For someone who claims she doesn't like to talk much she certainly has the gift of the gab. Mohini is such an incredibly gifted and talented musician. I really appreciate that in spite of her incredible facility that what motivates her is melody, soul, feel, and groove.
It is so refreshing to see an Indian girl (or any person for that matter) in her 20s know who Mark King and Level 42 are. By the way, Mark King is an amazing vocalist too. Rick, love that you are putting a spotlight on musicians of different generations. Nicely done.
What a great, magnificant, gifted and blessed musician. She is so beautiful. I thought she was from Africa. She is also very beautiful. ❤. Her father did great job with her. I truely and dearly celebrate her father. Man I m speechless.
I've followed Mohini for a few years and this interview is the best I've ever seen with her, and possibly the best on your channel. What an absolute delight it was to watch! I almost teared up at one point. I've always seen music as a means to "save the world". It's the perfect language to build connection, bridges and share feelings. So when she said "I see music as one", that's when I lost it a little. :)
Definitely the greatest interview and most fantastic personality and accomplished bassist I have had the pleasure of "seeing" and hearing in my 62 years of playing music. Mohini you're a genius! With the heart of a nemesis....you're simply beautiful 🎉
My impression of Mohini has skyrocketed! The story of her father was so compelling and heart-warming. Hope she gets all the very best in life, playing with the biggest talents, and success with her bands! Thank you Rick, as usual, you're awesome!
It sounds like her mom and dad come from a different, more advanced planet of geniuses, not regular humans, because this young lady is so smart and talented, and it sounds like her father taught her very well. So talented and I love her positivity, ambition, and beautiful, beeming smile when she's showing Rick her ideas and thought process.
What an awesome interview Rick. What a phenomenal young talent in Mohini. Where have I been? She is unbelievably talented and wise beyond her years. This video's description says "...redefining the boundaries of bass playing". After watching this video, that almost sounds like an understatement. New influences and directions like this are what become the stuff of legend.
Thank you for doing this interview, Rick. Mohini's head is so very much in the right place. Her statement 'blah, blah, blah, whatever..." She is so in the moment she doesnt even realise how flipping amazing she is. She's just sharing her talent and is loving it. I have never heard Rick so quiet and so engaged. This is her presense. No pretence, no ego. Just pure talent and enjoyment. What an absolute beautiful and talented being.
I have NEVER heard of this treasure. Thank you again for the opportunity to learn of Mohini, her talent, her culture and her life.. wonderful interview.again, Rick.
This woman is a breath of fresh air… she’s just an absolute beautiful person with pure talent. Great video.
She's from my native state. She inspired thousands of guitar player. As a guitarist I am also big fan of her. Keep going girl and Thank you man for inviting her 🎉❤
which state?
@@sarfarazhussain5411 it's in the video. West Bengal.
ভালো লাগে শুনতে 😍
Trying to figure out her ethnicity.

Fantastic interview.
It is rare to hear an artist be so honest, and one understands that we are dealing with a human being with a beautiful soul.
Never heard of her, although I know several of the people she has played with, but she is clearly one of the best bass players in the world.
She has a LOT of energy. Certainly a lot more than me at that age. And much more talent too ... and actually much more than me at my present age.
I wish her a great and happy life.
she is unbelievable. am sure her Dad is watching from above and beyond proud.
Not just unbelievable, but also inevitable!!! True and Amazing.
So sorry - her Dad passed??
@@meredithheath5272 it's in the interview
she oozes enthusiasm for life. what a delightful young lady and a brilliant musician
Most interesting interview I've seen in a long time. Mohini is just so far ahead of everybody else. She is talented, intelligent, and humorous beyond measure!!!
Even more impressive than her skill level on the bass is her beautiful personality and intellect. What a wonderful young lady.
It's lovely to see Rick almost have a father-daughter moment with Mohini when she is talking about her own dad's passing. Rick is such a nice soul!
Wish Mohini & Rick all the success in the world!
I’m so glad that I bumped into this interview randomly. This girl is a solid gold.
Absolutely incredible interview. I found Mohini by sheer accident on Facebook reels. Within 30 seconds I was scrounging the internet and Instagram to understand more about this phenomenon musician. The bass world is in really good hands
This lady is absolutely amazing. Her talent, experiences, enthusiasm, knowledge, upbringing, understanding, insight, gratitude … just outstanding. Great interview!
For someone who claims she doesn't like to talk much she certainly has the gift of the gab. Mohini is such an incredibly gifted and talented musician. I really appreciate that in spite of her incredible facility that what motivates her is melody, soul, feel, and groove.
