Echoing other comments....remember Brucie as being brilliant but Larry was a very clever entertainer, a gentle soul who made a lot of people laugh, to such effect we still recognise and praise his talents now.....much missed!
Sadly missed but fondly remembered a very funny man. God bless you Lal and when I arrive through the gates of heaven I hope you're there to shout "shut that door" for me!
Don't forget a 3 DVD set of Larry's time at ITV is released tomorrow 22nd June 2009! Now we need the BBC to release this documentary along with some classic 'Generation Game' episodes!
He was absolutely hilarious. The Generation Game was never as funny after he left. He came across as gay with his 'seems like a nice boy' comments and the audience loved it. Greatly missed.
He's anybody's, look at the muck in here, seems like a nice boy, what a gay day, shut that door, riff raff, Ooooh I can't stand feet. All great throw-aways, along with winks to the audience, raised eyebrow to the camera, the dismissive turn of the head. "Slack Alice - shes mad about the big dipper.... she's not alone". Classic timing. Top man, sadly missed. He actually took the Generation Game to new rating heights that even Brucie didn't achieve.
Here is a quote from a professor (Gender and Sexuality) from Birmingham City University. It's from an article posted on their University's website on 2/12/17. "In many ways Grayson’s popularity and the ambivalence of his reception illustrates the uneasy and uneven way in which British popular culture has struggled to finally accept and assimilate gay identities as part of the fabric of a rich and varied society. Professor John Mercer" Rest in peace Mr Grayson.
His warmth and love of people always shone through, a genuinely kind man and extremely funny - absolutely suited to the Generation Game.
Wonderful man. Such a huge talent. Loved watching him present The Generation Game.

Larry Grayson was a great funny man but also a brilliant actor, in real life he was married & had 14 kids, shows you how deceptive TV can be

Hard to believe that Larry died 22 years ago (now 2019.) SHUT THAT DOOR, MY HAIR WANTS WASHIN', LOOK AT THE MUCK IN 'ERE!'

Larry always took part in the games most of which he wasn't all that good at. More to just encourage the contestants to have a go.
It's all about the timing
Class
