Ikr?! The actual choreography seriously doesn’t get enough credit. It’s so cool when Kong is like “juggling” her while fighting the V-Rexes at the same time!
Exactly. Hard to believe this movie's almost 20 years old yet the CGI and choreography in this movie still holds up better than even some movies that have come out within just the last 5 years.
The fact that King Kong was able to fight and hold off 3 V-Rex Dinosaurs with just one hand while gently holding the lady in his palm with the other hand is impressive.
Agreed. It takes everything that was great about the original and expands upon it. You could tell Peter Jackson was a huge fan of the original just by looking at the passion he put into directing this remake.

Its insane how 2017 Kong is 4.16 times taller and 7.9 times heavier (2017 Kong should likely be more than 158 tons but Godzilla Earth should also not weigh the same as Godzilla 2019 so they make errors sometimes lol). And then in 2021 Kong now was 3.2 times even taller than in 2017, or 13.48 times taller than 2005. His official 2021 weight is unknown but Godzillas is officially listed at 99,000 tons and stated in the beginning of the movie as 147,000 tons. Most people like about 60-99,000 tons for 2021 Kong. So remember he is 3.2 times taller than in 2017 but now somehow 379-626 times heavier, depending on if he’s 60,000 or 99,000 tons at 337 feet compared to 158 tons in 2017 at 104 feet. So from 2005 to 2021 versions he is 13.48 times taller, and about 4,950 times heavier. Thats just ABSURD! Lol. Because 2005 Kong, as you can see in this clip, is super strong, huge, and amazing. Insane to even think of him at 13.48 times taller and 4,950 times heavier!
That's what happens if the people behind this film. Actually cares. They put their souls, passion, and heart making this. That's why alot of old movies CGI looks so good. Now I'm not saying New CGI is bad but i think they're mostly rushed.
This is still one of my most favourite scenes ever in a movie. Was just amazing, the raw power he displayed while displaying a sense of protection and calmness in a almost seemingly outnumbered situation just incredible
Andy Serkis' motion capture performance of Kong here was just phenomenal. He really captured not only Kong's emotion in a dangerous situation but also his physical power that's authentic to how an average sized gorilla would be.
The T-Rex battle is my favorite part of the movie because it’s the part where Ann finally sees Kong’s true colors. He’s not the enemy and is there to protect her and their relationship begins to blossom. The fact held his own against three gigantic T-Rex’s showed how much of a badass he truly is. After all, he’s the King!
I can't believe this is after Godzilla Final Wars. The CGI looks amazing. And Godzilla Final Wars uses custom. Both movies are goated and there's no debate to make.

This movie will always be my favorite version of Kong hands down. The amount of time and detail that went into these CGI effects by the team- the absolute realism and physics; He missed the tree the first time because of his momentum, come on!! and, pretending that this /is real/ for a moment here, the amount of absolute focus it would have taken for Kong to make sure he didn't crush Ann as he was holding her while also /Fighting/ against three very dangerous and strong opponents always amazes me. You can tell he really adored her. The ending of this movie never fails to make me cry. Well done.
I can't believe this is from 2005. Our best video games today don't have CGI this good (look at the detail in the vegetation). It goes to show how far video games have to go before we can actually play in an environment this realistic.
I can’t get over how good and authentic this Kong looks. These recent films im not a fan of how Kong looks for some reason even though the movies aren’t bad. Love this film the most tho.
It's because he looks and acts like an actual - if oversized - gorilla. I like Monsterverse Kong as a character, but having watched the most recent movie, he's basically just a hairy human with short legs now. Walking upright most of the time and just having zero animalistic mannerisms anymore. For the 2005 movie, Andy Serkis spend hours in zoos or with documentaries, studying how a gorilla moves, their facial expressions and their mannerisms. And I think that work paid off in this movie.
Andy Serkis went to see gorillas in the wild to get as natural a look at their behaviors as possible. The zoo gorillas were captive and didn't behave naturally.
One thing I especially like about this fight is that Kong is just trying to defend himself and Ann. He isnt trying to actively kill the V Rexs unless he feel he has no choice, AND he tries to make their deaths as painless as possible. For instance, the 1st one, he knew that trying to fight 3 at once was going nowhere. So he crushed the head with that giant boulder, a quick painless death. The 2nd one, he flattened their head against the cliff, which was quick and painless as well. But he only did it because he was desperately trying to save Ann from the last V Rex and didn't want it to interfere anymore. The last one in the showdown, you can see he doesn't want to fight. He just stands ready, staring, and just roars at the V Rex to tell it to leave. But when they refuse, Kong kills them as their consequence. He gave them a chance to leave with their life. Since they refused, he killed them, but still gave a quick death. The V Rexs on the other hand would have tried to kill Kong slowly and painfully, given where they bite Kong each time. To sum up, Kong has a sense of suffering and quick deaths, and isn't normally so violent.
@kingofthering3343 I get what you are saying, but the reason he ripped the tongue out of the last V Rex was probably because Kong was actually mad at that point, so he wanted to punish it. As for the jaw snap, it wasn't fully broken, plus it was to try and dissuade that rex. Again, he wasn't trying to actively kill that v Rex. He hoped it would leave rather than resort to killing it.
I love how he could just cave the T-rex's skull in rather easily but insists on ripping the jaw open at 7:06, potentially risking maybe few fingers to relieve his annoyance with their snapping.
This is one of my favourite movies. Three hours of emotional ups and downs. I always cry at the end. Can't believe it was released in 2005...where has the time gone?
No joke this movie helped inspire me to want to direct movies someday. I watched it constantly as a child and it still holds up two and a half decades later.
Bro what?😭 he had the v-Rex pinned to the ground and overpowering him within the first 10 seconds lol. The only reason kong was struggling? was because the v-Rex was moving a whole lot.
honestly if I could change anything about the fight id put 5-7 v-rexes and have kong lose a finger and/or hand and get his arms and leg's injured a little
I love how someone will make a comment about how the 2004 cgi is better than the current movies that have a 10x budget and someone else will step in to defend the current state of movies. The culture war continues and permeates every aspect of our lives. Great.
I remember seeing this movie in theaters 17 years ago during Christmas break and I absolutely loved it. Peter Jackson did a fantastic job directing this movie.
@@The_Program_95 I saw it on the 20th of December with my dad sis and grandma. There were more people in the theater and I remember everyone in the theater being so excited and when kong died in the end no one said a single word. And I was only 10 years old.

