What a truly inspiring woman. The fact shes excelled in such a male dominated profession shows real strength of character. I know she’s had a hard life, but her wonderful smile and laugh shines through it all. Much love.
I clicked on this video thinking the title was clickbait... definitly not clickbait. This woman. Holy crap. Got stabbed and right back to work the next day, confronting the guy that stabbed her? Loosing 4 children and still finding fun things to laugh at. I salute you, mam. What a powerhouse of a woman.
What an interview of a truly inspirational woman. Love her mentality & attitude. Fact she survived a stabbing a shooting among other things & still remained in that profession is incredible a real testimote to her resilience.
Delia definitely sounds like the person to have your back! I never realised that the first woman to work in the same type of work as me came from so close by geographically. Thankfully, I can say that I've luckily never been shot or stabbed. She's one tough cookie!
Only a few minutes in what a lovely woman! Fair play! I tried to get a job in Cardiff as they were looking for female door supervisors but at 5'4 and 9 stone despite a lot of martial arts training i dont think im suitable im hardly able to restrain a man but i hoped i could at least be a descaltion help! Im also medically trained. Should i keep trying to work in this field? Thanks
I've worked (as the catering guy) in a students union club, admittedly 20 yrs ago, and the smallest female bouncer there nicknamed "Mini" really was very slight to look at, but she could single handedly get a pissed up 20 stone angry rugby lad out the building. She ended up running a pub in the town centre for a bit where she told me some funny true stories when I asked how she coped (in the pub) alone if anything kicked off, and how she could quite happily handle a few locals getting rowdy! I'm sure if you've got your martial arts skills too, you'd be fine. I doubt drunk bloke masculinity has changed much when it comes to it being uncool to retaliate to a female half your size (meant as a dig at such idiots, not at smaller sized female bouncers lol)
Becky you will get thrown around. None of the above has walked in your shoes at this time, things are very very different than they were 30 years ago, less respect for women and the likelihood you'll get a blade pulled on you is up from back in the day. It's not worth the bad wages, leave it to roided and chubby blokes
Sounds like she's had an interesting life and glad it's inspired other women. 😄 Would have felt safer clubbing etc back in the 80's with female bouncers being on the doors too. A lot of the bouncers were just out to pull at some of the clubs. Most pubs back then the male barstaff would be used on the doors as my hubby used to have to on new years eve.

If I can do it Becky, when there was no SIA at 5ft 41/2 in 1985 you can do it now. Believe in yourself don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.😊
