Great contributions and a very good choice for first prize .. it was definitely the most surprising and as you say her parts definitely played perfectly into yours... like she was "in the band" .. the objective of any session player.
All the entries were super impressive. I struggle to pick a favorite! Happy to see Laytar win, though. She's been a staple of excellent musicianship on lots of Charles's collabs. Congrats! Well deserved.
I love how triple camera guy played your piece in reverse!! Totally see why you gave it to the girl in acoustic guitar that was definitely the best guitar line anyone could of done for your bass line..another perfect BATTLE vid ty Charles absolutely loved it!!

This is the most bass jamming I've heard that reminded me of Victor Wooten but leaving enough space between 512th notes to be actually heard. And so many players doing it so well. What a great contest. Thanks to all the players who participated.
Thanks for the contest, I was a 50's 60's 4 string bass player in a rock and roll band then off to Viet Nam playing fantail music on the Bon Homme Richard, the Currituck and The USS Hollister. My 4 string Danelectro accompanied me from Cranston R.I. to California and The Phillipines to The south China sea and back to Long Beach California, JP3
Charles is awesome. He somehow found his prominent niche in the memetastic technical fivemillionnotespersecond RUclips gig, but still blends in musicality, dynamics and great feeling. And he rewards those same qualities with his winner pick. Let's keep bringing back real musicianship into glorified dexterity exercises.
My favourite was laytar for that incredibly intricate interleaving with Charles' part, and also the amazingly clean harmonics. Mind-blowing and just on another level. My 2nd fav probably Ruido the backwards part was very cool and very clever and original. Plus his video timing and acting matched Charles' so well.

I was just like a lot of you at first thinking “why would you not pick someone playing a bass??” But I came around with thinking about “maybe they’re not playing a bass because they don’t have one.” Most of the great bass players we saw...had great basses. They don’t need another one. If you see her thankful comment, it makes sense to give it to her.

Some of those bass players look like they already had basses that were beyond the quality of the Schecter being given away. The gal on guitar did a super job, but can probably most benefit from getting the Schecter bass since she perhaps doesn't have a dedicated bass yet. As far as need goes, the guy with the home modified bass that looks like a crazy Steinberger copy might be number two most appreciative. Anyway, CB's contest and his picks. Amusing video.

I'm glad Laytar won - I have followed you both on YT for quite a while, and I commented on her channel that I hoped that she'd win. Loved this competition.
I could not agree more. Laytar managed to bring a very pleasant melody, using complicated techniques but accessible to the ear. It is as if she had taken the lead from the bass, but without taking its place from it.
The girl was fantastic and I would love to hear more of this with you two playing together. I have no musical ability and I am tone deff so watching these musicians play so wonderfully is a treat.
I didn't even finish watching before I made my choice but I totally agree. she had so much talent in such a short video and I personally want to see many more videos from her.
I may be wrong(usually am) but pretty sure you meant to clock in 4:53, is precisely where she won this contest. That hanging harmonic she placed over what Chuck was riffing at that very moment just crumbled everything else in this video to dust. Prior to that I was trying to decide between Enrico & Tiago and just couldn't stick with a pick between the two. I also LOVED Jeremie's vibe and glide performance, but cringed at the distortion and poor sound quality I was hearing it through. As a trained audio engineer, that kind of thing just puckers my schphincter, and I start looking for a toilet thinking my bowels are about to let loose, lol. Anyways, what's a vibraphonist gonna do with that Schecter? Mane Bass played quite well but had sound quality issues as Chuck B mentioned. Mishka played even better, unfortunately had even worse tone/sound quality. Peter had better sound on his totally dope custom guitar, and did really listen and respond well to Chachi's parts. Ruido(?) gave a rad performance and played that reverse lick after telegraphing what he was about to do, like Lou Gehrig, or was it Hank Aaron stepping to the plate and pointing to the fence right before corking the next pitch right over it for the walk-off HR. So much Epic stuff crammed into ten minutes right here, I can hear 504 crying from here, lol. 😐🤨🤔🤫😬
She was my favorite too and I think she totally deserved to win! I liked the harmony of you too : ) Thank you for making this video! You are one of the best guitar players I ever heard. I like not only the way you are playing, buy also the fact that in your videos you are just yourself. Stay awesome and natural! : )
This channel is amazing .. what a great idea, a wonderful way to showcase some incredible talent. The musicianship and sheer creativity displayed here leaves this old fart totally jazzed and looking forward to seeing and hearing more. Keep it up and best wishes to every musician out there.
More than anyone else, I really got the sense that she was playing WITH you. Anyone listening to those two tracks would think you were in the same room. Impressive.
I have no business calling myself a bass player after watching all these talented people playing. I have the Schecter SLS Evil Twin 5 and it feels incredible. Love that bass.
What I love about your channel is that you’re promoting a gathering of phenomenal talent- all wanting to share in a non threatening arena - it’s such a great way to promote musical excellence- I feel like we’re hitting another renaissance time period or something!
Tiago was the winner to my ears. A couple were just (too much noise too fast) to hear the distinct tones of the bass. Tiago, Jeremie, Peter, and Laytar sounded like your long-time jam session partners. Just great. (This from the untrained ear of a non-musician, so YMMV.) Fun contest, Charles. Kudos.
I wish I could disagree with the top 10, but damn they're good!! But I'll make it to the list some day, mark my words 😬 Seriously tho, congrats to the top 10 (and everyone who participated, actually) Back to practice now 💪🏼
Congratulations to the winner and all who participated! Still waiting for Charles' comment in my entry, just to get some feedback... Any chance this can still happen? 😬
It just astounds me the level of playing from so many very gifted players who have certainly put in the hours and hours of effort and sore fingers and thumb!. A Great Watch.
It's crazy to me to see how much the bass guitar has evolved in my lifetime. Although I can't play like any of that, I'm still doing fine and have been playing since 1983. Thank you for showcasing everyone in here. They're all fantastic and you're a virtuoso on the bass.

