  • Back in the highlands for my first visit to the River Spey and a new beat. Castle Grant Beat 3. Beat 3 is ideally located to ensure the best that the river has to offer. This superb fly water with a total of 5 named pools ensuring there is more then adequate fishing at different water levels for 4/5 rods per day. Exclusive double bank fishing in quiet tranquil surroundings.

Love the vids Chris. Would be really useful to know what the local campsite is and how you rate it. I don’t think anybody currently does this, certainly in the UK.

Hey Chris. Just to say I've been watching another of your videos ! I'm from Scotland and fellow salmon angler . With all due respect you will catch more fish if you stop letting your dog splash all the pools also your fishing too fast ! Slow it down if your catching trout the fly is fishing too fast bud

i was about to say the same, ive watched most of your videos, and especially for the Spring fishing, your always fishing the fly way too fast, your dragging the fly round way too fast. not mending the line to slow it down, and when you do you immediately pull your rod back downstream which speeds up the fly again, got to be SLOW in the spring. The Ghillie said to mend the line a couple of times, but you then drag it back round, try to slow the fly down.

Thanks for the advice, can you tell me what is the best way to do a mend? I never really sure if I am doing it right, I am still a novice so if you can suggest a video I could watch I would appreciate it? Thanks for supporting my videos, Chris

Hey Chris your casting is really good you just have to slow the fly down to as soon as it hits the water so its slow and at fishing depth straight away . Froden has a video for guideline that shows you how to fish the temple dog he explains it in a way you will understand easy. Use this concept for upstream/downstream mend but really you want the fly without a mend and fishing the swing straight away . Also try plastic tubes with no cone on your sink tip . You will catch more fish

You spend a lot of money to catch salmon chris so if you learn this you will catch more . Remember the river glass when you went through the pool then your mate caught a fish after you watch that video back at the speed of your fly then compare it to froden hooe you get some silver buddy im on the Tummel on Monday for 3 days so hope get a fish 😂😂😂 tight lines bud
