. 2 weeks later price was 130. Now no tickets left 😂. It will be my first concert in 25 years and all of the young ladies from The Warning deserve the same amount of respect. They all are great musicians, composers, performers and still are so humble and lovely. So glad they grew up with the music I love and continue to make 21st century version of it.
Pretty sure the price you were looking at later was for VIP ticket, those cost around 120 euros depending which country. The GA ones are always very affordable, between 20-30ish euros.
@@FrankyPi Those tickets were the only available later. Don't know if they're VIP but know one thing I was lucky haha :-)

I met Abraham Laboriel in the US after his packed concert while he was touring with Integrity Music around 1994 and it was a story I will never forget.
My friend won tickets to the concert off the radio which included a meet and greet with fellow band mate singer and songwriter Don Moen. After the concert we didn't really want to leave what we had experienced and went down below the stadium where the band was going and were allowed in to the dining hall with the band which would normally never happen but God opened that door for us. We had such a good time listening to the conversations these musicians had with each other and couldn't believe what we were experiencing. The band it turned out had been invited by an up and coming band that was performing at a church nearby but did t have a ride there. We told them we could take them! They said yes and on the way there with Abraham Laboriel, Ron Kenoly, and Don Moen in the car, I mentioned that Abraham did not perform his famous bass solo in “Ancient of Days” the way it was recorded in the studio. Ron then said "yeah everyone knows that solo and you did it differently.". Abraham was surprised and he said, "I did?". Then all of us in unison began to sing his bass solo to him and it was soooo funny. One of the most unforgettable times in my life. My friend and I still look at each other in disbelief that that might actually happened.
I love your proof of Ale slapping with a single perfect thumb attack lolol, awesome. When she was like 11 years old she was slapping classic funk grooves full on, in videos, as well as playing jazz lead lines, but she went the rock direction.
Seeing her slapping in their new music would just about make my head explode (especially after watching the picking in HYCAD !!)
I laughed at that part just one slap and approved. 🤣🤣🤣
She went rock because she doesn’t have the talent to play the other stuff correctly or in time.
