He really was the nicest and kindest man you could ever meet. I was on the Generation Game with my Mum and he remained a friend to my family all his life. He always had time for everyone and would stop to speak to anyone who wanted to talk to him. What a difference to the so-called stars of today. He realised he was where he was because of the people who came to see him. A real Star.
Absolutely beautiful man and a comic genius; comparing this wonderful human being to the so called "comedians" of today is like throwing pearls before swine. Great to see Ken Dodd on this too, another incredible comic genius.
When gentlemen with gentle talent were appreciated. All the Golden Age of British TV should be regularly shown - what a joy to rewatch all of his Generation Game
Lovely lovely funny Larry........ I nearly cried laughing at these clips.......and on his farewell appearance at the Royal Variety i not ashamed to say almost cried.....especially at the end when Judy was belting out that beautiful song with her beautiful voice.
from the same area as Larry. When Larry took over the Generation Game no one thought he would be successful but because of his professionalism and his love for people he won everyone over. He gave the world more expressions than anyone I know since Shakespeare and he was from Warwickshire too. The day Larry died a light went out in Nuneaton. I love you Larry Shut that door!!
A lovely, kind, man and a truly great comic. I loved his camp asides: ('Your hair needs washing'). He lifted The Generation Game to a new level. Unlike with Bruce Forsyth, the joke was almost always on the host and not the contestants. And wasn't Isla St Clair fabulous?!
You've hit the nail on the head. Forsyth's frequent jibes at the contestants became tiresome to say the least. Larry would much rather send himself up. He was very kind and very funny. He gave the show a new lease of life.
he was hilarious on the Generation Game, lots of eye contact with the camera was very funny. Trying to make apple turnovers or spinning plates etc was all the more fun thanks to him. We miss you Larry.
"he's anyone's for a doughnut" (mentioned in an earlier part of this programme). Had me rolling. The way it was delivered. The look. The timing. The seemingly ad-lib. I can't think of anyone who could have said it funnier. A true legend of British comedy. I'm so very proud to live in Nuneaton; and the idiotic, homophobic councillor who spoke against a memorial is NOT representative of the people they were elected to represent. Even younger people in Nuneaton are proud of Larry's ties to this town to this day. But, at the end of the day, who needs a memorial. For many of us old enough to remember him, he will always live on in our hearts. And at the end of the day, that's where Larry would probably have wanted to be remembered most. You did our little town proud. A great entertainer; and an even greater human being. RIP Larry. x
Grayson, Williams, Howerd, brilliant men before the 'gay agenda' and weaponised sexuality replaced camp with limp, there was a strength about them, a sense of resilience unlike their modern-day delicate/easily offended contemporaries, they were and always will be my faves
What harm is this clip doing anyone for You Tube to disable the audio track? If they are that bothered about copyrights then just cut out the offending bit and leave the rest for us to enjoy. Thank you Robby334 for posting these clips, I grew up watching The Generation Game with my Mum and Nan on Saturday nights and absolutely loved it. Larry Grayson was a brilliant entertainer and as others have said we will never see the likes of him again.
Hi, I know, I saw saw that. I was just wondering why they´ve deleted the whole of sound clip and not the "non authorised." They´re getting to be a joke.

To get such a warm generous tribute from the King of comedy Ken Dodd says all that needs to be said .

Hi,
I know, I saw saw that. I was just wondering why they´ve deleted the whole of sound clip and not the "non authorised." They´re getting to be a joke.
Was Larry married? Just he has a band on his wedding finger in the last scene.
how annoying. Anyone got this on DVD?
