Thanks for a great video. I have the service manual and it says if you rotate the slave cylinder more than 2 degrees in any direction it will leak oil. What a bad design. Ordered my new replacement and this video was gold. Thank you!
Mine was leaking like a sieve after I connected the line, I thought it was a faulty new slave cylinder. I thought I was smart by connecting the hydraulic line first, then mount it....nope -- leaks everywhere and can't line up the rod properly. Bolt it on, then connect the line, then bleed and no leaks.
So all you did was gravity bleed the slave cylinder? Did the pedal get better and better over time as the air worked its way out or did it stay about the same as the install. Thanks for making this video
My clutch slave is leaking. I’m about to change it out next pay period. the clutch squeaks when I push it in and it’s got a really bad leak I keep having to fill my reservoir
Did this look like a oil leak too you before you found it because it leaks on mine and is wind driven on the bottom of the trans but at first it looked and smelled like regular oil until I cleaned and ran it cleaned and ran it what a deal man cause I thought I was gonna be replacing my rear main at first lol
When I pulled the hydraulic line out of the old slave, there was no little rubber cap. I did it slow are carefully and I'm certain it didn't fly off and roll away. I looked inside and even smashed the slave open with a hammer and it wasn't there. The boot was torn on the old one though. I inserted the line into the new slave, removed the master cylinder cap and pumped it by hand until it had pressure. Then I bolted it up and pressed the clutch about 50 times. Jeep was parked facing up hill. I then put the cap back on and drove it around the block. It works perfectly fine. I checked the slave and no leaks. My question to anybody and everybody is, has anyone experienced this also? Not having the little rubber cap? I haven't driven it far yet so if it starts leaking I know why. But so far so good and it's interesting that there was no cap present. 🤷♂️ Does anyone know the part number for the hydraulic line? Just incase.
Does anyone happen to know why clutch fluid would leak on a brand new cylinder at the end of the boot that enters the transmission... Bought 2 and they both do it? Thanks in advance

Nice . im glad you made a decent video of this
The "water" from your bell housing is brake fluid.
How did the brake fluid get into the bell housing learning and just wanna know please
Just assume ing it sealed inside and was leaking ???!
Finallllyyyyyy. A good slave clutch vid. Tytytyty

Do you leave that plastic cap on the end of the slave on or take it off?
You leave it on, it fits right into the clutch fork.

I believe mine is the a/c condensation
Did you end up getting the end of the slave cylinder out of the bellhousing?
Wondering this as well
Did you disconnect your shifter linkage?
No I did not!

There was an old one inside my bellhousing, so that may have happened or be common
If it works it's not broken
Mine won’t go back in all the way I can’t even get the nuts on
Hmm I wonder why, could be the fork isn't lined up right ?

Not sure sorry, sounds like the push rod has come out too far
Jeeps take dot 3
you can always go up but never go down in brake fluid level
