I'm 48, no musical background, I struggle with mild PTSD, excessive TBI, blast over pressure, concussive events...etc, etc, etc... symptoms from almost 20 yrs of military service....had a brush with music therapy in a TBI clinic to help me progress....always wanted to learn how to play the Bass Guitar, Primus, RHCP (FLEE) and funky Jazz lines hit me. I have found a new outlet and you sir, are an inspiration. Love watching all of your content...now I just need to buy a decent Bass. My son plays (regular) guitar and cant wait to surprise him at some point with a funky bass line one day while he is practicing. Keep CRUSHING it! Love watching the finger work you have!!!
Vic Wooten was with Bela Fleck at the first 'BayFest' in Mobile, AL, in 1995. I was right in front of the 1 ft. tall 'stage', about 3 ft. from Vic, and was AMAZED for their whole set!
I saw her a year and a half ago in Prague. Go see her live. I was blown away. She was so nice after the show as well. Signed stuff and talked to people.
andri riki - Just practice regularly, and I think you're ready for Wooten`s solos much much sooner, a few years should help my friend. Think how long Wooten has been playing, he has done nothing but play 👍👀
Without Davie Charles wouldn't be what he is today. He started pump content quite a lot after the initial kick boosted by Davies videos, which has really paid off

Hats off in admiration for the innovators playing their unique styles and expanding the world of bass, but I'm always blown away at how Charles seems to play a clearer, cleaner version. Charles, you are a monster talent and a pioneer the instrument of BASS. Eleven out of ten from me.
On one hand, he has the homefield advantage. It's his video, his studio, and you're comparing him to these older videos ripped from youtube or wherever else. On the other hand, Charles is an *incredible* bass player and producer, and better at sound engineering than some pro sound tech's I've seen. I don't know what black magic DAC he's got, but even the best audio equipment won't save you if you aren't also an amazingly clean musician.
As a musician myself, I can certainly appreciate the skill of great players like these… but I also temper it with the realization that most of the greatest songs ever composed were relatively simple. Food for thought… 👍🏻

Davies solo was my favorite. Sometimes letting that offbeat silence cement the funk is the best sound above how technical it is. Loved your interpretation of it too, your bass guitar always sounds so clean.

Charles knows his music, knows his audience, and is indeed a performer. But that smile in the middle of a groove - that's the real deal - no faking that. Slap on son.
Great technique, Fantastic technique, but more importantly and very pleasingly, you are very natural and practical in your presentation and dialogue that doesn't' frighten people away. Also, nice to see that British people can be ultra funky too. Love it.

Brother....I'm very impressed with every solo . I started at 15 with a f hole hollow body cheapo bass . Les really impressed me and I started slapping and popping....I think you could replace Les in a second . I want to know how you all do the low notes plus the 5th fret harmonics so cleanly! WOW! I've never seen that technique before. I would love to see a video just on that. Clearly there must be some kind of way to push down on the lower string while keeping that finger above where the harmonics need to be played. Just a fantastic video all the way around! I'm jealous: You get to show off some of our century's (and last century's) best bass players, then play their stuff, adding your own twist to them. Mad respect for all of you!

Take same amount of talent and put it into totally different circumstances and we’ve got you two. To me you sound the best when you play together.
