Jason, I love your videos, you somehow manage to always review the lens from a slightly different point of view than all the other reviewers. I always find some unique insight or really useful info, like what type of gimbal to use.
As a former 24 1.4 GM owner and a current 20 1.8 G owner, I'm quite happy and have 0 temptation with these Sigma lenses. I value small and lightweight over max performance too and 1.8 is plenty bright enough for my use cases. I'm glad Sigma came out with these though. More options the better for buyers!
@@Francesco_AP_ just saw this. Personally, you just gotta try to use it. I do a lot of portrait stuff but I always struggled with the 24 being a bit too wide for portraits for me but not wide enough for nightscapes or other side angle shots. I suggest rented one or both focal lengths and see what you like
Awesome video as always Jason! Well for the same price I would rather get the Sony G 20mm 1.8 which works better with my FX3 or A7iv (focus breathing compensation) which I still can’t believe Sony didn’t include in the fx3 firmware update 2.0 🤦🏻♂️ also the Sony G is much smaller, lighter and video shooters won’t care about 1.4 or 1.8 that much… only Astro photographers (but they use a 12-14-16mm lenses anyway.
Sony's is much more optimized for mirrorless, the Sigma is still using an ultrawide front group and a tele in the back, just improved from the old ver,
Hey Jason, thank you for this review. 👍😄 As I enjoy lowlight and night time shooting a lot, it’s obvious I have the 35mm 1.2 and 14mm 1.8 both from Sigma and the 24mm 1.4 from Sony. I had always hoped for Sigma to release a DG DN version of their unique 20mm 1.4 and they finally did. 🤩 Would you mind taking the new Sigma 20mm 1.4 out at night and capture some astrophotography? 😊
Even at Astrophotography I think the Sony 20G is better because of minimal vigneting and distortion. Also the Sony is a little bit more wide and cost 100$ less at several promotions around the year
Jason, you're a life saver. I spotted this one on line locally for $1200 AUD and wondered why it was so cheap compared to the others. Now I know and luckily I didn't pull the trigger on buying it. It was great to lead in with the difference of the two.
I want a good lens like this for doing night shots with maximum light coming in. I also don't want any distortion on the sides. Is the 20mm the lowest you can go without starting to get the fisheye effect?
If you're looking for a 20mm that has a wide aperture, I would point you to the Sony 20mm F/1.8. It's incredibly light, lighter than this one for sure! Both are excellent for video
Some people are still photographers and need lenses for photographs... nobody vlogging or using a gimbal should really be bothering with a professional photography lens.
Weight and lens breathing compensation make the Sony my pick. Really nice to have more choices! Thanks.

Yeah 1.4 on wide angle lenses are pretty useless tbh especially with how good the cameras that are available now in low light
@@MonicaHolly143 it really helps a ton with astrophotography, but you can always stack if you need too.
Hey.
I really can't decide between the GM and the G. What's your opinion having used both😊.

4:11 and Sigma has better skintones in video right out of the camera.... I canf understand all these a bit magentaish lenses from GM
I’ve been wanting a lens like this for some time now from sigma, finally it came out. I hope it arrives soon in my country
Go for either the Sony 20mm 1.8 G or the Voigtländer Nokton 21mm 1.4
Thanks Jason. I have the Sony 20mm already, no need to switch (luckily)! Great review.

For the size and weight im gonna go with the sony 20mm 1.8 G, im a sigma guy both like the sony better, thanks for reviewing both.
Sigma is indirectly pushing us to buy Sony 20mm 1.8 😂😂😂
I balanced a 70-200 on a RSC2, you think 20mm is out of the question? please

They will sell more if they make 16 or 18 1.8 instead of that 20 1.4

I'm kind of torn between this one and the Sony 1.8 version
Sigma 20mm f1.4 art dg dn vs Sigma 24mm 1.4 dg dn WHO is Bast ....??
What is the red thing you’ve got hanging from the side of your camera?
That is a lot heavier than 20 1.8 G.
I would stick with what I am having.
Would the signa 20mm be better than the older 16mm 1.4 on apsc

Sigma must be an optically great one but... what if the transmission is only 1.7.... which leaves Sony 20/1.8 be a better lens.
is there a version for nikon z6ii?
because I bought mistakly the wrong one and will return it
Is this compatible with may canon sl3??
Do you recommend sony 20mm 1.8 only for photography as i'm not a vlogger ;) I need wide angle with width aperture
Another bomb video!! My only question is the 20mm seems like a more premium look over the 24mm. Is this true?
do you recommend as a nice lens for video?

Yea...so you are in wrong channel, there's other channels prioritize stills
silly comment
Not so sure about the gimbal part, i'd want good a wideangle lens for real estate snd music videos
seems to me that the Sony 20mm f1.8 is better and sharper in low light
I want that 1.4 AND the MF Lock! Wow
I still see 20 1.8 G is sharper and more contrasty than Sigma from your pic comparison.
not enough near focus, + bokeh results comparisons
Sony 20 1.8 is where it's at. Sorry, Sigma
Still too big !!!
