First, they shitted all over Mufasa's true story and lineage and then after watching the trailer....I still do not see SCAR (Mufasa's greatest rival and threat...) ANYWHERE...The director, the screenwriter and the production companies can seriously go "F" themselves ...This shit is going to flop badly and then they will blame either the audience for being not "opened" enough and/or they will blame the other movies that will have better reviews...
Canonically, Mufasa’s parents are never mentioned in the official Lion King universe so it can’t be said that he “comes from a lineage of kings”. Although he has predecessors doesn’t necessarily mean they are of his bloodline since male Lions are usually kicked out of their pride after a few years anyway to go take over another pride which in theory could be how they’re going about this. They’re lions not human royals. Scar being the only other adult male Lion would obviously become the “king” of the pride if Mufasa were not around and there is no one to challenge him for the throne…

@devmastere once the models are done, the rest of the work is easy. Animators usually use movements receptors to make it quickly. At the same time, most 3d program have free textures to use. There are also millions of free 3d models on the internet. And animate on 3d is not that hard as animating 2d. In 2D you have to draw every single part unles you mix it with 3D. You can take 5 hours to just animate completely animate in 2D a few secons. In those 5hours, you'll have some minutes or a 3D one. That's why most companies only use 3D now: Cheaper, quicker and bring the same amoung of money.

Yknow what we need? A prequel in everyones less favourite animation style, that has zero stakes cos we know how the lion king ENDS, not only begins, and came out 30 years after the original…like cmon… At least if it was hand drawn animation or at least 3D/Pseudo Hand drawn, everyone might be interested, no one wanted this
Why in LIVE animation?! The entire point of Disney is that it's a new world with bright colours, bright animations and characters that are expressive and loveable with no limits to creativity. We want the gorgeous animations back, this movie is ruined already. Why make one of the most popular and beloved movies of all time into a money grab and a graphics test? This isnt what we want Disney, realism does’t mean its better.
They should have left Mufasa as the real King not adopted and have him be the youngest… because the problem is that that actually solidifies Scar’s claim in the OG to be King. I know the want to go with everybody can rise to greatness theme, but that wasn’t needed in the OG, because Simba embodied that you can lose everything and come back stronger… even in the second direct to dvd sequel Kovu who was supposed to be Scar’s heir (you can say he his son du to his design, but Disney decided to not go that route) did rise to greatness and prove his worth when he decided to be different.

I'd have pre-ordered a ticket and my 30 year old self would've been front row with popcorn had this been "2D animated". If someone told me this was an unseen trailer for the previous Live action Lion king i wouldn't even bat an eye.
My only question is, does Mufasa have a James Earl Jones voice as a child? If not, how does he develop that voice? Is he a smoker? Does Mufasa's Dad sound like Barry White when he talks? Why doesn't Scar sound like that nationwide dude Dennis Haysbert? Is Scar petty because of his voice? Does it just make him self conscious? Is this the real reason he can't be king? I just realized I am have more than one question. I must see this movie to get these answers.

Directed by the guy who gave us the "Best Picture" about gay, black drug dealers giving each other handies in 2016. Disney has burned up every bit of their goodwill, leaving them with zero benefit of the doubt. And tacking Lin-Manuel Miranda onto the end is not exactly the selling point they think it is, as he was responsible for "The Scuttlebutt" in Li'l Murm last year.

Having Rafiki be the story teller was a good touch. Finding out he was so wise because he was born a woman and transitioned to be a man so people would appreciate his wisdom would have been better. It's a modern take we just don't see enough in movies today. True family values.
Literally the only thing I care about is Mads Mikkelsen. I need to know who he's voicing because I know he's going to do amazing.

So I will say the colors are popping out more compared to the remake. Too bad everything else still sucks though. I will defend Disney’s stuff alot but this is the one area where that will never happen. The remakes need to stop and I hope this is a wake up call for them.
im mostly afraid this movie will retcon everything already established. as a die hard TLK fan, id love to see the movie, but i feel like it should not funny be considered canon as.. scar and mufasa already have an entire backstory established throughout books, the lion guard, etc.
The big question remains now who will win this war? Sonic movie three or Mufasa, the lion King?! It’s gonna be interesting seeing these to go ahead to head!

I’m sorry, I like Lin-Manuel Miranda, but why does it seem to be he’s the only one that’s been writing songs for all of these upcoming Disney movies? Surely there are other song writers out there who are talented as well. And honestly, I thought the songs he wrote for The Little Mermaid were just average at best.

Why in LIVE animation?! The entire point of Disney is that it's a new world with bright colours, bright animations and characters that are expressive and loveable with no limits to creativity. We want the gorgeous animations back, this movie is ruined already. Why make one of the most popular and beloved movies of all time into a money grab and a graphics test? This isnt what we want Disney, realism does’t mean its better.
They should have left Mufasa as the real King not adopted and have him be the youngest… because the problem is that that actually solidifies Scar’s claim in the OG to be King.
I know the want to go with everybody can rise to greatness theme, but that wasn’t needed in the OG, because Simba embodied that you can lose everything and come back stronger… even in the second direct to dvd sequel Kovu who was supposed to be Scar’s heir (you can say he his son du to his design, but Disney decided to not go that route) did rise to greatness and prove his worth when he decided to be different.

You had a perfect opportunity to Jumpstart Disney drawn animation again with this but instead we get this CGI, non expression having mess
My only question is, does Mufasa have a James Earl Jones voice as a child? If not, how does he develop that voice? Is he a smoker? Does Mufasa's Dad sound like Barry White when he talks? Why doesn't Scar sound like that nationwide dude Dennis Haysbert? Is Scar petty because of his voice? Does it just make him self conscious? Is this the real reason he can't be king? I just realized I am have more than one question. I must see this movie to get these answers.

Wait why does the animation in this look worse than the 2019 version? Like this actually looks more fake which means there’s even less reason for the realistic take. Christ Disney just stop.
My hope is that Sonic 3 crushes this so Disney finally does stop, I defend alot of Disney's decisions but I've never liked the live action remakes and this especially is them being extremely cocky that the movies keep making money.
Directed by the guy who gave us the "Best Picture" about gay, black drug dealers giving each other handies in 2016. Disney has burned up every bit of their goodwill, leaving them with zero benefit of the doubt. And tacking Lin-Manuel Miranda onto the end is not exactly the selling point they think it is, as he was responsible for "The Scuttlebutt" in Li'l Murm last year.
It looks so much more colorful than the previous film.
Bring back the old school 2-D animation. Stop with the CGI, in case you cant tell, we hate it. and none of that skipping frames like you did with Miles Morales.
