i don't understand why people think classical music is boring, is so emotional, epic and poignant. it makes me feel human i love it. And i hate that stigmatism that is only for a few people. And I hate those people who think that those who listen to classical music are elitists
because people think classical music is: ''all adagio movements of 19th century (or earlier)'' + ''mozart for babies'' and it is selled as this...if you go to spotify or deezer, all 'classical music recomendations' are this
Because when you don't play an instrument and have only heard it, it *sounds* calm. Most folks that listen to classical don't sit around listening to Paganini caprices or Chopin's etudes where they're just blazing away. Even though some of his parts in here are really fast, they blend in with everything else and are easily missed by people who don't understand music
Absolutely wonderful. Few violinists have a tone so consistently sweet and pure as Kavakos. It never becomes harsh or strained even in the most demanding passages. One of the best violinists of these times.
Absolutely. This concert is known for obliterating even the best violinists. Even Perlman struggled a lot with this thing and I found it incredible how Kavakos just plays it flawlessly. No scratches, no struggle and everything in tune. Inhumane!
This video introduced me to Prok 1 violin concerto 2nd movement several years ago (I don't even remember). And after all there years I never find this piece played as amazing as Kavakos. How fast and clean he played is beyond my mind.
What a conductor! You take a look at him at any point and it's almost as if you're listening to the music. And then you hear the music and you are trying to find the words to describe what you're hearing, but I'm pretty sure that there is no word for that kind of music. Thank you and Bravo!
@@leonardoiglesias2394 Interesting. And still the orchestral part is fantastic. There must be something in the rehearsals he does right. Looking at him I would hate to be in the orchestra trying to follow him... I'm intrigued.
I I've watched many performances on youtube, and I keep coming back to this one. it's simply the best I've heard, I don't know how much better this concert can be played.
Practically impossible to find a concert in which the violin knows how to dialogue and merge with the wind instruments like in this one. Thank you, Maestro Kavakos
Classical really means old school from around 1760 to about 1830. It has developed a broader meaning covering the earlier Baroque period up until Romantic musical period ending around 1900 or earlier. After that, all bets off! Modern is not classical, its wild.
Fantastic! Gergiev, Kavakos, and this orchestra are just sublime. I’m astonished at how spare Kavakos’ vibrato is in the opening. And Gergiev’s ‘ Bugs Bunny’ conducting hands have always fascinated/amused me. 😅 But perhaps the real stars of this video are the videographers/video editors. 🎥 I’ve never seen a Classical concert filmed in such a thrilling and musical way. 👏 👏 👏 It really does add to the viewing experience. 🤩
Prokofiev is not always the easiest composer to appreciate but repeated listening always pays dividends! BTW this is not recorded (as stated above) at the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory but at the Mariinsky Concert Hall, St. Petersburg.
How is Kavakos' violin in HD yet his bow is not?? Hahah. I can't remember the last time I saw a zig-zaggy blurry view of a moving bow. Actual film wobble is something else and quite charming, but this digital capture is unsettling. Oh well, at least I'm here for the music :) A brilliant performance of Prokofiev!
I am having trouble decising if I like this or Hahn's version better. This is buttersmooth, but Hahn has this crazy agressive, mayhemy feeling which I also like. I guess they're just as good, just a very different approach.
Valery Gergiev yönetimindeki orkestra mükemmel icra ediyor kemancı solist sanatçı fevkalade güzel, zaten şefimiz en mükemmel şeflerden birisi orkestra ve orkestraları harika yönetiyor,başarılarının devamını diliyorum.İzmir, den sevgiler
Thanks for answering my question Farinelli. I would have thought EuroArts would have owned that video and its content since it streams so many events. Who complained? I don't really understand these laws, sorry. Hopefully others won't be taken down.
Gergiev conducting all 6 Tchaikovsky symphonies is available on 2 DVDs (I have Nos. 4, 5, 6; and I assume the first 3 are out by now. The Pathétique (No. 6) is a MUST see and hear because I have waited many years to finally hear a performance from a conductor and orchestra that truly understand Tchaikovsky's heart and mind, especially during his last few days on earth. Each note, each phrase, each pause is perfect. The performance is like a memorial to the great but tragic Tchaikovsky.
You are wrong that is not the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. The Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory is fortunately for me like my home, I mean I have been many many times there. I do not know where they were playing this concert.
And the concertmaster is raising an eyebrow. The viola or some winds stayed silent which was probably not written in the sheet music. But I don't know this concert so well... just my guess... ;)
+Thomas Testor I can hear it, most of the way through, it's incredibly noticeable. It sounds like maybe one of the microphones is picking up the sound of one of the performer's physical movements? Like cloth rubbing against cloth? It's tough to tell, but it's very definitely something, and not just incidental.
When I play violin in an orchestra concert, a standard suit is often quite confining for my arms/shoulders, and the tie or bow-tie gets in the way of the violin. So maybe he chose the chinese style because it looks great and doesn't have those drawbacks which are even worse for a soloist than for the regular tutti violinists. Also, he's the star and has nice hair, he can wear what he wants ;-)
Certainly nothing wrong with his playing technically I suppose but his sound is a bit too controlled for me watching his fingers all time doesn't allow much freedom soundwise no relaxed virtuosity just keep watching, watching which is totally unnecessary. Trying to play with arms wide open simply helps better breathing and being more open to yourself and auditorium. Get connected and trust your body does the right thing if you don't see what you're doing. Short notes are not resonant here.
Incredible composer, incredible soloist, incredible conductor, incredible orchestra.
I agree💕
Incredible audience, incredible hall, incredible recording equipment, incredible RUclips channel, incredible comment jsushsy
Terrible comments.
well..three out of four ain't bad
The conductor is a VERY despicable guy; friend of putin. 🤮

