You’re right about Bill Tarmy he never changed, even for Coronation Street. I was brought up in the same district and I remember years ago, when he nursed a baby to sleep in a scene, he said “Go to Boe Boes”. That’s a real Manchester expression.

Thank you, Simon. Amazing story. Have had an anxiety disorder for nearly 60 years and only recently been able to cope through CBT. The stigma holds you back until you understand that it is an illness. Well done. Great encouragement Also appreciate you and the other guys on Corrie for your sterling work.
When a person first suffers from severe anxiety it's truly horrendous - if you haven't had it you really have no idea how bad it is (it's not your fault, you just don't). A huge part of it is that the anxiety itself is added to by the bewilderment about what's happening to you because it's a terrifying new experience - it's the combination which is so horrific. The good news is that the right treatment really does work wonders - Simon clearly knows that and so do I.

Long time ago my then very young son looked similar to a young kid who was featured in a series of adverts on TV, and one afternoon we'd gone out to visit some relatives in a new town, so we went out for an afternoon stroll around the town centre. Whilst we were in a shop a woman came over and asked if my son was the kid from the adverts so smiling we said no but they do look alike so you know we understand why they were asking, the woman then got angry and insisted my son was the kid from the adverts, people began to stop and then join in with her, so unnerved we left the shop. They followed us along the street, more people joining in as by now several people were yelling "Its him", it's the kid from the adverts, we tried ducking in to a department store trying to loose the strange crowd that was now following us and they came inside still yelling about how "the kid from the adverts is in here" we hid behind a pillar on the shop floor absolutely confounded as to what to do and a shop assistant approached we thought to offer some help, instead she bent down towards my now scared son shoved a pen and paper at him and barked "Sign this" I tried to get between her and my son who was crying now, and, she leant forward and bit my arm, and then carried on barking at my son to "Sign it go on sign it" We ended up having to hide in a changing room whilst one of us went outside and got a policeman to come in and help us get out of the store. Ever since that experience, if I've ever seen someone out and about who i thought might be famous I've left them alone and just got on with my day, I don't know what people expect from them anyway, and don't get me started on the whole autograph thing.

Saw him once in a supermarket in Manchester about 20 years ago
Proper sound bloke. I know Andy that plays Kirk. Never met Simon but seems sweet. Andy is safe as.
Went on a charity bike run with Steve 2009 ish . I really like him, very grounded
Met him at Craig Charles' funk and soul night in Manchester. Very cool guy.
One of my favourite Coronatiom Street stars
So nice to see a historical channel about castles, this is one of my passions, and to include the Scottish isles is a dream. I hope to one day own a castle. Thank You Subbed.
You’re more than welcome - pleased you enjoyed the castles
Top bloke ❤
Steves a good lad so he is
This was a great interview !
What a guy Simon is👍
Ive not watched corrie for years, but when i did i always though Steve Macdonald (this guy) was a great comedy actor. Not as good as Blanch (obviously), but defo on par with Joey from Friends.
Probably not acting, likely just being himself.
@@J1M1F are you funny? Either when acting or being yourself?........see, not as easy as you think it is.
