Gabriel's was my favorite. Might've not been the most technical, but it was definitely the most musical. Loved the way he synced with the horns and drums too.
Wow, I can't beleive i actually made it 🤩🤩. I feel really really happy to have obtained the first place, I wasn't sure I was among the best because there were really spectacular musicians participating!!❤❤ I thank all of you for showing your affection and a very special thanks to Charles Berthoud, Charles you are the best bassist on the world, you are a great idol for me and a great inspiration to keep improving, I really appreciate this very much!! Thank you so much!!❤🙏🙏
It is important to note that Tiago Andree is currently the best Mexican bass player, in my opinion he is also one of the best in the world, he is only 18 years old, and the most impressive thing: he has only been studying music for 6 years. He is a true virtuoso and absolutely deserving of first place in this contest.
Thank you Charles, I can't wait to try out those strings! It was a great experience - you inspired me to write this piece and I got to find out about other great bass players. Congratulations to Tiago, he obviously deserved the first place the most, and congratulations to Gab Slap as well! Most importantly, I'm glad people enjoyed our work. Thank you, everyone!
Yours was my favorite solo by far, Tiago was very impressive but your solo was so damn creative and non traditional, it really blew me away, keep up the good work
I listened, then re-listened, then wrote each player down, then ranked them. You came #1 for FLAWLESS, SEAMLESS transition of 'technique' which meant you were playing MUSIC NOT TRICKS. But then, my friend, you really don't need a new bass but everyone can use strings and GHS is my favorite and they don't even pay me. I'm glad you posted here so I can check out the rest of your channel. I see you're from Georgia - so, ya'll is from the South? That din't sound like country music....

