    My first Landcruiser I bought in 1980. Had that one for 17 years and did 650,000 kilometres in it. I bought my second Landcruiser after my son killed that one and I have had it ever since and it has done 620,000 kilometres so far. Both of them were 11 seat Troopcarriers. Awesome reliability. So essentially I have had only two daily drivers since 1980. The ultimate in recycling is keeping it on the road and not continuously buying new vehicles.

    • @philbox4566
      @philbox4566 6 лет назад +3

      No way, 75 series Troopcarriers have a cult following in Oz. Sooooo much room.

    • @philbox4566
      @philbox4566 5 лет назад +6

      Because the 75 series diesels are tough and reliable and you can get parts for them in any remote part of the country and everyone in the outback knows how to work on them. Also as mentioned above they have legendary reliability and last pretty much forever. Keep the maintenance up to them and you have a vehicle that will get you anywhere and last a lifetime.

      cjeam isurgants? Lol great folks... but really. Toyotas probably second, but mercedes diesels outlive everything. Taxis or not. 99/100 in the junkyard still run the rest of the car just finally broke. Usually with 500k or more. Toyota has arguably built engines which were just as reliable, but they rust out alot faster too. And for every MB m273 with the timing recall, theres 2 yota V6s that will sludge up even on high dollar synthetic.

    The more I watch these different overland builds and such the easier it is to realize that there is nothing different, ingenious or, most important, cost effective.
    In my opinion you do not need all of this. I find the real challenge and preparedness comes with the ability to carry as little as possible while covering as many essentials as possible.
    You can always add more things thats easy, haha
    Besides the point though.

    That hitch on the Patriot is the best offroad hitch ... made by Cruisemaster (not Patriot), as is the suspension on the Patriot - it's Cruisemaster. The Aussie stuff is the best: Redarc, Cruisemaster, Rhino Rack, ARB, OME, TJM, etc. You really need to look at the Aussie stuff for your US overlanding ... we've been doin' it for years!! :)
    With the Toyota's, Aussies have also been modifying Landcruisers for a very long time ... all the various series (60's, 70's, 80's, 100's, 200's ... basically all of them). If you really want to see some great offload setups, gotta check out the Aussie Builds.

    It's amazing that Americans don't understand the capabilities of a Landcruiser and this video has to exist. Jeeps are not the only thing that can go offroad lol. Landcruisers hands down are easily one of the most dependable and capable offroad rigs out there. You should search up what we do with them in Australia !

    Title match the car, love from Papua New Guinea just north of Australia, we love land cruiser and Ford ranger F150 more than any other brands. These two cars can get you wherever u want and get you home with any major problem. Feed them with Desiel or petrol, that's all, seat back and enjoy your ride.

  • @mobgma
    @mobgma 6 лет назад +37

    Wow. This vehicle is awesome. Had no idea it was over engineered like that from factory. Where is the US/ NA marketing department at? The JK's are garbage in any form other than the Rubicon. Would rather have this but tough to stomach a land cruiser at $80K. I ca see why Jeeps and Tacos are more popular.

    • @ottorosado602
      @ottorosado602 6 лет назад +4

      Yep and that's the big issue at play. The 200 series is an amazing vehicle but it has a very large price barrier coming in a lot more expensive than its alternatives. The thing is worth it though if you can afford it (I cannot lol).

    • @6806goats1
      @6806goats1 6 лет назад +3

      Buy used. With some Rubicon’s hitting over $50k US and new Land Cruisers available in the mid to high $70k, the gap is getting closer. Went with a 1997 Series 80 myself but it cost me $10k because I had to have factory lockers and I got in a hurry.

    • @ottorosado602
      @ottorosado602 6 лет назад +3

      You're right, that's always an option too but when you are looking for new, there's no denying the price difference. Last I went car shopping was in 14 and I narrowed my choice to a Taco, FJ, Jeep (previous Jeep owner), and 4Runner. Ultimately I decided on the poser/cheaper Landcruiser in the FJ and also got to buy one of the last ones to be sold new where I live. I love my FJ to death and will never sell it since I think of it as an entry level LC :D.

      get the newest one you can with 50-80k miles. It'll possibly be less than 50K and last you more than a brand new Jeep

    Great video! I grew up on a large farm in South Africa where we ran a fleet of Hiluxes and a few Land Cruisers - '80's FJ's and newer (the first truck I drove was a 76 or so Hilux). The 2.4 diesel Hilux was indestructible - still have lots of them running and they have been riding on dirt farm roads since the 80's. I live in California now and currently have a 2005 4Runner V8 w OME shocks and springs which has done almost 250,000 miles without issue (tires, brakes a water pump and oil - that's it) and a 2018 L200 Land Cruiser w the 5.7 V8. It's built tough and is great to ride. I recently sold a 2000 L100 V8 which I put 150,000 miles on without issue. I've owned Land Rovers (Defenders) and a few other trucks through the years which were good to drive, but these toyota's have consistently had the best built quality by a long way. Even the bodies don't creak and rattle apart after all those miles. I can't say enough good things about them. Good job Toyota!

    Toyota makes the best vehicles in the world, from the Corolla to the Land Crusier. I actually saw two bullet proof Landcruisers driving together,the other day. Both black with dark tint. I live in a border city here in Texas and they had Mexican license plates. Usually someone rich, maybe cartels, from Mexico that come to shop here in the U.S.