Sure. Gift for everybody but rarely who appreciates it

I am beginning to hate you.

He is my favorite I just adore his playing he never lost his flare since his youngest days
Perhaps the cleanest, quietest Prokofiev 1 I've heard. Love it!
That’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard in my entire life.
That intro is incredible... ❤❤❤ i could listen all the day long
Gergiev-Kavakos two giants of the XXI Century!
I love his calm left hand

0:21 Andantino
10:08 Scherzo
13:50 Moderado - Allegro Moderato
So beautiful. Relaxing. Restful.
Camera /directors work is astonishing! Especially the flite and violin part after 8:15
Браво

Only…..he gets off all the time. But you dont realize it because the orchestra ignores him. Maybe, get the score and see what he „conducts“…..
@@leonardoiglesias2394 I hadn't noticed that. I was completely absorbed by the exquisite music. That's a good point you're making.
@@leonardoiglesias2394 Interesting. And still the orchestral part is fantastic. There must be something in the rehearsals he does right. Looking at him I would hate to be in the orchestra trying to follow him... I'm intrigued.
You have got to be kidding.... right? He's a liability that the orchestra have learnt to ignore.
Kavakos is astounding.
6:10 I'm a simple man, I like this part in particular

My favorite violin concert playing by favorite violinist 🥰
The concerto is close to sh*t; good violinist though.

Thank you so much for such a beautiful recording, regarding the sound and also the video. It's as important as the rendition of the musicians
Amo esta maravillosa interpretación! 💙👏👏👏

Bravo!!!
This is not a Moscow conservatory great hall, it's a Mariinsky concert hall in Saint-Petersburg

Gergiev ... WOW!
EuroArts, why is Gergiev's rendition of Prokofiev's 1st Symphony blocked now? It was my favorite. Political censorship? I'm glad this gem is still up.

3:16 why did the conductor make that face
Viola played wrong note what else could it be?)

the tsar was in attendance?
Amazing performance... but what is up with the first few seconds of this video? Is that lady relevant somehow?
Did the woman become sad after the conductor scoffed at her? Non-verbally?
I'm here because of Twoset. :)
Sameeeeee

I first heard of Kavakos from TwoSetViolin as well.
There's a voice in the background!?
+Thomas Testor What do you mean? During the music? Send timecodes please.
+EuroArtsChannel From 0:51 to 1:52. But you need high quality headphones to hear this. And maybe it's not a voice but any noise.

Ian Austin, very interesting, yes that could be.
Themes developed from 1st Symphony ?
What g string is he using
Pi :)
Actually, it is a Thomastik Vision Titanium Solo g string
And what rosin?
why is he wearing a traditional Chinese suit?
When I play violin in an orchestra concert, a standard suit is often quite confining for my arms/shoulders, and the tie or bow-tie gets in the way of the violin. Prokofiev said here: I'll be Bach.
man has pretty bad posture but wow his playing is so damn clean
the soloist is wise to not look at the conductor. The wayward beat would be very off-putting.
great but like Shaham there is nobody.
a little dry... accademic... sorry.... to my taste.. no absolutes in the arts!

It is the french-belgium school. Dont worry he is free 🎻🎻😉😉
i feel like he kind of botched the second movement. the soloist i mean.
He did amazing compared to other soloists
bravo!!
