Barbra Joan... did you guys have a "Hesitation Dance" in Jr. High around 1958 where the band would hold on one chord and everybody paused from dancing until the beat started again? Just wondering.. we had it in Ft. Worth, TX. Can't find anyone who remembers. Peace.
lol I posted this 2 years ago and YES❣️ I sure did get to perform this and quite a few others from our albums!! I’ll see if I can find video of that one. Hope you guys are still around! 🎤🎶🎸
At the time it seemed it was destined to continue endlessly, without skipping a beat. It resonates today as though it had. Thank you HDH, Smokey, Funk Bros., Andantes, Maxine Powell and all the incredible singers. Thank you Barry Gordy for all the work it took to fulfill your vision of GREATNESS! 10/2019
This song is so awesome!! It had the greatest beat! It reminds me of a day at work when me & Beverly were listening to this song & dancing around the kitchen singing. I was singing into a spoon & Beverly had a spatula. We were getting down when the assistant CEO of the hospital came in with a big wheel from the corporate office. Beverly froze but I kept going because they were behind me & I didn't know they were there. I turned around & stopped. All of a sudden the big wheel looked at Garon ( the assistant CEO) & he grinned & said " Well at least they enjoy their jobs!!" Garon looked at him & shook his head & laughed & said " you just don't know the half of it!" Lol Garon was always telling me I had missed my calling that I should've been a comedian. Lol Yes those were such fun happy times! Thanks to all the ladies bands they were all awesome & they did all of us very proud!!! ❤
Please, listen many "Blue Notes" sessions, with Rudy Van Gelden, with his withe gloves, as Sound Sorcerer. With Miles, Thelonious, Milt Jakcson. The Sound of Bernie Gordie come from this guy, more or less..I discovered "Martha and the Vendellas" by...Chris Squire, Bassist and Founder of Yes. 5 years of "European Tours" as Bass Tech, 1999-2004. And Alan White, who played with Joe Cocker was reallly happy too. Martha and The Vendellas. A Pure Diamond.
Who remember this song by Martha Reeves and The Vandellas Dancing in the streets? 1964 I was 4 years old when that song was out. My favorite song and group.
I am 73 (today), I watched this video about a month ago,, and then went to the Martha Reeves website...at that time, Martha and the Vandellas were doing a gig in Shanghai...Martha was still cookin' at age 78. "Long live Motown; Long Live the 'Girl Groups' of the 1960s".
The amount of talent that converged to make this is unbelievable. Written by Marvin Gaye, who's also playing the drums, with Mickey Stevenson and Ivy Jo Hunter. The Funk Brothers just killing it. The Vandellas really delivering the vocals, and the moves! Especially Martha, look at that smile, that attitude. I even tip my hat to whoever directed the main video here, and the cameramen, who caught it just right. For my money, it doesn't get any better.

I was a 14 year old kid back in '64 and as you were dancing in DETRIOT I was in NORTH JERSEY with my friends also DANCING IN THE STREET ....we had a lot of fun back in the 60's :)

I remember this song! Thanks for the memories!
Oh God she's so great. Every time I see her perform she brings tears to my eyes. Her charisma is top shelf, her smile, her sparkle. There's nobody like her and never will be. Wherever you are, Martha, I love you! (and I love you too Vandellas!)
This song is the perfect connection to some of the best times and memories in my life. It is amazing how much a song can remind you of a time, place or person. This is a favorite :)
This was a staple in my youth in Cherry Hill, Baltimore City. Block parties, or an open truck went through the communities with a band or DJ in the 70s. Dancing in the Street, music 🎶 🎵 the BEST!
I definitely remember this song back in the sixties. My household had this record and everyone in my household was playing this song. This is one of my favorite song. Dancing In The Streets!!!
This song brings back such memories! When I was a freshman in college, they closed off our street to traffic so we could get out there and dance! Of course they played this song! I grew up on Motown music and still love it to this day. Besides, this lady is my namesake...
I feel privileged to have lived through the 60's what a time that was. I know we had The Beatles etc here in the UK, but the Motown stuff - well it just blew me away

I was just sitting at the computer working, when this song came into my head. Not sure where it came from, but it made me feel so good, I had to stop work, and watch and listen to it again. It was great then, and it's GOLD now. One of the 60's very best records. Bless you Martha Reeves and the Vandellas. I was one of those white kids who didn't care (then or now) about the Beatles or the Stones. But give me Motown!

Such a great track to dance to, its hard not to want to move to it. Also thought that you cant hurry love was a phil collins song ,its the supremes. Ill take his music and memories to my grave .mj is a big part of my life and his music dance n message of love has made my life better. But a big thank u to all the Motown stars for sharing their gift and soulful music which was pure and tasteful, all about love n respect .peace ,lets continue to spread Motown n MJ for future generations to have quality soulful music

I love videos like this. People of different races sitting and singing together with no drama or racial tension. Music truly brings people together ❤️❤️❤️

I think this above the Bowie/Jagger version is the one that sticks to me the most. I remember it being on Freemont Street overhead led light show down town sin. city and they played this to a light show. Either way just timeless. GOD WHY CANT SO MUCH OF TODAYS POP BE LIKE THIS?
forever!! My son, since the beginning, learned to enjoy "my" music - one of his memories (he tells me) is watching me dancing all over the house when doing housework with this kind of great forever music playing.

Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals is Monday Night. Either Oilers fans or Panthers fans will be dancing in the street after that because on of those two teams will win the Stanley Cup for the first time since 1993.
Martha & The Vandellas' music has me soaring through time - to my college years at the University of Maryland, College Park Campus. So upbeat and so happy; music to dance to! Those were happy years!
I played sax for MARTH REEVES at BISCAYNE BABIES in Florida around 1985. Martha is very professional and above all.....A REAL SWEETHEART!!! What a great experience.
@@alainclement9244 I backed up Ronnie too.....at a baseball field in Florida. After working with THE AUTOTONES, I was getting all the 50s music gigs...

I'm with her almost everyday(best friends). She's as real as you can get. I maintain the building and her living quarters.
Please - no one can touch the original. Between the Funk Brothers' blistering groove and Martha and the Vandellas' perfect vocals, this is THE one.

Good music is timeless
forever!! My son, since the beginning, learned to enjoy "my" music - one of his memories (he tells me) is watching me dancing all over the house when doing housework with this kind of great forever music playing.
Damn right it doesn't.

Martha & The Vandellas' music has me soaring through time - to my college years at the University of Maryland, College Park Campus. So upbeat and so happy; music to dance to! Those were happy years!
