Love this song...I'm 70 too...we grew up in the best of times.,.I think we were the last generation to feel safe growing up...we used to play outside all the time and only had to come home when Dad got home for dinner at the table and we ate together every day, talking about our day as a family.. then after dishes, outside again until the streetlights came on. Grab an apple and off to bed to say our prayers...the music of our generation was so creative and inspiring. So much talent classic Rock is timeless and our generation still rocks it .. we still turn it up when our favourite songs are played and sing along because we know every word in it . I'm still dancing along to like all of our generation...we may grow older but we'll never grow up..lol. remember Woodstock? Not one incident and all those people....we all got along and were proud of it... I feel sorry for kids now because they aren't safe on the streets anymore.. .we have to get back to the garden and as a community we should join together because it really does take a village.. I love the idea of seniors take the time to go to the school's and help with the kids for lunches recesses and after school until parents can pick them up... It would benefit both seniors and the little ones. And pass on our appreciation of good music shared together... My friends are involved in a program called" blues in the schools". And children can learn different instruments etc or just come out with an appreciation of music.... Music got me through the best and the worst of times. . When I was a kid in the 60's I mostly heard three songs selected on juke boxes: Roger Miller's "King of the Road", Ray Charles' "Hit the Road, Jack", and this one. It really brings back memories.
We had the boots, go go dresses but longer ones because parents said we were too young lol. At slumber parties we played the song, sang and practiced all the dance moves. Good memories! 🥰

@@dccisco9515 Well, friend, this video was intended to be shown on the Color-Sonics and Scopitone film jukeboxes of the day, and the majority of those machines were in taverns, lounges, clubs and bars - not to mention rumpus rooms, so these videos always had enough tease to warrant one more quarter thrown into the machine. In regard to their wardrobe, let me just say that the sweet blonde dancer in the Saturn Yellow sweater, as I call it, had a very wide set of hips and pelvis, and as such, her sweater didn't completely come down to cover those hips, and she must have required her dancer's briefs to be cut to allow more freedom of movement - hence, her leg openings were cut much higher than those of the others in the ensemble, and admittedly, she was - pardon my Scotch - blessed by the buttocks fairy; as much as I hate to say this, she's my favorite dancer out of all of the dancers in this video - just for those very reasons.
Fun fact: This song was originally written by the author, Lee Hazelwood, to sing himself. But Nancy Sinatra convinced him that it would be too harsh for a man to sing about walking all over a woman. He agreed and let her record the song, which became a hit in part because it promoted women standing up for themselves in their relationships with men, which was one aspect of the growing women’s rights movement in Western culture.

When I was a kid in the 60's I mostly heard three songs selected on juke boxes: Roger Miller's "King of the Road", Ray Charles' "Hit the Road, Jack", and this one. It really brings back memories.
We had the boots, go go dresses but longer ones because parents said we were too young lol. At slumber parties we played the song, sang and practiced all the dance moves. Good memories! 🥰

I couldn't agree more, Gregory - in fact, I've had an idea for a documentary feature film about Nancy, and when I get the chance, I'll start doing the research and investigation into financing and so forth.

One of my very favorite SCOPITONES. It’s a music video that was never meant for broadcast. Only for Scopitone machines in local bars, bowling alleys, casinos, etc. An amazing history!

@@dccisco9515 Perhaps those outfits were outrageous back in 1966 - but the Sixties was a time of experimentation in fashion, and the Go-Go boots worn by the women at the time were a big part of that experimentation.
@@dccisco9515 Well, friend, this video was intended to be shown on the Color-Sonics and Scopitone film jukeboxes of the day, and the majority of those machines were in taverns, lounges, clubs and bars - not to mention rumpus rooms, so these videos always had enough tease to warrant one more quarter thrown into the machine.
In regard to their wardrobe, let me just say that the sweet blonde dancer in the Saturn Yellow sweater, as I call it, had a very wide set of hips and pelvis, and as such, her sweater didn't completely come down to cover those hips, and she must have required her dancer's briefs to be cut to allow more freedom of movement - hence, her leg openings were cut much higher than those of the others in the ensemble, and admittedly, she was - pardon my Scotch - blessed by the buttocks fairy; as much as I hate to say this, she's my favorite dancer out of all of the dancers in this video - just for those very reasons.
Fun fact: This song was originally written by the author, Lee Hazelwood, to sing himself. But Nancy Sinatra convinced him that it would be too harsh for a man to sing about walking all over a woman. He agreed and let her record the song, which became a hit in part because it promoted women standing up for themselves in their relationships with men, which was one aspect of the growing women’s rights movement in Western culture.
