  • This video is the second part of ABS Module test and repair. In part 1 I explained how to test the ABS circuit, board and explained the ABS Module wiring and internal structure. I also explained how to test the ABS Module for Valve relay error fault or for ABS Motor Electrical fault.
    But in this video I will go further to explain how to test the MOSFETs and Solenoid valves inside the ABS Module. I also explain the difference between ABS and ESP/TCS in terms of internal structure and how to know the normal value for the components during the test.
    Part 1 of this video can be found in my channel or using the link below:

    I think these 2 videos go a long way to explaining the error codes in BMWs which a mechanic is never going to string together with an electronic fault. And just removing and replacing the large connector is a WORK AROUND which if it works is destined to fail again. So well done .

    Great instructional videos on ABS module operation and diagnosis. My question is, if you cut the plastic cover off then how do you ever re-use the module if it tests good? Seems like this is destructive testing? Good to know if you're just interested to see where your old module failed but not useful for actual repair correct?

      Hi there, of course we seal the cover back on, unless what’s the whole point of testing the unit? So, we must be very precise when removing the cover, then we seal it back on.

    Excellent video. What about when a component is faulty. I have an abs error code indicating a wheel speed sensor problem but everything is fine. The problem is probably within the abs module. The question is which faulty component of the module will keep the brakes locked on one side only when the abs light is lit and the brake pedal not depressed?

    • @AutomotiveDiagnosis
      @AutomotiveDiagnosis  9 месяцев назад

      Hi there, that problem could be coming from the ABS valves, but you need to check the brake caliper as well, sometimes brake piston or sliding pin is sticky.

    • @user-wd8kv9yf4c

    • @AutomotiveDiagnosis
      @AutomotiveDiagnosis  9 месяцев назад

      Hi there, thanks for your comment. This code is due to an internal failure on ABS Module, Sometimes it could be something we can find by checking all connections in the ABS module, but sometimes is coming from the main microprocessor which is hard to repair. So basically there could be different possible causes for each different case, and we can only be sure after inspecting the module carefully and thoroughly.

    • @AutomotiveDiagnosis
      @AutomotiveDiagnosis  Год назад

      I don't think that's ABS fault, if it is, it shows itself when you do the bleeding. Pedal is low, but how you feel the pedal?

    • @leethomas9198
      @leethomas9198 9 месяцев назад

      The low pedal position could be the end of the rod connected to brake pedal. Most Fords have an adjustable screw on end. I think it is a 7mm and you can lengthen it to cause pedal to react quicker.

    Great info. I have a 2013 Ducati Multistrada with bosch abs. I get a random """abs pressure sensor fault.: C1006, C1007""". Totally random sometimes not for hundreds of miles other times every 25? The fault resets when ignition is off / on. I have bled and flushed both front and rear many times with quality brake fluid. Abs operates when not faulted. When faulted the brakes are fine except no abs function. Ideas please. Thinking of pulling the module and checking solder joints. It seems like a bad connection due to the intermittent occurrence of the fault. Anyone having pressure errors faults ? All info I get is to replace module. Thanks in Advance. Cheers

      @@geodirecoes2778 When there is no communication, it could be power supply, ground or CAN-Bus problem. It's better to start from Power supply on ABS module, normally there are 2~3 power supply, one is for ABS motor, one is for ABS valves and the last one is for ABS control module, the last one is very important for the communication. If power is okay, find the pins for ground and inspect them. ABS connector also must be carefully checked for any dirt, moisture or looseness.

      Hi there, I didn’t quite get it. You mean ABS doesn’t communicate with scan tool or it doesn’t work with other control units?

    • @rogerbsp1
      @rogerbsp1 6 месяцев назад

      @@AutomotiveDiagnosis I was trying to connect the scanner directly to the abs module, but the communication was not working. I even tried with a 120 ohm resistor between the CAN H and CAN L lines, but it still didn't work. So I connected the injection module to the CAN H and CAN L line and this time I managed to communicate with the scanner.

    how can i fix, test or replace the pressure sensor? tks

    • @AutomotiveDiagnosis
      @AutomotiveDiagnosis  Год назад

      Hi there, Pressure sensor is the hardest one as it senses the pressure and gives it directly to ABS module, so the only section to check is the contact between the pressure sensor and ABS module. In most cases we have to replace the ABS module is case of having a faulty pressure sensor.
