    The long wait is over guys! Here is our full take on what the new Civic Type R is like to drive on the road and on the track! We also give the microphone to our editor, Rob for the first time and he offers his take on what this new version is like compared to the 2017 model he owned for 5 years! We look forward to driving it back to back with the GR Corolla, Golf R, and Elantra N at a later time! ❤

    I think the most underrated comparison people aren’t making is between the cost of this type R (with the markup) and the TLX Type s. It’s also a Honda, it’s faster, nicer inside and out, and is a true luxury car. Yes it may not be the same track weapon as this, but at 55 grand for the Type S, and 60-75 for this Type R… I’d go to the Acura dealer asap.

    What a waste of R&D time. This car will never be obtainable to be what it was meant to be (affordable performance). People with disposable income will buy them and keep them in garages while targeted demographic will have to settle for RUclips videos. This is a USA problem to be clear, not world problem. Only USA has aggressive laws protecting dealers and mandating they exist without any control. It boggles my mind that the company who made the car is powerless in preventing their customers from being ripped off. People who made the car said this car costs $44K but we have to give it to a third party who had nothing to do with R&D so they can add $25K mark up to line their pockets before our customers can have it. If you think about it, it is quite insane. For example, Canada has ethics board that prohibits any markups.

    Great job with this review, I do love this car, but I wish Honda would design a performance hybrid to really maximize the performance. Honda developed some amazing performance hybrid technology 10+ years ago, but they are, for some reason, holding back that technology, why is a mystery. My 6-year-old daily driver is a performance hybrid and way out-performs this new Type R in many areas including MPG. They have the tech to design a 375hp Type-R Hybrid, 0-60 in 4 seconds, and gets 35 to 40 MPG. this car is slow off the line. An electric boost motor would correct that.

    • @BenjaminRichardsMasterhand
      @BenjaminRichardsMasterhand Год назад +2

      They want to keep that technology exclusive to the Acura NSX I guess but who knows that would be awesome wouldn’t it

    Should have put a similar K20 in the Si. I would buy this over the FK8, but inflation and markups turn me off, so i will be keeping my 2012 RR FG4. No point in selling if i have a 2.4L K24

      If they did what’s the point of getting the type r?

    • @FutureDeltaPilot747
      @FutureDeltaPilot747 Год назад

      @@f181234 The Si has always had the K20 though. For them to take it away and put it in the Type-R and drop an unreliable Lseries in it, then put a detuned K20 in the Accord is a slap in the face. The sedan Si was introduced in 2007 meanwhile the Si has always been a hatch and Coupe. Even the Accord had the K20 and K24 before and its not even a Sports car. The Integra is a Hatch and that right there says they want Integra sales to be better than the Civic Si because people asked for a Si Hatch which was not delivered. The 11th gen Si is only a sedan. People are only going to keep their older Si or buy a Type-R or Accord. I love Honda, but they died in 2016.

    • @FutureDeltaPilot747
      @FutureDeltaPilot747 Год назад +1

      @@DJPleasureSeekingMissle Exactly. I believe Honda was going to go all out. The Prototype FG4 had an HDMI exhaust before the 10th gen did with cool LED foglights and 18” wheels. People was like why is vtec on the intake side? It was so we could turbo and surpercharge them. People still complained about the bland styling and interior. I think it was just fine and here we are two generations later with a similar issue of the styling.
      Tbh, the FK2 should have been an updated Civic but in sedan and coupe form. The headlights still gave 8th gen vibes. Thats what the modern civic should have been. Look at the Accord which reached its modern look of the 6th gen Accord during its 8th and 9th gen phase or the Odyssey and CRV for example.
      Honda lost their touch trying to outshine the Germans. Who needs all this fancy tech that makes the car expensive and unreliable. Honda was simple and fun cars Acura should just be technologically reliant but, thats just my opinion. Like they say dont fix whats not broken.

    Looks great and will finally age well, just like the iconic 5th gen..…but at this size, Honda should’ve also offered an AWD option. Hopefully Acura will be able to get their heads out of their arshes and correct this with an SH-AWD Integra……NOT!🙄🤪 A plain steering wheel (a la Porsche) and an infotainment delete (with rear camera integrated with rear view mirror) would be nice options, as well.