She is nerding over her love and passion, THE music, of course she is talking
What an incredibly talented and charming woman she is. Also, her attitude and work ethic are glowing. Great interview.
I just met the artist Mohini Dey Hartsuch . . . life changing. Thank you Rick and Mohini
Another KILLER interview Rick!!! She's a ray of sunshine!
It is so refreshing to see an Indian girl (or any person for that matter) in her 20s know who Mark King and Level 42 are. By the way, Mark King is an amazing vocalist too. Rick, love that you are putting a spotlight on musicians of different generations. Nicely done.
I found it a but disturbing. I'm not trashing level 42, but it sounds like the taste of her father not her.
@neilsherman3483 Disturbing?? If she did get her music taste from her parents is that not pretty normal? 💀
Her Dad (God rest his soul) really shaped her exposure earlier on
You're so right! Mark sung a bunch of world hits. He is a great singer! 🤩
Never heard of Mohini, but I just became a fan. Thank you Rick for this interview. Amazing musician and lovely soul!
A Millennium soul ☺️🙏 Mind blown by her soul, depth & application can't help Loving her ❤
Thank goodness for these RUclips videos that, for some reason, stream in front of us, while we even view other subjects. ❤
My impression of Mohini has skyrocketed! The story of her father was so compelling and heart-warming. Hope she gets all the very best in life, playing with the biggest talents, and success with her bands! Thank you Rick, as usual, you're awesome!
The father did invest a lot. It was basically an all-in so glad it worked out for him/her.
She is unlimited - beautiful energy, vast knowledge and amazing command of the instrument. Thank you Rick for such a good interview.
I saw her in a A R Rehman concert and since then I have been following her music. She is exceptional. Great interview! Thank you Rick!
Intelligent, articulate, engaging, both speaking and playing. What a fun interview to hear.
Wow,.. What a Force, I couldn't keep up to her at 10y.o.
This put a smile on my face! She is incredible!
What an awesome interview Rick. What a phenomenal young talent in Mohini. Where have I been? She is unbelievably talented and wise beyond her years. I am 69 years old and grew up in the beginning stages of fusion. I hear a few artists in this young lady’s playing. She would fit in any genre that she found herself in. WOW 🔥🔥🔥. God bless her father for guiding her and instilling all the necessary values for her to be successful. Also, her mother for holding down the house. Having amazing and loving parents are such a blessing to have in your life. May God bless her in all of her business endeavors. Rick, again, you killed this interview. God bless you as well
She’s great. Not only a great player but has real charisma about her too. Earned herself a new fan here.
Rick I have never seen you enjoy an interview like this before !!!! She's got everything.. philosophy direction passion imagination honesty progress articulation and also I think she figured out how to play the bass
Absolutely - well said!
Never heard of Mohini Dey ..and im speechless of her talent and personality !!! Respect
I can't remember enjoying such a long interview so much, I was captivated. What a wonderful woman, smart, funny, intelligent, erudite, generous with her praise, and multi-talented; and Rick, what a great interviewer.
wow!!!.....I mean; how does one comment after that? it was so voluminous, I'm still aghast at her gift, her talent, her genius. Thank you, excellent interview, and you were not interruptible at all.....great job.
Wow. She's amazing. Her enthusiasm for her instrument and music is so refreshing.
I like how she rates Mark King because I love Level 42.
Me too, huge 42 fan here!
@@fragwagon Me too! Huge Level 42 fan since 1985! Love that she gave props to Mark King.
That was awesome :)
I hadn't listened to Level 42 in so many years and just went back last weekend. Classic stuff.
Mark King is an incredible bassist. Folks like Mark (and Mohini) make playing such a complex bass look like it would be easy. Trust me, it is *NOT AT ALL* easy. : )
She is so articulate and very knowledgeable at such a young age. Kiss the ground your father walks on. What an incredible teacher you had. 👏 🎸🎼❤ AMAZING!!!
I love everything about this, but what I love most of all is the smile that completely takes over her face as soon as she starts playing.
I already knew she was an amazing world-class bassist. But I'm so pleased to see how classy, smart, well-spoken and impressive she is as a person.
I wanted to take a nap just from hearing her describe all the different ventures she's involved in.
This is one of the most beautiful and exciting interviews made with a musician !
My respect for Mohini and Rick
She is so awesome! Skilled, charismatic, knowledgeable, passionate, articulate, and full of life!
This girl has a great attitude and a great sound!!! Love her!!! Keep on rocking!!!!
Waited for this. Bass goddess came down from heaven to show us pure genius, personal strength, intelligence and gentleness. Such delight to watch this lady and imagine how much work she spent to get where she is right now. Absolutely stunning and always a ray of light to see young artists like her in this sometimes mad world. Most moving her reflection on her fathers much too early passing away - makes our hearts open up to her.
