Just Discovered Des Taylor on here his voice is so soothing and knowledgeable never fished for Barbel but would want him with me, if nothing else I could listen to his stories all day long, fabulous!
I learnt to fish for Barbel following big Des on DVD many years ago. I caught big fish in rivers close to a city thanks to him. Follow this advice and you will catch great fish. What a guy
My god I haven't seen Des Taylor for years I'm so glad he's still fishing and making content. I've learned so much from him it's great to carry on learning. The man is a national treasure. 🙂
Great video. Brought back lots of memories of Severn and Teme fishing for barbel 30 years ago, before I emigrated to Canada ( for the fishing). Used to frequent Birmingham Anglers Association waters. Hope they still have them. Many thanks.
Had some good doubles by Ironbridge power station 20 plus years ago. Used to get large pike attacking the swimfeeders. Used to tie a treble to the feeder and use them as a lure. Down the river at 3 in the morning. Happy days😊😊😊😊
Fishing is a patient man (or woman's) sport. Folk need to slow down and enjoy observing the fish and wildlife. It's those that embrace the environment and think like our hunter ancestors that reap the rewards. Thoroughly enjoyed this video Des . Tight lines
Such a relaxing and informative video Des, your commentary and the knowledge you share is much appreciated. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.
Watching and listening to Des Taylor is always a great pleasure. It's funny to be German while all my favourite anglers are Britons. There must be a reason for that, and I think it's just the relaxed way of talking about fishing and not taking it deadly seriously.
@@Natureandfishing Thank you for asking. Well, yes, I live near Düsseldorf and we have the River Rhine and countless gravel pits with partially massive fish (carp, pike, tench, bream, catfish, sturgeon and so on). Barbels can be found in the River Rhine but it is a It is a large stream, and heavily optimised for shipping, so you have to come to terms with it. There aren't that many rivers like the Severn nearby. It would mean travelling hundreds kilometres to find similar conditions. I don't have the time to do so. That's also part of the appeal of watching British fishing videos. Despite the fact that the UK is also a densely populated country, you can obviously find spots that look very picturesque, at least in the videos. I was just fishing today in one of the syndicate lakes where I am a member and due to the quite cold water I could only catch one bream using "the method". I was secretly hoping for a carp but being realistic, I knew the chance would be rather small. Anyway, I didn't blank so it was a good day.
I didn’t think I’d ever stop fishing in the US, then a couple of years ago I suddenly lost my passion for it. Slowly getting back to it and this helps. Des makes it a sweet science again.
Des your vid's are not to bad seen afew on pike pro no your own n you are right on fishing it's brilliant but when you look around we can take for granted Gods character his creation just brilliant it all is ,thanks again for the video 👍🎣
G’day Des, thanks for presentation of the lure of nature and how fishing allows those who make the effort to be part of it. As a beginner I was trying to catch fish. Now many years later I am the one who has, fortunately, been caught by fishing and appreciate nature’s environs wherever I visit to fish, whether I land fish or dream about it. Regards, Gary from Oz
I'm a beginner Carp Angler (in experience only {Im 58 yrs old😉}) from the USA. I’ve heard your name (and references to your incredible angling history) mentioned on YT about a thousand times and finally came across one of your videos. I loved it! As you likely know, we don't have many (if any) professional/Legendary carp anglers over here. So I’m forced to live out my carp fishing dreams vicariously through many of the great Channels/Anglers I find on RUclips. You've now been added to my list👍 For certain, I'll be binge-watching as many of your videos as time allows. - Joe
WOW Des Taylor, I remember him back in the days, mid 90's when I started Carp fishing ... and the 1st video on carp fishing with him ... 👍👍👍 cheers from France
wonderful. Everyone can feel your love for nature and fishing. Breathtaking scenes. so much respect for the environment. Thanks. greetings from Germany
I used to love watching Rex Hunt Fishing Adventures during my childhood days and I just discovered your channel. You brought back the same memories and I daresay an even better educational experience!
Thanks Des absolutely loved this video and weirdly so scared of river fishing and not understanding what is needed but this video explains how easy and basic rules to implement and it shows that light tackle not tonnes of bait and a simple mornings fishing, can be so rewarding without all the expense and stress. Thanks
Very nice. Here in the outskirts of Madrid, Spain there are wonderful places to go fish, common carp, Royal carp, and barbel. Only I normally use a fly rod. Making flies for these fish is half the fun !!😊 Great video, a wonderful peaceful place to fish!
I enjoyed this a lot. your voice is so calm and easy to listen to. Beautiful river aswell. I fish for Barbel in the river Rhein in Germany....but i have to say i like your small river a lot more!!
Can just see my Dad and my Uncle Fred and Mr Taylor chewing the fat about the fishing they had done over the years, Des would be there friend for life and probably vice verse. RIP my Dad George and Uncle Fred.🫂🫂💙🍻
What a wonderful video, thoroughly enjoyed it. Never got the chance to fish the River Severn, but did catch Barbel on the Hampshire Avon to 9 lbs. Now live in New Zealand, so it’s mostly Tench, Rudd, Perch and Koi Carp.
I fished from about 11-18, on the Witham, canals and reservoirs so never had the opportunity to catch Barbel. When caring for my late dad after cancer diagnosis I took it up again, this time on the Trent.....soon introduced to the beauty and majesty of the Barbel! I only weigh fish if I think they're heavier than I'd caught before. My best was 14lb 3oz on sweetcorn. Probably my favourite Barbel catch though was a pristine 12/14" long fish, probably never caught. Fingers crossed he/she is still going strong!
Enjoyed this immensely, thank you for sharing such a wonderful day of excellence in fishing. I lived in England in the 70s and early 80s and still have all my rods, rod case, umbrella and even my little green box seat with my tackle. Sadly it just isn’t done that way across the pond here in the states. My dad’s rod which is with my rods is in the old leather rod bag was never used and still has the plastic on the cork handle from 40years ago…He passed away before he was able to fish with it. 😢
Just subscribed to you Des lad... like the way you fish... and the way you put your videos out... need to try coalport... I go to the Woodbridge quite a lot...
I have watched a few videos now, and just sitting reminiscing about times gone by. I have mentioned previously that my uncle Tom was a rep / traveller for Effgeco fishing tackle, owned by a John Goddard. It was him and my Father that started myself and two younger brothers fishing at a very early age. Back to the reminiscing, not sure about my dad but i know uncle Tom fished with Fred J Taylor way way back in the day. I was just wondering are you at all related to Fred J Taylor 🤔 by any chance ?? Hope you do not mind me asking ?. Cheers Les. As always wonderful viewing and informative 👌 Many thanks.
Des Taylor is the angling Dad everyone should have. So much respect for you Des.
Thank you! 👍
Bob Ross of fishing…. Thank you!
Was going to type the same thing 👍
Except Bob Ross is a charlatan who can't paint.