I just noticed that at 1:13 Kong actually misses the branch when he reaches for it but quickly recovers and grabs it. The attention to detail and realism is actually insane. They could’ve just made him grab it perfectly but they went the extra mile.
6:22 that Rex had no chance, because when she walked towards Kong and he saw that, Kong's beneficial status buffed. His spirit raised 200%, his strenght raised 300% and his defense raised 100%.

Same And while I see the "just a big gorilla and not an ape like monster" criticism, I'm letting that slide simply because this version is the most baddas in the fights. I don't think any other Kong tops that

@@jointcerulean3350 I really like the speculative take this movie had when it came to the dinosaurs, not just dinosaurs whose evolution had somehow frozen in time for 65 million years.

Something that has always astonished me in movies is how predators values getting a meal (or in this, a small snack) over their own lives. Realistically, the rexes would have wanted to avoid conflict against King Kong even in a 3v1, not to mention 1v1 as the last rex did.
the extra material for the movie explains it: - Kong's kind and the v-rex hate each other and hunt down each others young to eliminate future threats. - Anne had Kong's scent. - Kong fought these particular v-rex's multiple times before and this was their final battle. - These v-rexes were designed to be inbred hillbillies so that might also explain why they were so aggressive.
@@Oinker-Sploinker Lol, you're kidding. You're basically saying "cuz V-rexes are evil and Kong's good." It doesn't explain anything, it's just a silly made up excuse repeated in slightly different way each time.
@@Oinker-Sploinker Well this goes completely against any sense of biology and science but...ok. A movie about a giant ape fighting off inbred t rex hilbillies with evil intentions..just to get some p*ssy 🤷🏻♂️🙈
The v-rexes have been forced into a very concentrated and tiny area due to the island slowly sinking. This resulted in them becoming inbred and having mental issues. Plus the ever-shrinking island and it's diminishing prey items meant the V-rexes had no choice but to fight to the death for any tiny scraps of meat. They had to become unnaturally aggressive to survive an island that was in the process of killing them.

To sum up, Kong has a sense of suffering and quick deaths, and isn't normally so violent.
wow! i guess that's why i didn't like the skull island anime because they straight up tortured some of 'em there i felt kinda bad
Quick and painless? He ripped out the tounge of the last V-Rex before ripping it's jaws apart, and he also ripped open the jaws of the one at 2:30.
He hoped it would leave rather than resort to killing it.
he is suppose to be the guardian of that island, dont think he kills anything unless he is attacked.
I wouldn't call ripping out your tongue and tearing your jaw open to be quick and painless. But okay.
I love how he could just cave the T-rex's skull in rather easily but insists on ripping the jaw open at 7:06, potentially risking maybe few fingers to relieve his annoyance with their snapping.
I can't believe this is a 17 year old movie, the CGI and visuals are simply world class and better than some current movies

Something that has always astonished me in movies is how predators values getting a meal (or in this, a small snack) over their own lives. Realistically, the rexes would have wanted to avoid conflict against King Kong even in a 3v1, not to mention 1v1 as the last rex did.
the extra material for the movie explains it:
- Kong's kind and the v-rex hate each other and hunt down each others young to eliminate future threats.
- Anne had Kong's scent.
- Kong fought these particular v-rex's multiple times before and this was their final battle.
- These v-rexes were designed to be inbred hillbillies so that might also explain why they were so aggressive.
@@Oinker-Sploinker Well, I suppose that would explain it for this movie, kind of. Thank you.
@@Oinker-Sploinker Lol, you're kidding. You're basically saying "cuz V-rexes are evil and Kong's good." It doesn't explain anything, it's just a silly made up excuse repeated in slightly different way each time.
@@Oinker-Sploinker
Well this goes completely against any sense of biology and science but...ok.
This CGI better than all the new marvel movies
This is the best . Scenes looks so much more realistic as compared to scenes in Skull Island.
