Volkswagen came onto the hot hatch scene a bit sooner than Honda but as the performance needle continues to move further up the ladder it has forced both companies to offer the most potent version of each economy hatchback. Here in America, we've had the #GolfR for nearly a decade while Honda dragged their feet until 2017 when the hottest Civic came to market in the form of the #CivicTypeR.