Thank you Ricky!
I remember watching "a specialist approach to barbel " donkeys years ago and I have to admit you won't go far wrong if you take des's advice.
My god I haven't seen Des Taylor for years I'm so glad he's still fishing and making content. I've learned so much from him it's great to carry on learning. The man is a national treasure. 🙂
Thank you very much for your kind words 👍
Your enthusiasm is infectious can't wait for the floods to recede to get back out on the mighty trent.

I still have the vhs of gesture fishing at Cuttle Mill..
He shaped my fishing from that video as a young lad.
I caught my first ever Barbel from Severn at Iron Bridge, thirty odd years ago 🎣

What a beautiful river you have! Using a pellets and boilies for barbels is completly suprasing for me. I need to try it in Poland.
Hi Des love your video is it baa water or what day permit thanks.
The River Swale in North Yorkshire used to be a great Chub and Barbel river. I think pound for pound Barbel are the best fighting fish.
Bel video!
Superb
Nice 😊
natur loving pure
Hi des I just found your channel ❤ loved the video as well. Any chance of getting the location of where you was fishing 🎣
...incredible video! I am struck with how much "gear" these Brits take fishing 👍
Cool looking fish ,do youse eat them or are thay just for fun .iv never seen these fish as I'm from Australia.
They make great fertilizer, just dig a hole and dump ‘em in, crops love it.
We don't eat them over here, it's catch and release.
It’s not just me then getting splashed in the face from returning the fish !!!
Reminds me of John Wilson 😮
I have watched a few videos now, and just sitting reminiscing about times gone by.