Yeah dude, always nice to not be able to pick who is lead in a band, and that not be an issue in any way *8 )
I’’m SPAZZED ! That was the best ! Congrats to all who entered !!
The girl was fantastic and I would love to hear more of this with you two playing together. I have no musical ability and I am tone deff so watching these musicians play so wonderfully is a treat.
4:35 she was so on point and just pure vibe I would say she deserves everything. best sound and tone and vibe.
😐🤨🤔🤫😬
I think this is the best one so far ... Great work. All the people are clearly outstanding...bravo !!!
When you have one girl in the contest but the title includes "SHE"....I wonder who wins??????
did not pay attention until now
These days, with political correctness, you can never be sure...
That is really a legit question. I don't have a clue. Will have to wait until he reveals the winner after tons of suspense in the end.
and she’s in the thumbnail lmao
one girl in the contest but the title includes "She"? Hm...maybe the winner was Davie504. Idk
She was my favorite too and I think she totally deserved to win! I liked the harmony of you too : )
Thank you for making this video! You are one of the best guitar players I ever heard. I like not only the way you are playing, buy also the fact that in your videos you are just yourself. Stay awesome and natural! : )
Some great players for sure. I too think she had a uniqueness in style and played off your playing which made it more musical to me. Good choice
I can't imagine having to pick one out of the lot. Such amazing musical talent!!
Tiago is my favorite! 🦎
This channel is amazing .. what a great idea, a wonderful way to showcase some incredible talent. The musicianship and sheer creativity displayed here leaves this old fart totally jazzed and looking forward to seeing and hearing more. Keep it up and best wishes to every musician out there.
Congrats to the top 10 and to Laytar! You guys were all incredible!
More than anyone else, I really got the sense that she was playing WITH you. Anyone listening to those two tracks would think you were in the same room. Impressive.
Thanks!
**US$5.00** Thanks!
im always amazed by the talent you seem to bring out in your audience!
Tiago was hands down the best imo. Cool vid and great playing.
She earned it big time! Sad Charles had only one base to give. The contestants are amazing.
The last one. So magical!! I played it sooo many times. LOVED IT
Tiago was the winner to my ears. Kudos.
I’ve watched Tiago’s like 10 times and still don’t understand 🤯
Absolutely crushed it.
You are a musician by heart. I would put money on you having a natural talent if you took the time out to learn a few lessons
Yes thought so too.
Peter and Tiago were definitely top two.
I had a feeling you'd pick her but she is very impressive. She'll go far
Everyone had amazing talent . Congrats to the winner
I wish I could disagree with the top 10, but damn they're good!!
But I'll make it to the list some day, mark my words 😬
Seriously tho, congrats to the top 10 (and everyone who participated, actually)
Back to practice now 💪🏼
Congratulations to the winner and all who participated!
Still waiting for Charles' comment in my entry, just to get some feedback... Any chance this can still happen? 😬
I hope so! Still waiting for Charles' comment on mine too, but mine was a bit of a prank. I'll check out yours now!
It just astounds me the level of playing from so many very gifted players who have certainly put in the hours and hours of effort and sore fingers and thumb!. A Great Watch.
Laytar was beautiful, different and so on point.
Loved Peter Luha!!
Enrico showed great finesse mirroring chops.
And the winner is... "so musical and impressive at the same time" and also to get her address and telephone number :-) Nice video!
It's crazy to me to see how much the bass guitar has evolved in my lifetime. Although I can't play like any of that, I'm still doing fine and have been playing since 1983. Thank you for showcasing everyone in here. They're all fantastic and you're a virtuoso on the bass.
All I can say is that I'm glad I didn't have to pick! Great work all of you!
The title kinda spoiled the outcome... Not that I'm complaining, massive congrats to all who entered!
That's kind of Charles thing

I agree with your choice. What a pleasure to play with someone so talented and yet so sensitive to the melody. Music is always about melody and harmony.
The moment I saw her video a few days ago I knew she was going to win, it was my favourite video of them all, amazing playing.
same
