I quit drinking 5 years ago. I was throwing the stuff down my neck at a ridiculous, life shortening rate. I did 20 years with HMPS and realised that the drinking culture combined with PTSD was taking me down with it. I did the Macmillan 'Sober in October' challenge and just kept going. I thought I was going to die - the headaches and shits lasted for about 2 months but I kept with it. I watched motivational stuff and read books by Foxy and Mark Billingham. I'm still sober and feel so much better.

Gordon completely hits the nail on the head in regards to responsibility, regardless if it's substance abuse or mental illness, when you are responsible for other people wether it be family or members of staff, Gordon's frame of mind is exactly the way my mum and dad instilled in me, you have made or built a position where you are responsible for other people, families and if you are struggling then you 110% have to be honest regardless of the consequences, you must be honest to the people who rely on you to survive, Gordon is an absolute inspiration as a Scottish entrepreneur and self employed individual he has inspired me to stay strong and helped me get through some of the darkest times in my life 🙏

I’m just turned 66 and had a very near life ending motorcycle accident-prior to this I did a 60 minute exercise bike beasting session- I’m now just short of 16 weeks post accident and shuffling 1.5 miles around my house
Recovering from a motorcycle accident takes incredible strength, patience, and resilience, and every step I take is a testament to that power within me.
Each day that I push a little further, each step that I add, is a reminder that my spirit is stronger than any setback.
The road to recovery may not be quick or easy, but every small milestone is a victory, bringing me closer to a life of renewed strength and freedom.
I need to have the courage it takes to face the challenges head-on, and let every step forward fuel my determination to keep going.
I’m building back, step by step, and proving to myself that I can overcome even the toughest of trials.
I will stay committed, stay focused, and trust that I am making incredible progress with every stride.

I know someone who run the best cheese steak restaurant in the states, my Italian mate went around Philly too, came back to me & said this place was better, but it bleeds money & it failed. Complex trauma leads to addiction. One brother becomes addicted to pressure, success, physical training and fame. One becomes addicted to Cocaine, Heroin and booze. Both do it to ease the pain, but one journey is adaptive, the other maladaptive. How long until we understand that trauma is the root cause of addiction, and that addiction is just a coping mechanism. Moving from judgement to curiosity must be the path to empathy and helping others.

It kinda sad that this is being pushed as good mental health, I get it that someone staying away from drugs and alcohol and exercising regularly is very possitive but It looks like gordon has fallen into a trap fuelled by fear, and an inability to take a break. There is nothing healthy about over working yourself and running away from your fears, he said his ability to heal quickly was was because he trains hard but training hard was the very thing that got him injured, I do agree with him that being fit and healthy wil help you heal but he is ignoring the fact that pushing himself too hard at an old age put him there in the first place.

I can not express from being super fit to falling off the wagon and being super fit again. Absolutely essential people get themselves fit.
You don't need to be the best. Just strive for improvement and find what you enjoy.

These two blokes are obsessive, driven individuals. I'm not saying that that is a bad thing, it's just not even the slightest approximation of my own personality. I am just pleased I am not like them; it would be so exhausting.
I'm in the middle of painting my kitchen cabinets and have stopped for a well-deserved Brewdog IPA. As long as I've finished by Christmas, all is good.
I am so easily pleased by life.

    Try one ingredient shopping.
If it had more than one ingredient on the package... forget it...