Much respect to Mohinis father. Imagine his pride after decades of hard work teaching his daughter. May he rest in peace. Amazing job.
Sorry - I've just heard of her - just this minute - then to see, in the comments, her Dad passed..😢
I cannot even imagine the amount of practice and hard work she must have done to achieve the perfection she exudes so confidently. A really good interview.
watching this again and the part where she is walking us through her pedal board. The range of grooves and genres she plays in that short period just showcases what a genius she is!!
Young, vibrant, creative, dedicated very talented musician of this century a Bass guitarist that’s Lady is Mohini of India whose bass playing sounds like she has brought a great fusion of eastern and western music that sounds really exciting and good to hear for ears always rejoiced her playing and admired her actually she deserves an international recognition in this instrument playing ! Thank you much keep it up dear
“Both sides”, hahaha. Great interview. Rick, you get nothing but admiration from me, no matter what you do. Mohini was so brilliant and expressive as an artist and in her openness and cogent delivery. So funny she says ”I don’t like to talk”, because she did that a lot but in an informative and wonderful way. You were great to not only understand what she was saying, ask the great questions, and then get out of the way for the answers. I will be following her. You, I have nothing but respect and admiration for.
I‘m shocked by how easily she expresses her artistry and how she’s radiating pure life and joy. Thank you for sharing this interview ❤
What a powerhouse! I love to hear about all the other (non-music and music-adjacent) things she does in addition to shredding on the bass. Yay!
Thank you Rick for interviewing her! I’m a Bengali from India as well and very proud of her achievements as a terrific bass player!
What a force this young woman is!
Contrary to common belief, India has a long tradition of fantastic female sitar players and musicians.
I could listen to 24 hours of this.
She sounds fascinating. Her playing is out of this world.
....... This is what brilliance looks/sounds like. I especially liked the story of her parents.
She was clearly born with musical inclination, that along with her thousands of hours of practice and intelligence, made her a music machine!
Her energy is infectious! Somebody gotta get her in for a biopic. Her early life story is ripe for a movie! 😅
And loooove hearing about music from less "conventional" perspectives like the traditional instruments/music from India.
Such a wonderful interview! I´m so glad you took the time to let her talk at lenght.
What a beautiful interview she did. Being legend she is so simple and humble. She is inspiration. Great respect 👏
okay, her tone is PHENOMENAL, one of the fullest, best bass sounds i've ever heard.. and the playing is obviously incredible, but what impresses me the most is how it's not just easy to her but she's having sooo much FUN!! :D her smile is infectious, what an inspiration!! i'm gonna go practice!!
What a story!
Love Mohini and her sister Esani.
Finally you are in the US!
All the best!
The honesty talking about her music, her family, her life is so refreshing and charismatic WOW
She has a smile that would light up not just a room but an auditorium.😁 She makes me happy just watching and listenting to her. If smiling was a talent she would win all the awards.
She’s genius and the way he interviews is terrific❤
Unfreakin believable Rick. What an AWESOME interview and what an AWESOME person & player she is. This was a real treat to watch! This is the first i've heard of her, but i'm a fan now! Thx Rick!
What a brilliant, engaging, beautiful, accomplished young woman. And a fabulous bass player 🌺 Aloha from Hawai’i.
This video's description says "...redefining the boundaries of bass playing". After watching this video, that almost sounds like an understatement. New influences and directions like this are what become the stuff of legend.
Great interview......I'm in Atlanta and am looking forward to seeing Mohini wherever she may be performing.
What a lovely soul! Great interview, thanx Rick!
Thank you for doing this interview, Rick. Mohini's head is so very much in the right place. Her spirit is on point and it's so very refreshing, as well as faith building in the younger generation's musicality. She is a bright light in the fog of technical wizardry mired in creative mediocrity. She gets it.
I know nothing about music but this interview is very very inspiring. What a person she is!!! Thank you very much for this interview Rick.
Mohini is amazing! My granddaughter took up bass a couple yrs ago, and, one of the first bass players I sent her was Mohini. What an inspiration! Great hang, Rick👏😁.
What a talented yet humble young lady, amazing talent. I enjoyed every minute of her interview, I know Barbados would love her to visit, hopefully one of these days.
Brilliant interview. We can feel & hear her joy. Mesmerising talent. Discipline + talent = Magic.
Thank you.
Talent+Right Practice often = Mastery
Rick Beato is just hitting out of the park left and right. This is legit one of the best music-related channels in YT.