Winner was INSANE that’s not even fair. How the hell can you simultaneously harmonise with yourself at blazing fast speeds with such perfect timing. For any guitar player out there just try playing with your other hand and you’ll soon discover your practically a beginner again. Absolutely mind blowing. That guy has got to be a robot or something
Mishka was insane! In the short time he had he made a complete song with introduction, development of a chord progressions with melodic lines on top and an ending. His bass lines create an harmonic structure and at the same time different melodic voices. It's like an epic story told in a very short span!
@cesarherediaaquirre4419 - Well said! I thought it was a bit bizarre that Charles commented that he would have liked to hear more space in Mishka's piece; yet, the piece he chose for first place was pretty much an incessant onslaught from start to finish. Tiago's technical mastery is beyond question, but there's more to music than virtuosity. I can imagine Mishka's piece being expanded into an orchestrated symphonic work. It's a Berthoud-caliber composition.
The most incredible thing of all is that Tiago Andree is undoubtedly one of the best bass players today, but when he plays the guitar he can beat any guitarist in any technique and style, he is one of those prodigies that appear every many years.
Man, Thiago really is a force of nature. He's got absolutely unmatched precision, and having gone through around half of his videos, I'm pretty convinced that he's a solid cut above any other bassist I've ever seen. Even Victor Wooten seems kinda wooden by comparison. In a way, he's done the impossible. He's made me and Davie504 peers. 🤣🤣🤣
Not impressed... He had his feet completely free doing nothing the whole time, he could have used his toes for a few chords in the background or something... Very disappointed... xD
Thanks again for doing this challenge it was super fun to participate with others! My favourite solo was Mishka's because I've never seen anyone play Harmonics like he does. Congrats to Tiago!
HOLY GUACAMOLE. The last time I was so astounded was when I saw discovered Charles thanks to Davie504's that Fiverr video. Now I've discovered Tiago thanks to Charles. And I'm absolutely GOBSMACKED. Subscribing immediately.
Tiago is a true virtuoso, at the level of the best in the world and also one of the most underrated bass players on YT, in this contest Tiago had the merged powers of Messi and Ronaldo playing against a third division team, he won by a landslide
Tiago Andree’s composition was absolutely mindblowing but the slap part really sealed the deal for me, I find it absolutely mind boggling how something can sound that clean and fast and the tone was just flawless. I'm gonna practise so damn much the rest of my weeks off good god I want to be just a tiny part of as good as that was.
Marco Zarco is awesome as always. Loop connection was excellent with the synth sound, and the Pianist was excellent. So many great musicians this time.
Charles, you did not let your youtube channel be all about you only, but you generously allowed other good players to be featured too. This spoke volumes about what a great guy you are and how you respect good players.
Brilliant, loved them all, the 3 winners were also my favourites, I can't get my head round how hard it is to play 2 instruments, one the opposite way round, wow!! Thank you all
Well, I think I'm done processing it, wow! I never thought I would be in such a high place, there was too much competition. I have to confess that when I saw Mishka in 3rd place, what little hope I had of getting a podium place dropped to 0%. There was too much competition, and I didn't even have time to do anything elaborate because of all the time my university thesis was consuming hehe (sorry for my sleepy face and poor video quality 😢). But I do not know what to say. Once again, thank you so much Charles for all the inspiration you provide, you have always motivated me to continue with music and bass. Thiago, my greatest congratulations, I'm afraid that one day you'll come with an alien invasion because we all know that you're not from this world man haha. Thank you very much to everyone who participated and those who were in the top, always the competition and your creativity inspires me to continue learning 💪❤️
Charles, thanks for including me along with this incredible group of musicians! And I really enjoyed watching a bunch of video entries from so many creative and talented players!
I feel like a Charles collab/contest video would not be complete without one of your awesomely unique solos. It’s exciting to see what instrument you’re gonna play!
My personal favorites: 1) Thiago - Incredibly technical and badass that it’s on two instruments. 2) Gabriel - My favorite composition. Love the power chords incorporated into it. 3) Mishka - Incredibly technical. Love the harmonics he did. A little more space would’ve made it even better.
A lot of great ones. I'd consider for next time having a special non-bass category that could receive a prize. I really dug that synth sax, for example.
I think of one big plus in Gab's solo - the structure. He divided it to different parts and passed smoothly between them. That, in my opinion, made it very listenable. I enjoyed it.
Nice. I thought that Tiago should've won the bass battle last year, so finally, he gets his due (with an even more epic solo than the one he played before). I do think bassists (and to a lesser extent, guitarists) have an advantage in this, because Charles knows the technical ins and outs extremely well, so he can easily tell how difficult something is, whereas like...who knows how hard it is to perfect the techniques present in the overtone flute solo? That solo may have been an even more impressive, epic and technical feat, but we'll never know, because it's so niche. The best a non-bassist/guitarist can do in a competition like this is to write an amazing solo, something that goes with the backing track and sounds extremely musical. But a bassist or guitarist can not only do that, they can show off their technique to a person who has gone down that same path and learned those same methodologies. It's not a fair fight.
THANK YOU for PRESENTING THE RESULTS! ( i been waiting curiously & long 4 that) AND CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINNERS AND TO EVERYONE GOT FEATURED IN THIS VIDEO!
Hello everyone, I am very happy to have participated in the contest, I really enjoyed Charles's comment about my "evil" touch and especially his face at the end of the solo, with that I already feel like a winner, congratulations to all the participants and especially all mishka that has impressed me with that original way of playing that he had in the solo, and Tiago... you're crazy dude 🤯😂😂

Yeah, I'd seen that Tiago solo previously, and my lower jaw was on the floor. The tightness there was almost like someone has synced things up in the studio. Amazing.
@@mikeg9b - That was my thought exactly as I watched and listened to Mishka's incredible solo: _"This is the kind of brilliantly innovative music I've come to expect from Charles!"_ It feels to me like Tiago simply outclassed everyone else with his indisputable technical virtuosity, and is really in a class by himself. Definitely Tiago's. That one is mindblowing🤯
Tiago. As you, he plays anything effortlessly. There must be 16 HR/day of practice

Tiago of course! man he went crazy!!
I think the first as it was raw yet technical. The winner was worthy. Have that level of control over two instruments and being that clear was amazing
